i guess it's a matter of... does he do this to me, that early on? when he knows that more often than not i am going to townread him and defend him, ESPECIALLY after a game like divide and conquer? like, isn't easier for him to just identify me as town if he knows i'm town instead of putting me through the process of having to gauge what/how he's engaging me with the scumread and figuring out if he means it or not when he can skip the middleman and use like, familiarity with me as a defense of why he just has an easy townread?

basically i think it's a lot of extra work for him if he's scum when he could just give me a townread and we could move about our merry day assuming i would think a lot less about that than i would about him coming out with a "tell", etc

This just seemed too overconfident for me. Like you’re trying to get into a fight and not solve someone’s alignment. Sha said their early reads, which clearly were meant more as conversation starters than definitive pronouncements backed by multiple pages of play, weren’t actually all that serious (which again just seems reasonable to me since it’s the early part of the game). Yet you “hate” the reaction? What I would ask you is how do you not think this is a bit over the top? I skimmed through some of your more recent posts - and now you’re constructing a universe for the game where I’m Scum because I thought maybe you pushed an argument a bit too far? Please. Unfortunately there’s an aggressiveness to it that I need to figure out where exactly it’s coming from, and whether it’s Scummy or not. I wouldn’t vote to heal you, that’s for sure.

Spoiler: theory

Every gut instinct comes from somewhere. There is something you're noticing about someone's posting that you believe would be different if they were scum/town, so your goal in explaining a gut read is to find it. Sometimes it can feel like a guess, but if you practice trying to put it into words you can get better at it. You can also compare gut reads from different games and try to see what they have in common which can help too. For example a common type of gut read for me that I didn't know how to express at first was the "fake nuance" post, where scum writes more words than they really need to express something and are using that to either hedge or look town. That's not a perfect expression of the read, and you can never get to perfect with gut reads (see my sig), but you can definitely get better. At the very least, you can maybe make someone go "hmm that seems believable" if not "I'm sold, ship it"

I completely agree with this btw. Figuring out why you have that gutread and articulating it is an essential skill that you only really learn by just playing more and more

Besides it helps me after if I’m still around. When I look back, I want to be able to remember why I felt a certain way at a particular point in the game. So it’s for me as much as it’s for everyone else.

For example: I was gutpinged by this post, and then realised it was because Andres was expressing his suspicions of Cakez directly to him, rather than to everyone else. I've seen that come from scum sometimes where they feel the need to convince the person they're scumreading that their scumread is genuine, and I've found myself doing it too at times. Would have to look at meta to see if it's actually alignment-indicative for Andres though
