I don't know how well this generalizes but I personally have a reflux issue that makes it hard to sing in the morning. What usually helps is not eating 2 hours before going to bed, and if possible, sleeping and an angle instead of flat.In post 327, Aristophanes wrote:Hey Malkon,
I usually have to sing early in the morning, like within an hour of getting up, not just because I don't want to bug my roommates for which this timing is optimal, but also because they watch tv SO LOUDLY that, from another room with the doors in between closed, it actually overwhelms my own voice in live chats and therefore does not work for this sort of thing.
Do you have any tips for how I can warm up or essentially stretch my vocal cords in the morning? I know it's not a optimal time for vocal recordings but it's the only time I can make work most days.
think this is the official stance by now but I want to express approval as well
Same lmaoIn post 459, Mina wrote:Fuck it, I still have no voice, and my attempts to pull off easier songs keep bombing.
So instead of dropping out, I might as well have fun and go out in a blaze of glory. Last-minute way too ambitious song change, let's go!On second thought...I'm not subjecting anyone to that.
Wait I think we did the same thingIn post 491, toolenduso wrote:My song choice was perhaps a tad ambitious but I love the song and I'm happy I did it
frickin falsettos arekiller, man
I assume they just referred to it as head voice? In post 507, Haschel Cedricson wrote:Counterpoint: Falsetto isfun.
By the way, did you know that it wasn't until the 1950s that people started to accept the premise that women could sing falsetto? Every time I remember that I still can't believe it.
Would you mind expanding on this example more? I am not familiar with dreamgirls, and a quick wikipedia skim shows both songs were in the broadway musical and the movieIn post 549, Malkon05 wrote:My best example of this would be in Dreamgirls, "And I am Telling You I'm Not Going" was not originally done for the movie, however "Listen" was. So I would accept "Listen", but not "And I am Telling You...".
