I think "optimality" is something that isn't worth striving for because some people inevitably are either going to fully meme or just go against consensus. I think the "best" thing we could do would be to put a bit of a moratorium on pairing for at least a day or two so we can get a base amount of content and then if you're town just be extremely careful about what you propose and what you accept though ofc that's not even happening if N_M accepts. Be wary of being buddied, be somewhat more willing to accept pairing from a consensus townread, etc.
Also it's probably a very very bad idea if you're town to trust more than one person unless specific circumstances require it.-

Looking at this game is just so awkward now because we're collectively hunting for one scum out of eight people with almost no associatives. It makes committing to anything feel bad.
I think luncheon's townread on me is pretty good. I also think hellbooks's reaction to it is what I'd expect from town. I also still like gamma.-

Not sure what the first question is referencing; for the second, it looks sort of like you're saying you could have acted this way as scum and ascribing that to another player with a different style, essentially you're calling something scum-indicative that to me seems better explainable by Casey's personality or playstyle. In post 200, iNtuition wrote:Implosion what of my list of town/scum intents do you not feel is an objective representation of the field of possible motivations? what do you mean by assigning how i play to someone else? are those not all the ways a person plays?

I agree with hellbooks that intuition trusting me is a bit townie. However, two things: one, intuition if scum is in a bit of a precarious position at that point; it could also be a hail mary. Two, I'm not sure if I like hellbooks's reaction of "wait, please don't trust luncheon, trust intuition instead"; it could easily be scum who realizes that a successful clear of luncheon will nearly end the game, but who is afraid to break that by advocating for a trust on themself.
I'd rather wait for like, a couple more takes from luncheon before trusting, but I'm probably not against them being in the trust pool-

I think the setup needs a couple issues worked out, maybe just in terms of day structure or something. One is that the whole "keep trusting people one at a time" thing that this game turned in to is, imo, less interesting than the setup has potential to be. It probably wouldn't play out that way with 2 scum alive but as soon as there's 1 alive it will play out that way. If we'd had 6 clears we then would have had to laboriously wait through all 3 trust pairs.
One thing that could be interesting is to tweak numbers and win conditions so that scum instead have to exit all but one person. Example, maybe 3:8 where scum win condition is "you win when 2 scum have exited the game" and town win condition is "you win when there are fewer town than scum alive" or equivalently "you win after 3 successful town-town pairs". Not sure what EV would be.
I think one of the issues here was that the low scum ratio and the fact that winning came down to finding 6 town we can trust made it a little bit of a slog where it was just like adding one person at a time to a town pool and never *really* scumhunting at all.
