With Nero Cain getting banned I figured we may as well get this made and started now, since there are a few added wrinkles from a logistical standpoint.

Rules:

Don't join unless you will participate for the entire season. Failure to do so may result in relegation or banning from the league.
All moves should be made with the intent of improving your team. Collusion is not acceptable.

Rosters and Scoring:

Last year, rosters were 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX, 1 D/ST, 1 K, 7 BN, 2 IR; Scoring was Yahoo! standard, half PPR.
Like last year, I'm hoping to set up a Google Forms poll in the coming weeks to decide potential rule changes. Rules for scoring, rosters, and other things may be changed based on the results of this poll. If you'd like to suggest a rule change, suggest it in this thread and I will include it as long as you get at least one person to co-sign.

League Setup:

We will have one or more leagues of 8, 10, 12, or 14 depending on the number of players signing up (with League 1 having 12 players if at all possible). Invites will go out to the previous year's participants based on order of finish, in order to form League 1. The order of finish being used to determine this is in this post.
Around early-mid August, I will fill League 1 and assign remaining players to League 2 (and 3, if needed). After that, each league will open a Whenisgood or similar and use that to determine when their draft will occur.
Don't start a league to "help out". I will select a commish for each League once I know who is going to be in each one (since I could still be in either league, depending on who from League 1 returns).

In the past, it didn’t actually matter because we only had four teams make the playoffs. Yahoo only does a consolation bracket that’s the same size as the playoff bracket, so what happened was 5th thru 8th played in it and 9th thru 12th didn’t. I suppose there’s a chance we used consolation to determine the first alternate for promotion, but I don’t remember.

That’s going to be in the poll, though. I’m largely against having consolation matter but I don’t care that much as long as we all actually know about it coming in.

Someone said they're against the fractional scoring for kickers thing - I figured that was relatively uncontroversial and didn't see anyone mention putting it in the poll...if lots of people post here and want me to change that back to "normal" I'll do that
Someone also suggested manually lowering waiver priority for consolation teams in the playoffs - I don't think that's doable since I think the only way to actually pull that off would be to manually adjust the waiver order at the start of the week (which I don't believe Yahoo lets me do, but please correct me if anyone knows better). Sucks because I like the idea.

Also I'm gonna go ahead and say that the deadline to sign up for the leagues is one month from today, on Friday, August 12, 2022, at the end of the day EDT. At that point I'll divvy up the leagues (and ask for L1 people to double up, if necessary) and send out league invites, then we can get Whenisgoods going to theoretically draft somewhere between like 8/26 and Labor Day.

I personally enjoyed it since it felt like it made kickers *slightly* more interesting, but my opinion on it is very weak.

(Also worth noting, PATs were still just 1 point)

The only problem I have with fractional kicker is I think that kicks should always be worth at least 3. Like can we have the fractional stuff only effect kicks more than 30 yards?

Looking at the settings, I don’t think I could do this. The only options are the 10 yard ranges and the fractional scoring thing…I suppose I could combine them and, say, add 1.1 to 10-19 yard FGs so that you get at least 2.9 for a short kick, but then you’d have a discontinuity somewhere (since a 19 yarder would score more than a 20 yarder, or if you added a bonus for 20-29 then a 29 would be more than a 30).

It sounds like d3 intends to replace rhinox with me if he flakes. So we are in sort of a holding pattern. This would solve L2 as well as they'd have the 6 they need.

Nobody has clinched yet, but Pooky and I both make it with a win in any of our remaining games. Kilga gets there with two wins, any of Poker/Peg/Tali/Super get there for sure if they run the table. Nobody is technically out of it yet, not even the two 3-8 teams!

I started 0-4 in this league and in week ten I think I was a 0.4% to make ploffs and now I'm 6-6 and I'm 68% to make ploffs?

I apparently can't start hot in any league ever. All I ever do is comebacks.

I think the site is sorta messed up, since two weeks ago it had me 100% getting a first round bye and now has me at 17% to do that. 10,000 simulations is really, really low for a Monte Carlo program I think?

Superbowl, Tally, and Poker can clinch playoff berths with a win and losses by LLD and PEG

PEG and LLD can’t clinch a playoff berth or be eliminated from postseason contention this week

Racefan, Reck, Rhinox, and PJ are eliminated from postseason contention (though with the rules changes, they will be able to fight to avoid relegation in the consolation bracket)

Division winners are guaranteed playoff berths under the current settings, they just aren’t guaranteed a top three seed. Can look at that in the off-season but seems like the impact of this is very limited.

It could theoretically matter…if you and PEG both win, PEG wins the division and gets a guaranteed playoff berth. Without that guaranteed playoff berth, he could win and still finish in 8th (missing the playoffs).

Only world where you win and don’t make the playoffs is if Super outscores you by 45 (or Tally by 70, or peg by 115). Otherwise you’re fine.

Digging back this did come up in 2019, Sharon won her division at 7-7 (ultimately winning the league) and snuck in over Tally who finished 8-6 and came in third in another division.

My understanding is that PEG only clinches a playoff berth by winning the division, not necessarily a specific seed. So he’ll probably still be the 6.

Remember that reseeding during playoffs was voted on this year and the (close) consensus was to not reseed. That doesn’t preclude us from voting on it again but still. And I don’t think there is an option to reseed based on “record during playoffs” whatever you mean by that, only based on seeding going into the playoffs.

On the playoff side for L1 LLD and I advance (barring a stat correction, multiple fumbles, or Packets defense scoring 29).

On the relegation side Reck and Racefan are through, meaning Rhinox and PJ are our first two players getting relegated (in an order to be determined by their match next week).

So Yahoo has made the call to score the Bills/Bengals game as if it ended when play was suspended and then to resolve the week, pending any news of the game being replayed (which they’ve said won’t happen this week).

If any L1 or L2 final wants to call their game a draw and both players agree, we can put it down as that officially. If it ends up mattering for promotion/relegation due to users leaving the league - which should only be the case for the L1 9th place game, I think - we’ll do a dice roll for the extra promotion spot in the fall.
