Never got good at fighters and it's time to try again. Picked up the Street Fighter 30th anniversary collectors edition which has basically every game through 3. Hopefully this thread will be full of gloating soon.

You'd think at some point they'd have cleaned it up and made all those CPU characters playable though. I mean there's five versions of 2 alone on this disc.

Well I got through Japan and America that time in one continue but now Lee's fucking me up that's progress though.

Gonna have to learn something beyond strong kicks at some point.

Wow I made it to Sagat spamming hadokens and shoryukens (tatsumaki senpukyaku worked instead for Adon and was working on Sagat if it was just more consistent) but I do not feel good about it. It's difficult to input the specials in this one and it's a mess of button mashing trying to pull off any of them. Checked though and they're much easier in 2 so that'll be fun when I move on.

Okay so today I can KINDA do the specials in 1 but it's really not fun. Slightly less terrible today against Lee playing for real.

Okay hadokens are great. Any of the specials really will finish an opponent in two or three hits. Adon though is very aggressive and keeps cornering me and just beating my ass. Worked pretty well on the first eight though.

Okay I can't do shoryukens though in 1 idk. Again I tried in 2 and it works fine. Tatsumakis I can do but they don't feel very helpful.

I can make exceptions in exceptional circumstances but this anniversary collection was SO convenient.

I landed so many shoryukens today. Still nowhere near consistently though. That motion is kind of a pain particularly being generally forward tending while also being something I'd usually like to block while inputting since it's for guys in your face. And that input really is terribly strict but not so bad as I thought that first day. If I can just get that one move down I'm sure I can at least beat Adon.

Yooooo I landed three back to back shoryukens on Adon and finished him off in the next round with another one. That being said Sagat is a goddamn monster! That music is catchy though.

That is to say, this is next, I did not by any means do it tonight. I still struggle to pass Lee consistently. Way better today with those shoryukens though!

Two times tonight I've gotten a simultaneous ko on Sagat in the third round. That goes to the computer. In other news you can kinda spam hadokens if he's backing away, he actually only blocks them when he's approaching you.

This game really feels like a crapshoot sometimes so idk about no continues but I'll keep practicing for now.

Also why is tatsumaki harder than hadoken they use the same motion.

Hm I wonder if the away motion in the tatsumaki input registering as a block during an enemy attack botches it?? They'd actually be kinda perfect for opening the Sagat fight if I could figure out how to make them work. He's just too far away to land a shoryuken before getting decked.

Also I have this growing suspicion that shoryukens and possibly tatsumakis are easier to pull off with heavier punches and kicks but can not imagine why that would be.

Lol fuck I had been wondering about this but couldn't really test it out but it finally happened. If the first two fights end in simultaneous knockouts and you lose the third it's a loss. I think I MIGHT have even lost had I won the third fight, since I think you have to WIN two out of three, but I didn't so that remains to be seen.

Only now does it occur to me that I don't need knockouts to win fights. I think both Chinese fighters, who previously have been giving me a little trouble each time, may be substantially easier if I just turtle in a corner trading a light jab for every attack I block, especially if I can open with a hadoken first to give me a lead. I do not however think that this will work against the Thai guys but I'm only halfway through this run so we'll see.

I did at least learn that tatsumakis are actually pretty useful against Birdie at least. Who is generally very unpredictable and dangerous.

I gave up on 1 for now and BOY is 2 a lot easier, like a lot. It's so, idk, playable compared to the first one.

Oh I just beat it of course. Bison ain't shit compared to og Sagat.

Vega is kinda dirty. Also Guile. World Warrior edition still. Shoryukens unfortunately STILL not fun especially now that they don't potentially knockout a healthy fighter in one punch. But at least now I can use someone else if I decide ryu actually just sucked all this time.

Yeah Vega is way more obnoxious than Sagat or Bison.

Hmmm if you time your jump attacks vs his so that you're higher than him when you connect you'll get the hit I guess that applies to everyone else too but he's just constantly jumping.

Also got a perfect nearly double perfect on Bison just now lol.

Daily fuck Vega no matter who I'm playing as. I hate to switch to Ryu for that fight every time when I'm trying to try out more characters. How are claws fair anyway and why can't I just put him in a headlock when he's climbing on the wall.

Perfect against Vega is so satisfying especially when I don't go on to lose the match.

YOOOOO my first time beating 1 without button mashing. Hadokens may not win consistently against Sagat but they're a lot more effective than shoryukens fuck that shit.

I hear they just added a Rival Schools character in the dlc, that's another game I have fond memories of.

Still always takes so many tries to beat Sagat in 1 but I feel like I'm getting better? In particular I realized today you can smoothly roll from a block into a hadoken that was kinda useful. And just working on making a few fewer incorrect special inputs every day.

Beat most of 1 practicing shoryukens but most of the time that meant accidentally doing hadokens instead. I managed to get hadokens pretty much down ages ago but things feel kinda bleak for the shoryuken in 1 at least.

276kg is the highest I've noticed in the strength game I wanna make a note of that somewhere. Another perfect 5:00 too. Second version in case I notice later there's a difference.
