GENERAL RULES:
Please follow all site rules.
Any and all Private Topics will be open at all times, unless otherwise stated.
Ydrasse and DkKoba are the game moderators for this game.
If you would like a notes PT, please PM the game moderators and we shall create one.
Please PM the game moderators if you have questions, see important errors, and the like.
Ask for a deadline extension when necessary; it may or may not be granted.
Please inform us of any V/LA via PM or through the thread in a bolded message addressed to the game moderators.
This ruleset may be edited at will when necessary.
A contentless "bah" post is allowed.
Play to win, and play to have fun!

DAY PHASE RULES:
Day phase lasts for 10 days, give or take a small margin.
There is a post limit of 200 posts per day phase.
Please format your votes as VOTE: Player or
Vote: Player
. We would highly appreciate the former. Abbreviations are acceptable, so long as the players in reference are obvious. If we think it counts as a vote, we'll count it.
Days end early when a simple majority of players (50% of living players + 1 rounded down) vote to eliminate. If a majority is not reached at deadline or if a majority of the players vote for no elimination, the day will end without an elimination.
Twilight begins when a majority is reached. It lasts until the thread is locked. Until this point, players may post in any and all game threads that they may have access to; they will have this ability until we arrive to flip them. Votes and unvotes in this phase do not count.
Please post at least once every 48 hours. If you fail to do so, you will be prodded. If you fail to respond to said prod within 24 hours, you will be replaced.
If you get three or more prods, or fail to respond to a prod by posting in thread within 24 hours (or by PM if at Night), we will begin seeking a replacement (this means the third prod functions like a notice that you are racing the search for your replacement.)

NIGHT PHASE RULES:
Night phase lasts for 48 hours, give or take a small margin. If everyone votes to do so — actions available or otherwise — via PM, fast nights may be enacted.
You may PM us to submit your night actions. If you choose to post them in a PT (such as a mafia PT), we would greatly appreciate you still PMing me regardless, though unrequired.
If you fail to submit an action, no action shall be taken. You may submit an action until deadline.
You may change your action as many times as you want until deadline.

CAPITAL OFFENSES:
Behave nicely with others. Don't get toxic, don't do personal attacks, keep it a fun time for everyone. If people ask you to tone it down, you should do so. If you don't comply, we'll ask you to tone it down. If you don't stop, you may find yourself force-replaced.
Do not speak about ongoing games. Do not speak with one another about this game save for the threads we have created for it.
Do not quote your role PM or private communication (real or fabricated) with the moderators, backup players, PTs, or anything of that sort. Paraphrasing your role PM is acceptable.
Please make all text readable.
No invisible posts, no codes, no cryptography.
Do not edit your posts if you have the ability to do so.

A lonely silhouette padded across a wide meadow, hidden away by the tall grass that brushed at her fur. The sun above shone brightly upon the she-cat’s starry fur, but it couldn’t keep away the faint, cool breeze that nipped at her paws.

“Are you here?” she called as they approached the meadow, faint form looking into the trees encircling the meadow. “Why can’t we just meet near the Warm-Rocks? It’s too cold to bother with this.”

“That’s the problem, isn’t it?” A voice called out gently from the brush. The cat that appeared was almost too dim to see – the trees behind them shone through. “Really, Tinyfrost, you ought to know better. Who taught you?”

Tinyfrost snorted. Padding over, she touched noses with the other cat. “I can barely remember. Perhaps their name was Harecloud?”

Harecloud let out an amused purr. Compared to his former apprentice, he was massive – all fluff, once brown but made translucent in his death. He sat down next to the she-cat, neatly curling his feathery tail over his paws. “I suppose it was. But that’s not what we’re here for. You and I both know that this isn’t right – it’s like leaf-fall’s come to StarClan, and the last time that happened…”

“It was a problem. But not ours, was it?” Tinyfrost sat next to her mentor, idly grooming a paw as she spoke. “We were too gone to matter then, and we’re too gone to matter now. Who in our Clan would remember us? Even medicine cats fade out one day, Harecloud.”

The tom sat silently, before shaking his head. “I know, Tinyfrost,” he murmured, “but this is – different. Have you noticed there’s less cats here, now? And who they are?”

A pause. “I know the ones. It’s like they were taken, but isn’t that cruel? They’ve done this once, why again?”

“Even now, there are mysteries beyond StarClan. But I think they’ve been given… a second chance. Even the worst of them. I suppose that they haven’t yet met their fates.”

“Dealing with everything once was enough for a lifetime. I suppose there are benefits to being so forgotten – we died when there was peace. These poor cats haven’t gotten a chance to know it.”

Harecloud murmured his assent. Standing, he stretched out, looking upward at the trees. Color tinted the very edges of the leaves – muted yellows and reds that stood out against the perpetually green canopy. “Well, someone has to keep an eye on them. Come on, we’ll go to the trees and wait for them to wake up. They all look the same, you know – like that one kit, when she came back. And StarClan knows that they know about all of it, too. They didn’t even get the decency of being happy as kits, this time.”

