Huge false dichotomy, get a "stickless stick" like hitbox. There's a soft consensus it's the best control for fighting games
"Let us say that you are right and there are two worlds. How much, then, is this 'other world' worth to you? What do you have there that you do not have here? Money? Power? Something worth causing the prince so much pain for?'"
"Well, I..."
"What? Nothing? You would make the prince suffer over... nothing?"

And once you had unlocked all the Kongs the backtracking was a lot less. But there was so much fun little things within DK that it always had something fun to do. Yeah, it might not have been as fun as BK but I still rank it as one of my top games.
BK simply has the best pacing of the three and for the collectathon genre pacing is kind of pivotal. (Backtracking proportions are part of that). Agree or disagree

I agree to an extent in that it simplifies it a bit. I do agree the collecting is a bit silly in DK, but I think it has more than enough innovation to counterbalance the pacing issues.
Mostly retired. Unless you ask or it's something interesting.
my first ever game was Mario World, I had to have a minor surgery (outpatient, nothing too serious) when I was about 4 or 5, and the doctor took me to a room with a SNES for an hour or so so I could play something while I was being observed to make sure I was okay afterwards.
Probably arcade games like Breakout or Space Invaders or something Pac-Man ish.
At home though, I remember that we had a Coleco Adam.
The pic looks fancier than the one I had. I don't remember us having any cartridge games or that fancy controller on the right. Plus the monitor was a more older model of green on black.
I think (and this is back when I was 5 or 6 years old) that my dad might have used it for word processing or taxes or some such, but there were some "data pack" cassettes that let you program and store programs in BASIC, so I had learned to program it a little bit (real simple stuff, obv).

For context I played various atari and PC games before I ever knew that an NES existed or been exposed to that at all. It probably was an era specific game and it would be really hard to actually enjoy now but back in the day there wasn't much else to play so it was the greatest thing ever then.

How do you feel about space invaders vs. galaga?
I tried both around the same time (1996 or so) when we got a collection of old arcade games - PC edition - and Space Invaders always felt like the inferior cousin of Galaga to me, I'm curious if you felt the opposite.

Never had occasion to play it. I looked it up and it looks like a game that improves on space invaders which makes sense since it came out after.
On my x-Box I have a game Martian Invaders which is like Space Invaders without the fucking bases or whatever those things are supposed to be.
I also had wanted to mention since we are talking about older games that I've been seeing that pandora arcade advertising but I don't know if I want to drop $300 on it.
Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
Charmander was my very first so that's up there. I've really been enjoying the Eevee family as a whole lately so I'll say Eevee. And I've always wanted a Snorlax for a bed. Oh and Magikarp lol.
I actually don't think I really have a favorite, the variety is why I like them so much. My first Eevee became a Flareon so maybe that. Umbreon is definitely cool. Or like Sylveon lol.
