FWIW, Avalon was a gift from my fiancee's best friend. It's not something I would have picked.

It is fun at higher numbers! Though I think I've tended towards games where bluffing is part of the mechanics rather than the sole driver of the game.

There's one my Brother In Law was saying that this was a part of it. Like you could lie about having certain cards and if people call you out and you don't have it, the penalty is worse.

We were definitely drinking by the time he brought it up, so, Coup could very well be the correct game, I tend to have bad memory while drinking, even though I rarely get drunk.

Have you had infection cubes on the board? We were able to stop the trials and didn't have to deal with those. Felt like it was complex for us without even dealing with those.

one city each time, i have NO idea how you're supposed to get THREE teams on the board to deal with those cities

Board games update.

Game night last night we played a round of Munchkin Marvel. It was fun.

Bigger, we had a four player game of Gloomhaven after dinner.

Party was Brother in Law was Cragheart, his Girlfriend was Tinker, my fiancée was Spell weaver, and I was Mindthief. Well, we made it by the skin of our teeth on the first encounter. On literally my last possible turn I hit the last enemy hard enough to take him out because I had a bunch of debuffs on hitting. So, wow, we need to be better.

Mindthief is Hella fun, though, even if I might be the fastest to level and the fastest to get the new class on it.

I got 25 exp in the first fight and I am 4/20 elites slain to get two minis.

Mindthief has some really great cards as you level up. By level 8 or 9, it is a really hard hitting character you'll be reluctant to retire!

I feel bad that I took the kill 20 elites for it. Do I have to retire it when I fulfill that? Scabbers is real fun making the enemies attack each other

You do have to retire, yes. It's not like you've no control over it, though. Not killing elites should be pretty easy.

Although 25 xp is a crazy amount, even for the mindthief. (Also Spellweaver should be able to keep up xp wise for the most part)

I was the only one really thinking about XP gains and my fiancée who was the spell weaver kept forgetting to use the ones to give exp.

Also we got 10 just for finishing the thing. One of them I got a few extra XP just for the fact that I hit things with multiple debuffs. All of a sudden one of my cards got me 4 XP

Yep. You have to be the one to kill it.

Same for anyone else that has a kill X <things> life goal.
