therefore, i propose we hammer into defcon 4 at some coordinated or agreed upon time in thread, to maximize the ability for townies to procure their desired troop. we have the advantage of numbers, scum have the advantage of coordination: we should try to even that playing field.

at the least, all townies should have the troop draft PM to the mod ready and waiting to go as soon as we enter defcon 4.

While every game is different to me, im sure I play the same alot too. It's hard to look at oneself, but let me give it a shot. I think alot of my playstyle scum or town depends on the player list and how people interact with me. That's prolly not a great way to play (waiting for people to interact with me) but it is what it is. I also interact with people I'm familiar with, even if they dont know who I am.

Also in games like this with lots of veterans, I can sometimes play more quietly until I'm provoked in some way, or if I spot something I'm sure is scum. Or perhaps in this case where someone is inviting me out of my shell.

As to the second point... can you give an example (practical or theoretical) of what a town response to someone telling you to "Please be town" would look like?

(Re: UT, I would imagine it's because UT sometimes plays Warzone with me and DeathNote and thus doesn't want me to kill his only other friend in the game. Maybe not ONLY other friend, but there's an IRL camaraderie that I assume DN is trading on there.)

Most of the reasoning if not all of it on Mastina seems bad. Not everyone on the Mastina wagon is scum. So if Mastina is town the people who had bad reasoning and why are more likely scum. While every game is different to me, im sure I play the same alot too. It's hard to look at oneself, but let me give it a shot. I think alot of my playstyle scum or town depends on the player list and how people interact with me. That's prolly not a great way to play (waiting for people to interact with me) but it is what it is. I also interact with people I'm familiar with, even if they dont know who I am.

Also in games like this with lots of veterans, I can sometimes play more quietly until I'm provoked in some way, or if I spot something I'm sure is scum. Or perhaps in this case where someone is inviting me out of my shell.

But they didnt engage me again, just voted me when the game started. Like lots of posts after we got this:

So that was early on. I would not say prism was sticking thie neck out, because a mastina wagon did not have any momentum at that point.

There is a reason I interrogated this: I think weakly hemming and hawing at names in the POE is profoundly unproductive and more likely to do harm than good. There are names in there I feel are likely to flip town but I see no use in defending them and I recognize my own fallibility in my reads (I certainly didn't get day 1 right). If you can't bring real good reasons to townread them then you're just ruling people out for bad reasons. So far your only argument for T3 is ""playing excactly the same as last game". But is a one game sample enough? How much of his play is attiributable to his townplay, and how much of it is solely derived from personality? Without a scumgame as a comparison point this reasoning falls flat. Neither has posted anything in this game thread that feels like a strong towntell to me and the vagueness of your response pretty much shows me you're playing largely off feelings rather than anything concrete. I don't think that's a winning process

Additionally you are treating this like it is a standard game of mafia: that we are limited in our kills and are going one at a time. This is untrue. Starting tomorrow, a lot of people are going to nuked. To that end, the most productive use of all those kills is killing people who are never going to be worthy of clearing.

Fair points. Most of this is in my head, so let me look back and remember, and give some more detail. At the start of Defcon 3 I started the push on mastina. VFP jumped in there with me, with a naked vote, and that's prolly why I have a light town read on them. Then there was a small (very small) push on me, with prism and robert. I've detailed prisms actions and why I think they are similar to mastina and are scummy in another post. T3 jumps in to defend me right after this push. He COULD have jumped on the Vaxkiller wagon if he was scum, but choose to call out robert for his naked vote.

I also like how T3 voted for mastina. He could have just changed his mind and scum read her, but instead we got this:

I figured the IV slot would be nuked for sure, and it seemed like a waste. If I checked them and they were scum - getting nuked anyway - If I checked them and they weren't scum - I would likely have to out myself to protect them, which (as you can see) I was not interested in doing.
