can someone give me a tldr on what a pokeyman is

tldr: pokemon is short for pocket monster, and it's a franchise rooted in japan thats whole premise was collecting magical monsters. pokemon are the aforementioned magical monsters. in the game, each pokemon looks different, they have a "shiny" form (which is just for cosmetics, it just looks different), and every pokemon has a type. there are eighteen types, which are kind of just themes. so you'd probably expect a fire-type to be inspired around fire, water-types around water, etc. each type deals different damage to each other. super-effective damage deals double, not very effective deals 0.5x damage, and neutral damage deals 1x damage. because a pokemon can have two types (e.g, alolan sandslash), it can have two resistances that stack (aka types that deal not very effective damage) that now make attacks of that typing deal 0.25 damage, and it can also have two weaknesses that stack so it deals 4x damage instead of 2x.
so in the example of alolan sandslash, it's a dual ice/steel type. the fire-type is super-effective against ice. it is also super-effective against steel. so alolan sandslash has a double weakness to fire.
it also has a double resistance to ice, because ice is resistant towards ice-type attacks, and steel is resistant towards ice-type attacks.
so that's how type matchups work.
in the games, you're some random kid. basically what you do is you pick a pokemon to be your friend, and you beat the literal shit out of wild animals with your pokemon friend. then you beat the shit out of other people's pokemon friends. that's how the games work. they're great.

and it doesn't start out with all four moves ofc but it learns them
and once you forget a move you can't remember it
