why would you buy a curse

Possible reasons include:
To trigger a 3-pile ending
To give to your opponent with ambassador (Though not actually sure but I think this strategy is more shiny than it is good)
Various cards which give you VP or other bonuses based on number of differently named cards in your deck.
Maybe some very strange game involving gardens and blockade where a curse yields less curses than a copper, but probably not.
