Some people thought my last game was pretty good, since I was a universal townread who chose and forced through all 4 elims in the game, from 9p to 3p. Personally, I thought it was a fucking horrible performance, barely worth playing, and that I should have lost three times over, but that's splitting hairs.

Winning via forceful and continuous tonal bludgeoning with absolutely no art to it was lackluster.

D&C actually isn't a good sample of my scumgame, as I was under extreme personal duress for most of the game that made it difficult to stay motivated & focused. It's just recent.

The one before that, Iceland, is a better sample.

Where's the strawberry-haired avatar Prism? It had a big part in making me clumsy in Forest Fire Redux. It felt like you can peer into my soul and see me for the scum that I am.

These are fundamentally different mechanically, and it's hard to fault pressing on an "anxious" ping.

Does HEM, worried about a more cooperative tone with me getting scumread, try something more immediately confrontational instead? I'm not really sure. His overall play in Trust Fall suggest an aggressive and pressuring style, but very early it's typically a different story, and he thinks of me as a different class of animal.

42 & 48 were intentionally deceptive posts, partially to get you to more fully flesh out what your expectations for scumplay from me were, but mostly for fun. The reactions placed a very high bar, rejecting a nuanced meta attempt and activity as unlikely to be AI.

This makes me question the belief that I'd trip with nervousness over an RVS vote, instead of just having fun with my pet cat, but I don't think they're decisively incongruent.

It's not really relevant to the quote. I can stare all day at the early questions to me and based off of what I most recently ate make a guess as to whether or not they're in good faith. I think the ones here are much more simplistic and reactionary, which tells me little.

I want different players and different opinions to think about. Voting you to bait them out my be one way to get it, but it's not the one I chose.

89 came at a time I was considering previous pages and what to do. I had a phase where I thought that without trying the standard cooperative angle as scum first, you wouldn't try the more aggressive angle. Ie. Why change and mix-up without feedback?

I still don't know the answer, but I hated doing nothing and decided to throw a line to see if I could get some more initiative from a stray cat instead.

My own thinking is that this is a bit too harsh for HEM. I think keying on on my intro only becomes questionable when a certain meta expectation of me is added on top. Enchant is pretty standard and I have accepted I will never be able to read that fucker.

Some final thoughts before I dip for a minute and just let things play out:

-HEM running people through pressure question gauntlets is pretty typical for him as town. I'm not completely sold he doesn't take a proactive approach as scum to try and throw me off, but meh. More time needed.
-Andante has a predisposition to townread people defending or at least not attacking her. Here, true or not, she was posting as though she did not have knowledge of my reaction to her wagon.

Vote itself doesn't really anything to do with our history, I just don't have a better vote in my mind ATM. Roden would be the lazy alternative because the playstyle is just obnoxious, Enchant is a YOLO third.

I guess I just don't get that Andante read. Her reaction to the wagon was more muted than usual. She normally freaks out more as either alignment, so I was actually really glad to see something restrained (Which is why I gave the "Lord forgive them...but no more activity problems" spiel). It's just weird to townread that when from my perspective it's a switch up from both scum & town play.

I would like other people to join on cat. I thought his reaction to Andante was shit play, and I'm not inclined to let him get away with the demotivated/don't care card when it's in his toolkit. I'm fine letting the "not giving Prism attention" comment pass as a joke, but as a serious characterization it's misleading and dismissive.

I'm going to need awhile to figure out what Andante is, even though I think that's very manageable. I really don't look for the same things other people do, where they run her up and test her emotionally.

Bellaphant is an okay vote. Very null intro imo. She's V/LA but I could be convinced to go fishing.

Then there's a whole cast of null/null-leans I could maybe vote (Skitter, Roden, Enchant, etc.) but they're posting anyway so shrug.

Cat's of a similar school of thought to me when it comes to demoralizing town: "Misery loves company". He can be a cynical lazy sack of shit as town, but it's fundamentally a town problem if they let him drag down their morale.

Since his run-in with ND39 in Slaughter Hour, he'll quit interacting when someone suggests that they're suffering real out-of-game consequences, which is what happened with Ydrasse.

I can't say I explicitly scumread the "don't care" vibe, but he does it as scum. In particular in PYP his strategy was just to stall, make the game a complete slog, and just N1 me as he knew I was about to powershove him D2 when he realized he the wrong tonal points at the end of Day 1.

I don't care if he interacts with me specifically, but force him to play better and more proactively, because he absolutely can.

Sure, if you want. Spoilered because it's hyperspecific and appallingly egotistical.

My normal style works and I would need no changeup, just general proactivity.

If the pressure of other players required a deviation, there are a few different angles I could play up. Specifically with you, the tonal key would be to play very hard but have occasional moments of illusionary vulnerability shining through, something akin to determination clashing with faltering confidence in reaction to interrogation or in the context of a push.

There are more heavy-handed tools in the set. The most straightforward is to explicitly tonematch my push on you in Forest Fire but against another player to get a free miselim at a price. There's also probably something promising in working with more of a Dwlee's Trust Fall approach, with establishing myself first as a general TR but then using it to empower you and drive an elim for me. That one would need more workshopping.

So far, my play is pretty standard.
