There's no reason for town!Sweet and Salty to not announce intent to self. It gives them a chance to talk and engage with the players. It allows them to improve their reads. If they actually want to commit to the self-hammer because they feel like their flip is important for some reason, they have that option as well after they obtained some reads that they can feel a bit better about. Announcing intent to self allows them to do more things as a player as not doing that and just selfing.

If they're a villager, they posted it because they're super into the gimmick.

I don't necessarily think town is eating itself alive, but I don't think that the game state is healthy which is always a bad sign. A healthy game state means that people want to come in and post in this the thread - healthy game state means people are having fun and people are making emotional connections with one another, which means that scum feel guilty for fooling one another and thus it's a hell of a lot harder to hide.

Hilariously enough, the most important piece that I gleamed from Mollie when I played with her was the importance of gamestate health - ask her about what I'm seeing and I'm sure she'll be able to explain it better than I am.

I still need to do reading. I hyperfocused on Cabd during my busy time bc Cabd is a RL friend who tends to talk a lot of shit so I'm particularly invested in putting him in his place, but I don't have a good picture of the gamestate overall.

Okay yeah I agree with you and I'm glad we're seeing eye to eye when it comes to this because part of that is why me and mollie weren't posting. the people that i care about right now is {misty waters, firebringer}. those two people are my life boats this game because NOT ONLY are they very firm townreads for me, but i trust what they're seeing within the game itself. i'm excited to place firebringer here - i think this is a weird intersection of a game where he and i both thrive because we are vibing in a way we've never vibed before minus the me not being the best shitposter ever point. i like sense of urgency behind mw's frustration wrt the gamestate - the easiest thing to do when nothing is happening is let apathy thrive but i could feel them flailing a bit trying to get something started. i think maybe mollie's reachout to FL happens as either alignment but i don't think that it happens the same way if she's scum. the words to describe the difference aren't really coming to me now.

i really don't like brutualism. the cabd side i'm familiar with and there's just nothing from the slot that's resonated to me. i've expected strategy comments, i've expected him to come out in thread and push shit, i've expected more commentary on people that he's decided to seek out this game. i understand the gimmick but i don't think that them being mean to people has really added any value to the game so far - you can make roasting fun but that doesn't seem like his intention this game. i don't get why he has interactions with gamma + noraa the way he does if town. if town he's crossing some lines but if scum he's doing his job. i don't like their breaking the gimmick to shoot the shit with me when they won't break the gimmick to build relationships with town. i don't like nor understand their battlemage vote; they outlined decent commentary on BM as town vs scum and now am voting him after he fell pretty squarely on the town side. i currently think that they are a decent part of the reason thread health is in a nasty place; they're tearing people down, they're acting like there's nothing wrong in thread even though everyone can feel it, like i just can't justify voting anywhere but here.

cabd, if you're town, please cool it on the jackass bit. you usually do a good job striking a balance between people wanting to punch you with a smile on their face because of mischeviousness and people wanting to punch you because you deserve it and you're trending too far to the latter. i don't need you to kill the gimmick completely, but i need something more from you and fast because i'm very very close to the point of no return with you.

A bold claim to be sure, but one based on what exactly? I only see 2 slots doing anything this game, and that's Firebringer and Elon Musk. These two slots have been driving content and forcing responses out of players no matter how they can to better read them. These players are what the foundation of this game is built upon, and without them, the game would crumble and collapse into apathy and resentment; likely leading to the game being abandoned.

I really like this observation on Brutalism's post. I literally posted "lol, what is this post" in mine and Alisae's chat, so I echo Elon's sentiments here. However I disagree with their self-assessment, because I do not see them as a driving force in this game. Generating a lot of interactions is good for the gamestate and moves it forward, but the impact is relatively low. Their push on Mistyx has not been strong until S&S began to make it viable. So this slot remains solidly unsure.

Which leads me to my original point. That post from Brutalism is a

read and it's a hypocritical one. Let town talk amongst themselves, townslip, drink wine, towntell, have boxing fights. At the end of the day, you'll have 10 town with good reasons to townread, and then the 5 scum remain, all unwilling to play the game and do anything, withering away while they sleek back to where they came.

The solution? There is one monumental and thread-shattering action we can take to remedy this game. It's dangerous, and it'll cause an influx of 50 pages in a matter of hours, and it's rather simple; all we have to do is- hang on, I just heard a banging sound, I need to check on this.

This slot has been reasonably active throughout the game, yet their play is a little awkward. Despite their complaints of people not playing the game, I don't like how they shut down wagons that formed on Gamma, and Sweet and Salty. They did this with Gamestop as well, responding to BBMolla's vote (which was the first vote) stating they were confused at the vote while also liking it, just because Molla miselim'd based on gut before. What purpose does that serve?