"Is this what they call 'getting it right?'" Tinyfrost asked. She was peering down into a pool, huddled at the edge of a great tree alongside Harecloud. "Their sense of justice? They've all got feathers for brains in this life!"

Harecloud lashed his tail once, the sole sign of his frustration. His words, in contrast, were calm. "We can't expect wisdom to have found a home within all of them so quickly, Tinyfrost. Do you criticize a kit when it doesn't know how to hunt?"

The she-cat gave him a look that said 'yes'. His silence conceded the point.

"It's a waste, if this is how it's going to be. Protecting StarClan ─ protecting

us

? I don't know how they're going to do that."

Her mentor's starry-pelt glimmered in the pale light. The sunbeams went through him, shimmering down onto the pool. The images of the Clans distorted, their night broken by StarClan's perpetual daylight. He padded over to the water's edge and reached out with one paw, as if to touch the images of the living. Stopping at the last moment, the tom sighed, turning back to Tinyfrost.

"I don't know, either," he admitted. "And I don't know what the two of us can do now, but... hope for the best. For their sakes, and ours, Tinyfrost. It's frightening, being so powerless. Being so... forgotten."

Tinyfrost appraised him, and then with a soft noise shifted so that she could sit next to him, her small frame leaning against his. "I know," she replied. Vulnerability, anxieties, fear; the smaller cat rarely allowed herself these things, but her mentor of all cats would never judge her. "So long ago, but... I tried, Harecloud. To keep your memory alive. Maybe if I had... been different..."

His ear twitched, cutting in as she faded out. "Nonsense. I'd not have wanted you any other way. Let's... let's hope now, that sleep will do them well. Maybe we'll not be needed at the end of this, and look like two fools together."

"They don't get their lives?" Tinyfrost's high voice rang out disbelievingly. "I'd understand if they didn't get all of them, but to bring them back and have them live as if they were simple warriors again...? It's blasphemy!"

"Everything about this is blasphemy, Tinyfrost. They're back among the living. The world is changing, turning colder, darker. The least we have to worry about is that they're dying faster than they should."

Tinyfrost glanced over to her mentor, noticing the way his whiskers twitched. She could sense the anxiety radiating from him, as wise as he were. In life, he took up so much space with his joy and faith. Here, though, he looked smaller than she remembered. The light shining through his form played out on the ground beneath them, marking the ground as if it had stripes, too. So old, and still so burdened.

The she-cat wasn't much one for empathy, but death had brought its own lessons, the need for patience with the living whose worries swept them far away from things such as prophecy. For the second time in recent memory, she brought herself close to her former mentor, offering what quiet support she could.

Harecloud kneaded the ground with his claws as she did, though he eventually calmed down. It was kit-like, they both knew, but neither made comment.

The silence that followed was a loud one, but neither broke it. They merely sat, the morning chill unknown and unwelcome to their spirits. Tinyfrost fluffed up her once-dark fur, sighing when the chill burrowed its way into her paws.

"We have to hope for the best again. I don't know if I can bear to watch, but some cat has to. Both of us, if nothing else. Who knows if they've made their way back yet, or if we should be watching. I think we should. Who knows what other cats have their eyes on this," she stated.

Her mentor nodded, a bemused snort leaving him. His ear flickered once, away from where Tinyfrost sat. Turning idly to look, he stared off into the distance. A great span of trees, barely-visible in the fog that contained them. They were at the edge of StarClan's territory, and they both knew what rested on the fringes.

"Several, probably, but as helpless as we are. I hope. It happened once before, their invasion, but trying again? It wouldn't work. It can't work."

The silence sitting between Tinyfrost and Harecloud was a suffocating web, wrapped thick around both cats.

Neither could bring themselves to break it, not for this death. It was a unique sort of pain, beyond the loss of the others. This one struck close to heart, and they could only watch as the twice-living gather around the body. Mangled and broken in death, it looked smaller than it really was.

So, rather than curse the Dark Forest, they watched. Nothing but watching and waiting in death, StarClan’s collapsing paradise offering less comfort than ever before.

"You know it won't do any good, wearing a hole in the ground," she commented. Her voice was unusually mild, not trying to poke at his emotions.

The tom paused, giving her a look. "A good warrior in life, and death. And then all over again, for what? A slit throat in the middle of the night for threats we see but can't stop? The same faces, but different loyalties? This is all wrong, and even as medicine cats we can't intervene. What's the point of our being here?"

"To enjoy the spoils of StarClan, and to pass on the wisdom we once had."

"And we can't do that!"

Even Tinyfrost, as acerbic as her words could be and temper high, only looked upon the body with a strange sort of pity.

It wasn't the body's fault, after all, that the soul within it was rotted to the core by some fight long, long ago.

The secrets taught to them did not speak of evils like this, of puppeting a body until death. They'd seen it before, of course, but to see fate itself play out once more unsettled them both.

Neither cat spoke of the hollowness in their words, the dead-eyed stare at the corpse. It wasn't a massacre, the life-ending wound as noble as any warrior's could be; the throat of the traitor torn out. It was the work of an unwilling murderer.

"I hope that they don't blame themselves too much," Tinyfrost muttered. "I'll make sure they find their ways to StarClan after this is all done, code or not!"

