it feels like everyone has forgotten that Shelly's predecessor (samantha) final post before leaving the game was a rant at the Mod for giving town an edge by conftowning Ban Hydras.

Which wasn't actually a fair interpretation, but was likely something that the scumteam collectively agreed with as they NKed Ban Hydras the next night.

And more importantly, it's much easier to see scum quitting in frustration at their own team being adversely impacted, than town quitting in sympathy with the scum-team after being given a slight edge.