Saying that no scum does this in the history of ever (sic), and that there's not enough information to judge if it was a hollow threat, that the only possibility here is a villager trying to get reactions, and thus calling Gypyx scum for "missing the point" -

Yes, no scum would ACTUALLY do what Sweet and Salty was doing in that gamestate. It's way more believable as a story that they were town who tried to play the game, got wagoned, then threatened to self cuz they weren't exactly that interested. You don't get FL here, FL as scum is way more proactive and would be fighting against this with every he's got. However he's not interested in doing that. Why is he not interested? The only answer I can think for this quesiton is that he's town.

Also there isn't enough information to call that threat hollow.
- The wagon on him didn't stay at a high number of votes for decent amount of time.
- he just declared the intent, so he needs room to be able to do something with it.
- After he is given the room he needs to be able to do something with it, a window of opportunity needs to be presented where he can actually go through with it. If he does not go through with it here, we can then try to analyze all of the actions that took place inbetween the threat and up to this window of opportunity and try to figure out what the hell is actually going on.

You do not have enough information to call that threat hollow. There was no window of opportunity where he could reasonably go through with it and he didn't have enough time to try to acomplish anything with that.

bbmolla/MathBlade + BM - Both seem to be acting fairly independently without any real agenda and also the occasional mechanical talk that comes from them I feel like is more likely to come from scum than town. This is a bit lower cuz I don't think they're as townie as the players above, but I don't see an agenda coming from them, at least just not yet.

I'm not sure what it accomplishes aside from fishing for reactions, which is something you would do a a villager, but I feel like bashing everyone just can't be good for the village no? It doesn't make sense for them to drop a self-hammer when there have been no reactions to it at all, nothing, zero. If they're a villager and thats something they want to do, they'll wait for more reactions to pop up so they can be analyzed. This is the only thing that makes sense to do.

the people that i care about right now is {misty waters, firebringer}. those two people are my life boats this game because NOT ONLY are they very firm townreads for me, but i trust what they're seeing within the game itself. i'm excited to place firebringer here - i think this is a weird intersection of a game where he and i both thrive because we are vibing in a way we've never vibed before minus the me not being the best shitposter ever point. i like sense of urgency behind mw's frustration wrt the gamestate - the easiest thing to do when nothing is happening is let apathy thrive but i could feel them flailing a bit trying to get something started. i think maybe mollie's reachout to FL happens as either alignment but i don't think that it happens the same way if she's scum. the words to describe the difference aren't really coming to me now.

i don't like gamestop. gamestop's entrance to the thread was kind of like Elon's - just as lot of fucking around without much behind it. the difference between the two is that elon is still sticking his neck out a little bit with the "i'm a banned user!" and the push on sweet and salty - not *significant*, but a reason why he might get singled out from the crowd. gamestop is just... a meme account whose meme is getting a bit repetitive. and i also can't emphasize how hard it is to get into a game early as scum, and gamestop came in too late and just didn't fit in whatsoever. want to see more from this slot. like anything. at all.

i don't like hop or tweet. hopkirk seems cheery enough, but they never really dug their hooks into anything or attempted to. i get it when the gamestate is kind of wonky but the "nothing AI is happening!!" while not attempting to change it or produce content rattled me.

i really don't like brutualism. the cabd side i'm familiar with and there's just nothing from the slot that's resonated to me. i've expected strategy comments, i've expected him to come out in thread and push shit, i've expected more commentary on people that he's decided to seek out this game. i understand the gimmick but i don't think that them being mean to people has really added any value to the game so far - you can make roasting fun but that doesn't seem like his intention this game. i don't get why he has interactions with gamma + noraa the way he does if town. if town he's crossing some lines but if scum he's doing his job. i don't like their breaking the gimmick to shoot the shit with me when they won't break the gimmick to build relationships with town. i don't like nor understand their battlemage vote; they outlined decent commentary on BM as town vs scum and now am voting him after he fell pretty squarely on the town side. i currently think that they are a decent part of the reason thread health is in a nasty place; they're tearing people down, they're acting like there's nothing wrong in thread even though everyone can feel it, like i just can't justify voting anywhere but here.

This is a point in favor for Brutalism being town because Cabd probably directs NM to not suicide bomb or to suicide bomb a significantly better slot (unless scum were afraid of how much money this slot came across) but I don't care enough to stop Brutalism's death and also Brutalism's death helps me out a lot also we just have the room to make mistakes so there's no reason to kill them for free if we can.
