Kinda neutral about the Google Game 45, but if it happens I'd spectate.
Maybe less of a prod and more of a... reminder? I dunno; prod sounds kinda formal, but I do think that, if someone hasn't posted for a while after a clue is revealed, maybe the spymaster can at least notify them that there's a clue? But I also kind of don't like that because it risks the spymaster needing to be responsible for the team and encourages players to not check in and keep track of the game themselves, so it's not really fair to the spymaster.

Uhh for 1) i dont mind either option but would prefer no googling
I have no problem with any sort of PM-based system to let players know it's their turn, so long as the PM is kept bare-bones (maybe require a template?) and it's limited to once per turn.
I would not play in the Google-based game. That takes all the fun out of the game. If we're talking about variants, I would love to see Duet pop up at some point.
Agree with Farren - I’d be ok with prods as long as the spymaster uses a pre-determined message and is limited to once per turn. also would not play in a game that allows googling. I’ve never played duet but looks interesting.

1) Why don’t you run BOTH a google and a non-google versuon?
2) Send a reminder to one’s teammates since people sometimes can forget they’re in a game.

Okay so sounds like a resounding no on having a special google game, tbh I agree but it sounded like a fun idea I figured I'd throw it out there.
Farren does have a great suggestion though, what'd people think about having a game of Codenames Duet? maybe even as a competition style thing where we have loads of pairs, each pair has the same grid and we see which pair can win in the fewest moves? I had something like this planned out for a Survivor challenge once but never got round to putting it into a game haha
So yeah, if people are down for it I'd be happy to run it for game 45 instead.
For those who don't know, duet is a 2 player co-op variant in which you take turns being spymaster for the same grid and you're trying to help each other find all 15 correct words, but you only have 9 words each (some of the words overlap).
Also, I'm gonna rule it that anyone is allowed to send a PM to a player on their team saying: "It's our teams turn!" and nothing else in the message
So it's kinda like a prod/a reminder. I will say though, please don't over use it to the point of annoying a player, 1 reminder per round and you should post in the thread to say you've done the reminder so that others don't also send a reminder.
I will not be getting involved in sending reminder PMs

The main differences between Duet and regular:
1) Duet is co-operative; regular is competitive.
2) There are no Blue words vs. Red words; there are only Green words/agents- but the Green words are different for each Spymaster. The Spymasters have to identify 15 agents amongst the 25 words.
3) More assassins! Three assassins per Spymaster instead of just one. (Makes up for the fact that there are no longer "enemy" agents to work around.)
4) The Spymasters alternate between giving and guessing; when they're guessing, they're allowed to talk and discuss (although they can't discuss clues they gave or which words belong to them).
5) Duet's meant for smaller groups - it can support as few as two players. (More can still play, though.)
Oh, and Duet's difficulty is scalable. You can reduce (or increase) the number of turns, or set a limit on how many bystanders you're allowed to tag before Bad Things happen.

assuming green means neutral in this case? Also, im assuming by this ruleset, techinally everyones a spymaster? or how does it work. Is it like a spymaster per player(then they switch)? Like in groups of 2?
Player 1 gets to see the top keycard and has to give clues to get Player 2 to guess the nine green words on the top keycard. Player 2 gets to see the bottom keycard and has to give clues to get Player 1 to guess the nine green words on the bottom keycard.
As far as how to handle more than two players - it's up to the Mod. Could either divide everyone into two teams and have everyone be Spymasters; could divide everyone into two teams and assign one Spymaster to each team; could just have the two Spymasters while everyone else is allowed to work actively for both of them.
P-Edit: as far as discussion goes, Spymasters are allowed to openly discuss clues they've received when it's their turn to guess; they just can't discuss clues they have given or what their keycard looks like. As long as the Spymasters follow that rule, there should be more discussion, not less.
/in for codenames duet as well. I like to be challenged.

Also, what is NM doing? Worst play I’ve ever seen.
I can't remember the last N_M post that wasn't bland, unimaginative and lame. Some shitposters are at least somewhat funny. You are the epitomy of the type of poster that nobody would miss if you were to suddenly disappear. You never add anything of value.
I'm guessing you haven't read the game and probably never will? Why even sign up to play?
I think this is streamer like a youtube streamer, so the first words I see are net, screen, and tube
It could also be streamer like the tissue paper strips that you put up at parties, so that could maybe be wind? but I feel like it’s probably just the person streamer.
