I vote for pressure, press for claim, make a decision to end or extend the day, and then identify what strategy makes sense for scum. It's a recipe that works well for me, and is general enough that it can't be counterplayed.

I took that game to heart and changed my play after. Hopkirk and Uncrowned can attest to me not taking center stage anymore and allowing the game to flow without me picking it apart and prodding at it insistently. We won our last game as town quite nicely.

You have one point which is potentially right--I don't really see why ABR would sheep me, because I would expect him to lack that respect in my capabilities, for him to not think I really have a good read on the state of the game. i think day 1's have diminishing returns without seeing flips, i believe scum are better than town at making a situation good for them the longer the day goes after a certain point, i believe that there is an instrinsic value to cutting days short when the are exhausting to preserve town sanity, and i believe we have enough information to make an informed enough decision as it can be for day 1.