The cold swelled. Both Tinyfrost and Harecloud felt it, turned their heads to the edges of the woods where they knew the Dark Forest's endless territory began. As endless as StarClan's, though a tiny pinprick of fear in both of their hearts knew what was to come.

Neither moved from what had become a daily vigil. They watched the waters until they clouded, as if StarClan itself gave them a final mercy by the act of obfuscation.

Both swore they could hear caterwauling in the distance, so faint as to be a trick of the ears. A cry to war and battle from the bleakest hearts.

"Tinyfrost," Harecloud mewed, his voice gentle, "would it be so bad now if I were to leave you? Forgive an old cat, but I do not know if it is better to be entirely forgotten now, or to live once as as a warrior in death."

The she-cat looked at her mentor, eyes pained. "I don't want you to go, Harecloud, but... I'd understand. I know that when they invade, I'll fight. I have to fight. If I could do nothing here to help these poor cats, I have to try for the rest of StarClan."

His tail brushed over her pelt. "I always was so proud of you, even as an apprentice. When StarClan first sent the signs, I may have doubted, but you were the best medicine cat I knew. Even after I died, I saw how you cared for them. It wasn't just my presence that tempered you."

"But it was!" Tinyfrost's composure broke, and she shook. Harecloud did not falter at her side. "My bitterness would have poured out onto all of the territories if you hadn't taught me kindness. And now, what good is it for? I've saved the lives of cats whose children now must fight in the worst battle of their lives, and I can do nothing more than fight alongside them! What good is a medicine cat in death, if our wisdom now will grow tepid?"

"I suppose the mysteries of medicine cats stretch beyond StarClan. If I am to fade away, where do I fade?" the tom asked. He rose to his paws, shaking out his fluffy pelt. Light shone through, so much so that he was more light than cat. "There is still some part of me that remains, though, and until then it will be a mystery." He pressed his nose into Tinyfrost's shoulder, trying to encourage her to stand. "Come now. I may have taught you patience, but you taught me bravery in turn, Tinyfrost. We have to protect StarClan."

With a small, shuddering noise the she-cat rose. The cries in the distance rang out again, louder, bolder. Tinyfrost took one breath to bottle up her fears, and then nodded. "We do. I'm grateful that you're staying, Harecloud. I know it's..."

"I know," he replied, beginning to walk further into StarClan's territory. "I know. It's frightening, to not know what will come. But we must find a way to continue onward, for the sake of ourselves and the Clans."

And so they went, Harecloud leading his once-apprentice away from the murky pools and into the idyllic forest behind them to prepare for what was to come.

With no way to prevent a death in the night, the protectors of StarClan are helpless to the attacks of the Dark Forest. Cephrir and furtiveglance are endgamed by Freedom.

and with that, thank you very, very much for playing. an extra thanks goes to the many replacements that this game required, all of whom i appreciate for joining and allowing this game to continue onward.

this was very much a labor of love, in that warrior cats is a reflection not only of my childhood but of who i have become. from the days of writing about my favorite characters to writing my own stories now; the friends that i have made that still remain in my life today; and the community that was, quite literally, the beginning point of a timeline of events that led me to playing on mafiascum today! i hold nothing but love and warmth for warrior cats within my heart, and i sincerely hope that everyone could find at least a little bit of enjoyment from my game, though i know at times it was tough.

while that is sappy, i also enjoyed designing something like this. it wasn't entirely unique, but i hoped to reflect the series and the crazy worldbuilding within the flavor, roles and dynamics. i'm unsure if i'll design something large again, as this was a lot, but i have ideas. maybe sometime in the future, maybe sooner, who knows!

thank you again for playing, the thread will now be unlocked for postgame discussion. mafia have 48 hours to ask for any redactions within the dark forest pt, and anyone who had a notes pt may ask for it to be released. thank you!

i'm sorry you found it harsh, but not referencing timestamps is one of the most basic rules of mafia that had already been explicitly done in game, and reprimanded publicly. i don't know what other warning i am supposed to give.

i will apologize though all the same for it leaving a poor taste, but it felt as if the rules this game were stomped over at times that made me want to not mod

at all

anymore at times, and simply call the game as to not deal with it anymore. if it was heavy handed, so be it, sorry, etc.

it was information from one private topic posted into a different private topic that people did not have access to.

and again, sorry if that is heavy handed, but i feel as if it is one of the tenants of mafia to not share explicitly "technical" information such as timestamps, stuff that to argue over would not be in the spirit of mafia, unless everyone has access to that information as to make it fair. neighborhoods offer a wide range of play-making and posting, but i do not think that people should be able to post something that explicit as it becomes a weird place to argue.

Though Titus could be town, i am considering an possible world where a scum team with T3 recognized that our clan had a very weak/inactive scum and so they sent a scum!Titus who could select hoods to us so they could either be a backup or to buss and supplant T3 as the infiltrating scum in Windclan.

also, note there was a mod error this game: the mafia were able to remain in the mafia thread for the duration of the game. i accidentally added t3 to the dead thread, but mafia didn't receive compensation for it. apologies again to the mafia for that!
