original. The players of the U.S. version have decided on both of those (and got rid of auctions) for their game.

If you don't want to buy a property, anybody (including the player that gave it up) can bid on it to try to gain ownership of it. The lowest bid allowed is £1.

Auctions also happen if the bank (as opposed to another player) bankrupts somebody or more than one player wants more houses and/or hotels total than there are for sale. In the event of houses and hotels, the starting bid is equal to the building cost on the least expensive property the bidders want to put houses on.

If a player elects to buy, he pays the Bank for that property and receives the Title Deed card showing ownership which he places face-up in front of him. If the player declines his option, the Banker must immediately offer this property for sale by auction and must sell it to the highest bidder, accepting money in payment, and give the buyer the proper Title Deed card as evidence of ownership. Any player, including the one who declined the option of buying at the printed price, may bid. Bidding may start at any price.

When the Bank has no Houses to sell, players wishing to build must wait for some player to return or sell his Houses to the Bank before they can build. If there are a limited number of Houses and Hotels available, and two or more players wish to buy more than the Bank has, the Houses or Hotels must be sold by auction to the highest bidder.

In case a player is unable to raise money enough to pay his taxes or penalties, even by selling his buildings and mortgaging his property, the Bank will take over all his assets and sell by auction to the highest bidder everything so taken except the buildings.

I say that instead of chess pieces, we use little flat, round pieces. Red and black should work.

No way guys, I like to play regular, original Chess.

Anyone who plays REAL Chess enough gets bored of it very quickly. You have to mix it up a little, add a little spice to the game. DUH!!11!!11!!!!shift1!!111!
