The bending elements are a diverse yet simple collection of materials that benders in the Avatarverse can manipulate through the use of martial arts. A rigid four-element system was introduced at the beginning of the show's history, including water, earth, fire and air. This group of elements developed and evolved throughout the series with each element developing and revealing their respective sub-categories of bendables. The possibilities continue to grow as the Avatarverse grows on. Together, we will explore the wide variety of bending techniques throughout the Avatarverse. I'm Glitch, your friendly host, and I am excited to mod for you guys. I have played Mafia for years and modded online and in person many times. This will be my first time modding on MS! Please be patient with me if there are any issues as I promise to do the best I can to host this game to the highest standard possible.

5. Provable randomness
   - is against the rules. Saying that you rolled a dice is fine, using dice tags or random.org is not.
   
6. Claiming scum
   - by yourself is fine. Claiming scum with another player is against the rules.
   
7. Cryptography
   - is forbidden. Breadcrumbing is okay.
   
8. Confirmation
   - You have about 48 hours to confirm your role and your alignment by PM. Game will start sooner if everyone confirms. Posting in a private topic counts as confirmation.
   
9. Days
   - Day phases last about 14 days. Extensions may be granted if there are replacements or other reasonable circumstances that necessitate an extension.
   
10. Activity
    - You must post at least once every 48 hours or I will Prod you. You then have 24 hours to post in the game thread or I will replace you. If you come back before I find a replacement, you can stay. The activity timers run at half-speed on weekends. Players can request me to prod somebody early. This will only count as an official prod if you don't post before you would have been due for a prod. If you haven't posted in the 24 hours before the thread is locked for night, you must reply to the night start PM or you will be replaced during the night.

Day 1

Waterbending was inspired by Tai Chi; a more gentle and flowing martial art. The Water Tribes had sexist customs that were rooted in their deep heritage of traditional gender roles. Katara's character arc broke through that barrier in a climactic fight between her and Northern Water Tribe Waterbending Master Paku. While she lost the fight, a soft and emotional resolution for both benders resulted in a new understanding and a willingness to reconsider the old ways. Through much training and teaching, Katara became a master waterbender who would one day outshine even Master Paku himself.

During the hundred year war, the Fire Nation decimated the Air Nomads and wiped out their entire culture. After killing off all the airbenders, they targeted the Southern Water Tribe with years of naval raids, taking all their waterbenders and locking them into cruel prisons. During an early raid, southern waterbenders who were known for their resourcefulness and creative bending, worked together to freeze a Fire Navy ship above the water rendering it useless. Despite this raid being unsuccessful, the water tribe eventually had all their benders taken away as prisoners of war -- except for one secret bending child. The Fire Navy ship was an eerie reminder for decades of what the Fire Nation had done to their tribe. It has haunted the small community to this day.

Toph Beifong, a young blind girl, became a legend in her lifetime through her mastery of earthbending. At a young age she became a ring fighter in spite of her blindness, utilizing her earthbending as a visionary tool. With her bending, Toph sensed the vibrations in the earth to detect movement, and could "visualize" through her sense of feeling her element. This technique was then taught to others and in the future became a primary skill used by earthbenders across the world.

It was believed for centuries that metal was an unbendable material. No effort or thought was given to bending metal because it was simply assumed one could not do so. Bending was a fighting art form given to humans by spirits early on in history. As history continued, these bending disciplines expanded through trial and error, research, discovery, and more. Waterbenders soon learned they could bend ice and snow, then steam, then found their ability to heal with their bending, and eventually grew into an even darker expertise of bending. With earthbenders, legendary bender Toph Beifong became trapped in a metal box. In her attempt to escape, using her willpower and ability to feel earth with her bending, she realized that metal is simply a material derived from earth. It is a form of earth that has been purified and refined. Finding the material makeup of earth within the metal, she was able to bend her way out of the box, becoming the first metalbender in history and creating a new school of bending that would be studied for decades to come. The art form was later honed and developed into a masterful skill with metalbenders dressing themselves in metal armor and weapons they could use to fight with at any given moment.

Over a hundred years ago, Firelord Sozin declared war against the rest of the world. He decimated the Air Nomads as a nation and killed off all but one last airbender that they couldn't find. This began the hundred year war in which the Fire Nation walked down a long road of corruption, devolving their bending practices from its pure, traditional roots into a war tool fueled by anger and rage. Firebending took on multiple alternative forms as the root source of the ability to bend fire is actually the ability to bend energy, and therefore evolved and complex variants of the technique emerged over time.

Princess Azula of the Fire Nation was known for her cruelty and hatred. It remains unexplained, but it is speculated that Azula's hatred so strongly fueled her bending that her fire became blue from the intensity and heat. She is the only firebender we have seen to bend blue fire. When clashing with other firebenders this trait creates beautiful fight scenes and cinematic masterpieces.

Avatar Korra, the last avatar in the first 10,000 year Avatar Cycle, had the biggest challenging with airbending out of all the bending disciplines. Normally, the element opposite of the avatar's born element is their most challenging, implying that the Water Tribe native Korra would have the most trouble learning to firebend. However, though Korra was born in the Southern Water Tribe, her personality and bending style fit much more in line with that of an earthbender, which clarifies why air, the element of freedom and detachment, was so challenging for Korra, a natural earthbender which focuses on stability and firmly rooting oneself.

Sokka ran with the bending move to take down an entire fleet of Fire Nation air ships by hijacking a ship and using the air ship to slide across over a dozen air ships, ripping them open and taking them down.

Fire Lord Ozai was the second firebender to demonstrate his ability to fly using his firebending. The unprecedented technique had only been demonstrated once before by his prodigy daughter, Princess Azula. In this scene, the power of Ozai's firebending is multiplied tenfold, as Sozin's comet, a comet that passes through Earth's atmosphere once per century, neared. This comet gave firebenders unbelievable strength. It is unknown whether Ozai's ability to use his firebending was restricted to the time when the comet was near and boosting the firebenders' bending, or if it was a skill he simply developed close to the end of the timeline of the show's history and was able to use outside of that time. Regardless, the answer would never be discovered as Avatar Aang used a new technique of bending the energy within himself and others to take away Firelord Ozai's firebending permanently.

Great modding, Glitch. I like what you said about visually appealing, I think that's super important for the overall feel of the game as well.

You should try designing your own setup, I'd like to see what you do with it.

Thank you so much! I got a major job promotion right in the middle of this game in early D2. It really stressed me out and I was struggling to keep up, especially being in 2 other ongoing games at the same time. I'm really thankful for Gypyx stepping in to help or things would have gotten a bit rough.

My new job is a ton of hours (I'm usually working about 65 hours a week now) so I don't think I'll be modding any others any time soon. I'd love to design one and maybe even provide formatting and flavor for another mod who has more time to run VC's and process actions and phases in a more timely manner. I enjoy formatting and making threads visually appealing -- it was really important to me this game and even though my activity suffered, I really wanted to make sure I maintained a high standard for all threads, even private ones.

If you ever want to work together to design and mod a game together I would love to do so with you! I'll format and flavor for you and we can design a fun one together.
