This forum is specifically for discussing non-Mafia games

.
Playing

PS5 Question

I wonder what the Sony version of the RRoD will be called. :giggle:

Sure, the newer consoles may not burn out *right away*, but the hotter a computer runs, the shorter its life cycle.

The heatsinks function better and dissapate heat better than the models they are replacing. This is basically what's happened with every other console revision that has ever come out. (Higher exhaust temps actually indicate more heat is exiting the system rather than actually building up in it.)

I don't recall other consoles running 5⁰ Celsius hotter after a cost cutting downgrade.

I remember this article because it's months old... or rather one like it. But no measuring the exhaust temperature coming out of the console and getting a higher reading doesn't mean it's running hotter. It's only a measure of heat dissapation. It's possible the system is running hotter but no one has actually proven that yet because in order to do so you would need the means to measure the actual chipset itself.

True. My refrigerator always blows out 100⁰ air when I grab some milk.

If it's blowing out hotter air, it's because the case is hotter. Otherwise it can't blow out... hotter air.

The internals are operating at up to 95⁰, with the maximum temp being 100⁰, right?

That's all well and good as long as the console is kept in ideal circumstances, but any kind of enclosed space, dust buildup, or whatever that negatively impacts the effectiveness of the already taxed cooling setup is going to push it into the critical range.

I mean I could explain to you how I've worked with computers for years and actually studied them in college including how heatsinks actually work.

Or... I could post this which explains that the new cpus actually run cooler. (And actually came out a week after the original article after someone actually did bother to measure the internal CPU temps.)

I mean, if you're just going to mock me by pasting the link from the OP and claim it supports whatever you want to believe, this isn't going to go anywhere productive anyway.
