I’m just gonna go ahead and let house argue that all of houses reasons for house being town are bullshit and go to bed.
This is most certainly not a strategy I’ve seen before though."He brings the cool and the muscle" -FakeGod

Not off the top of my head. I can point at things that are similar in one way or another, but I’d have to do a deep dive to look for similarities. In post 2025, Something_Smart wrote:Bingle, can you provide some examples of you doing similar things to the Wisdom hammer?
If you’d like me to, say so, but it’s definitely atypical of both my scum and townplay."He brings the cool and the muscle" -FakeGod

Me, when questioned about why I made that post the day after. In post 749, Bingle wrote:
Frustration. It’s not like that was the first time I’d asked why people were townreading duck, and as far as I can tell the answer has been pretty much “Deal with it” with absolutely no consideration of my arguments. In post 744, imaginality wrote:Does anyone want to talk about how Bingle asked Wisdom a question, then hammered before getting an answer?
I was annoyed by the complete lack of engagement with what seemed to me to be an obvious scumcase on duck and the repeated insistence despite, you know, everything I'd posted that I was lockscumming Ali/House. House, imagine and Taly were tunneling on Wis because of what felt like dumb reasons, although honestly I can't remember what they were, and I was hoping that flipping Wis would make it possible to get traction on the duck case.
Compare, why would scum me be rushing to eliminate the eightball in return for my own lim? I'd posted quite a bit while Wisdom was at E-1, but I didn't decide to 'scumclaim' until after taking the time to explain why I was town, and indeed, convincing MT of it? House had just said he thought I was town, MT had just unvoted me, and I wouldn't actually be worried that the only other person in the thread who'd expressed suspicion of me (imagine) would seriously support my elimination over Wisdom's if I were scum with him."He brings the cool and the muscle" -FakeGod

At the point of the hammer? Unlikely. I took literally everyone in the thread (including wisdom) prodding me for thinking he might be as an indication he wasn’t.
It’s why I was willing to make that trade. In hindsight, that was really dumb, because of course scum is going to try to convince people that the eight ball isn’t the eightball, but hindsight is 20/20."He brings the cool and the muscle" -FakeGod

Actually looking back it was house and wisdom who convinced me wis wasn’t 8 ball. Why are you townreading house’s early play again?"He brings the cool and the muscle" -FakeGod

As an attempt to help you see my headspace around that time: my previous game I was shittunneled for a “scum slip” that was literally the town role pm I was sent to the point where I was frustrated enough to replace out for a lack of fun in a game for the first time ever.In post 2030, Something_Smart wrote:I mostly just don't understand the town motivation for it at all.
In this game, ducks was openly avoiding answering every question directed his way, and my case on him for that was receiving less attention than him literally editing one of my posts to say something else and then calling it a scum slip. Ali’s response to me asking to engage over the read was literally replacing out. Taly voted him for like a page and then invited with the reasoning of “I’d like to see his answers to the questions.” Wisdom said he was locktowning him, with no additional reasoning. House’s stated reasoning for townreading him was “You’re not gonna like the answer.”
I asked Wisdom to explain his duck read, and then accumulated frustration kicked in and I hammered. Was it dumb? Sure. But I can’t exactly go back and fix it now, can I?
Nor was it a scum move: if I had been scum there, I wasn’t actually in a bad place. I had a reasonable tunnel on someone that was largely being ignored and the thread seemed determined to vote off the guy who turned out to be the eightball with or without my input. The main person suspecting me had just turned that around, and the only other people suspecting me were the person steadfastly refusing to engage with anyone and the person who was at e-1 for the 3rd(?) time that day."He brings the cool and the muscle" -FakeGod

All I can offer is what I thought at the time. My impression was that everyone but me and Taly thought wisdom being an eightball was ridiculous, and so would have been unlikely to 8ball wis. I know now that I was wrong, but that doesn’t change what I thought then."He brings the cool and the muscle" -FakeGod

Okay, now that I can stop lying: my hammer day 2 was in fact a scum claim. I did it because imagine asked me to and the Taly hammer that wasn’t + the replacements had me slightly tilted.
My not being around both during duck and tweet paranoiaing and ss and tweet paranoiaing were both unavoidable RL things, although I knew my presence in those times was important to winning the game."He brings the cool and the muscle" -FakeGod

Thanks for the game, particularly SS. That last phase was the most fun I’ve had in a while, and definitely Mr dargons for putting up with us. I hope there’s no hard feelings House, I knew tilting you was my best shot at winning here so I was being a little bit more in your face than I normally prefer.

FWIW I thought you were obvtown. Something to do with not posting in the scum PT, probably, but I like to think I'd have townread your play regardless. In post 2059, Wisdom wrote:I havent been mislim'd in ages I believe, this game serves as shock that either the site meta is less forgiving towards my playstyle now or I am rusty and don't actually play like I used to"He brings the cool and the muscle" -FakeGod

I don’t recall Wisdom never explaining himself, just only explaining things when absolutely necessary.
But yeah, a lot of the players who used to be virtually untouchable as eliminations aren’t nearly as hard to kill as they used to be. At least those ones that are still around.
And fwiw in the current meta I think both ducky and Taly are harder mislims, though probably not by much. Heading into this game I said that I could see any elimination D1 without any being exceptionally more likely, and I stand by that.
Also, I really don’t think that fighting for your 8ball is a good idea as scum and"He brings the cool and the muscle" -FakeGod

in the case where 8 balling No Elim is allowed it's basically always the right play D1."He brings the cool and the muscle" -FakeGod

Subject: Micro 1029: 8-Ball (but with Wolves) MOD PT
I think this is the wrong call specifically because you're using intent. Like, as a mod you should never be trying to figure out the intent of a player because you have additional information and thus can modspew players as certain alignments. Particularly in this case, modspewing Taly as town.Save The Dragons wrote:RE: Taly's quote vote
I've decided to rule that as not a valid vote, because of intent.
Since Taly didn't intend to vote Alisae, Taly just messed a quote tag, I've decided to rule this way. It's not an easy call to make because Taly messed up but I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt here.
Happy to discuss this ruling further after the game, if you have any issues with it, please don't hesitate to contact me or a listmod, just note the difficult position a mod is placed in when something like this happens.
I think the action itself (choosing not to count a vote because it was in broken tags) is reasonable, but the second you as a mod are looking at the intent of the players something is wrong."He brings the cool and the muscle" -FakeGod

My stance isn't that not counting the vote is wrong. My stance is specifically that basing whether the vote counted on the intent of a player is a bad way to make the call.In post 2088, Taly wrote:I believe the mod did fine. I think another good response for the mod would just be to confirm with me in PM if my vote was intentional... which it wasn't.
Better ways:
1. An explicit rule like SS's.
2. Asking someone who isn't spoiled as to the alignment of the voter to make the call. (Presumably a listmod who is not in the game.)
3. Making a value call that you universally wouldn't accept votes inside of broken tags.
I tend to lean the opposite way having thought about it since it happened (if an automated votecounter would count it I would) mostly because I wouldn't always notice broken tags especially in a fast paced game, but the what is not at all what I think was wrong. Nor am I blaming STD for his choice. I am explaining why I think the way he went about making the choice was a bad set of criteria because I want to have better games in the future.
Don't get me wrong, STD did a great job and town deserved the win. I just always think it's worth talking about what could be done better so that it is, in fact, done better. Even if that's by someone entirely unrelated to the game who just happens to see it."He brings the cool and the muscle" -FakeGod
