Primary Ruleset

Summary of General Rules

6. Play to win the game and do not use provable randomness.

Summary of Deadline and Activity Rules

1. The full activity and deadline rules are located here. We will be using both the standard and experimental rules.
2. Day 1 lasts 14 days. Day 2 lasts 10 days. All other days last 7 days. Nights last 48 hours.
3. You must post at least once every 32 hours. The moderator will prod you if you do not.
4. If you have regular weekend V/LA, you must notify me each week. Please set V/LA tags in the user CP so I do not forget.
5. You are expected to post more than the bare minimum dictated by these rules.
6.

Day 1 has a minimum deadline of three (3) days. Day 2 has a minimum deadline of two (2) days. Days 3+ have a minimum deadline of one (1) day. Votes will still count during this time period.

This is waived with five or fewer living players.

7. While you may double-post,

further posting in a row is heavily discouraged.

8.

Players that have a disproportionate number of posts at the end of a day phase will lose their vote in the following day.

For minis, this is defined as 20% of the game's posts.

Voting Rules

1. The thread has been setup to work with both Thesp's votecounter as well as MathBlade's vote counter. You may use either one for unofficial vote counts, and I will also be using them.

Please clearly mark any unofficial vote counts as such.

2. I will also be going back and manually counting votes. Thus, you may see three different vote count styles this game. Please do not be alarmed by this.
3. Abbreviations are allowed. Please let me know of any common abbreviations so that I can add them to the vote counter settings.

Setup-Specific Rules

1. During signups, all players submitted to me at least one

mafia

werewolf

role, and one other role that may be of any alignment from the Grand Idea Mafia thread. Each player has a 65% chance of rolling their town pick, 20% chance of rolling their mafia/werewolf pick, and 15% chance of rolling their other pick. If the setup had fewer than 7 townies or 2 mafia/werewolves rolls, I rerolled the setup. (The two mafia/werewolves rolls do not have to end up being the same alignment.)
2. Standard win conditions are as follows:

Cult

: You win when all threats to the cult have been eliminated and at least one cultist is still alive or when nothing can prevent this from happening.

Neutral Survivor

: You win if you are alive at the end of the game. You may win with other factions.

: You win if you are executed. You may win with other factions.

Unjester

: You win if you are not executed. You may win with other factions.

This game is bastard.

Expect anything and everything, including the moderator confirming information that is strictly untrue (e.g.: a werewolf as aligned with the town).
4. This setup uses roles from #0 to #10205 in the Grand Idea Mafia thread.

Balance is explicitly not guaranteed.

In addition,

this game is not confirmed to have two scum of the same faction and thus may not have an informed minority.

It is guaranteed that there are at least seven (7) town and two (2) scum.
6. Duplicate picks are allowed (as in, two players could have picked the exact same post from the Grand Idea Mafia thread).
7. Unless otherwise specified, all private topics have day talk by default.
8. Unless otherwise specified, factional abilities cannot be used at the same time as active abilities.
9. This game will, to the best of my ability, use Natural Action Resolution.

10.

Do NOT quote your role pm under any circumstances, including private topics where it may appear that everyone is the same alignment.

Due to the nature of Grand Idea Mafia, nothing can be guaranteed including that mafia are truly mafia, etc.

"Thank you for gathering here today. It is the time that we all have been waiting for," states one figure admidst you. Another begins speaking, "Indeed, it is. Today is a very special day." The first figure begins speaking again, "Now, does everyone remember their instructions?" Each of you give an affirmative nod. "Great, then we shall begin. Remember, we cannot afford any mistakes. Now, on the count of 3, 1... 2... 3..." commands the second figure. Each of you begin to perform your part in the ritual...

It doesn't take long for a loud kaboom! to be heard. "Impossible!" shouts the first figure. "Even now, we have traitors in our midst," shouts the second one. A maniacal laughter erupts from one of you. "Hahaha! You really thought I would make this easy? Fools! Maybe I will let you finish your ritual if you find my fellow conspirators. Of course, you all will be long gone before then!" With that, the figure fades into the shadows. "Well, it seems we have a monumental task ahead us before we conduct the ritual," states the first figure. "Indeed, it looks like we will have to seek the traitors ourselves," responds the second one. With that, the two leaders walk off into a nearby area, and a noisy commotion begins amongst you.

Night 1 begins!

As night falls and the discussion begins to die, the two leaders of the gathering return to check your status.. "Have we come to a consensus yet?" asks the first one. Several of you exchange glances before pointing at mahimahi. "Very well," states the second leader as she nods approvingly. The two leaders step towards mahimahi, but before either one comes within a centimeter of mahimahi, a beam of white light begins to shine on mahimahi. Seeing the light, the two leaders stop moving. "It must be a sign!" shouts the first leader. "Indeed, mahimahi has been blessed by the powers above!" shouts the second. "We must not interfere with the gods' plans lest we face their very wrath!" exclaims the first. With that, the group of you are dismissed for the night.

Experimental Activity Rules Changes

1. Rule 4 is the main one that is changing. Instead of being based on total percentage of game posts, it is now based on standard deviation from the mean number of posts among living players (across the entire game and includes the recently executed player) minus the highest and lowest count, calculated at the end of each day. (That is, if players A, B, C, D, and E have post counts of 81, 75, 63, 32, 16 respectively, then the calculation of the mean and standard deviation will be done using the three middle values 75, 63, and 32.) somehow Town won... and I got a commendation for dayplay which is surprising - my Day 1 game is absolutely terrible

Everyone has their ups and downs, even in a single game. Overall, while your reads may not have been pinpoint accurate, I think you did a good job positioning yourself in a way that scum pretty much needed to kill you to have a chance at winning. Leadership skills are just as important to the game as reads.

Flea The Magician would have won. This was explicitly accounted for/specified in the role pm that mahimahi gets endgamed if they are the last townie alive.
