1. Fundamentals

• All site-wide rules apply. Read and respect them.
  
• This is a game. Have fun, and keep the game fun for other people. This might be the most important rule.
  
• There is no personal communication regarding this game outside of this gamethread & associated PTs.
  
• Do not quote any private communication (either real or fabricated) with the moderator, backup moderator, or fellow players. Do not reference timestamps of private communication.
  
• Do not engage in the use of trust tells.
  
• Heated discussion and debate is allowed, but personal attacks are not. I reserve the right to protect my players, and all other community members. Please PM myself and the backup moderator if you feel something needs our immediate intervention.
  
• If you make a post indicating that the game is having a negative impact on your out of game relationships or well being, you will be warned or forcibly replaced, depending on severity. If you believe the game is having a negative impact on your life, send me a PM rather than posting about it in the game thread.
  
• Play to your Win Condition.

2. Phases & Activity

• Please post at least once every 48 hours. If you fail to do so, you will be prodded. If you fail to respond to said prod within 24 hours, you will be replaced.
  
• Contentless "prodges" do not count for the purpose of resetting the prod timer.
  
• At the time you would receive a third prod, or fail to respond to a prod by posting in thread within 24 hours (or by PM if at Night), you will be force replaced.
  
• Day 1 will have a 10 day deadline and all subsequent Day phases will have a 7 day deadline. Nights will last 48 hours. If necessary, extensions will be granted for the purpose of securing replacements.
  
• Votes must not be spoilered and should be in the format of VOTE: Player or
  Vote: Player
  , or they will not be counted. Abbreviating someone's name is acceptable, so long as I can discern who you were voting for without trouble. If I think it should count as a vote, it will.
  
• Unvoting is not required, but is much appreciated.
  
• The following is a list of outlawed shenanigans:
  • Using invisible text, codes, cryptography, etc.
    
  • Editing your posts (if you have the power to do so)
    
  • Quoting any PTs you may have access to

Mechanics

Sveral of the town players were spot on this game, only for them to end up getting sidetracked and on the wrong path after a while. For a minute on Day 2 I thought NK15 was going to absolutely crush this game until he second guessed his Meg read.

The whole cult mechanic makes the game very tricky because the cult leader needs to be eliminated to win, and on day 3 that meant there was only a single correct vote, which is significantly harder than your usual 4:3 ELO. Easy to say from a mod perspective, but the thing that

should

have produced more caution was that seemingly everyone was okay with Mala dying, which wouldn't make much sense for the cult as it would basically mean an automatic loss for them. Of course, the selfvote in ELO probably didn't help things.


I think as it is cult mechanics are...very swingy and makes games with them difficult. Starting at 9 players and limiting the number of recruits does make it a little easier to balance. I think there's maybe some potential in adapting cult mechanics to a smalltown type of setup but that would take a lot of brainstorming.
