Lycans and Gentlemen,

I wish I was here with better news, but unfortunately my child, Rosemary Winters, has been kidnapped by Mother Miranda. I need Agents of the highest caliber to brave the mysteries of the Village, a place overrun by nefarious monsters and dastardly villains. It is here where you will be tested. Keep your wits about you. Danger is lurking around every corner.

I am asking for you to join our search party. I am begging you to help me get my daughter back. She is so special. If Miranda realizes her full potential and exploits it, it's not just Rose that will be in trouble, but the whole world.

There are enough weapons for all Agents to start their missions, but what you do with them is up to you. Maybe you find it better to use them defensively. Maybe you prefer to use them offensively. Whatever the case, use your teammates and your wit to overcome the many trials that await you in Survivor: Village.

Survey the area. Learn about your enemies. Use their weaknesses against them. And who knows, along the way you may find strengths you didn't know you had. Keep your head and your aim up. You can do this.

Please agents, bring my baby Rose back to me.

----------

Welcome to Survivor: Village, where only the best and brightest will be able to save Baby Rose.

We are ecstatic to bring a game that has been in development awhile and share it with MafiaScum. We are hoping to bring in a big crowd and have a good time. This game is not cookie cutter, and there will be twists, the biggest of which will be apparent when you read the rules.

NOTE:
Although it is not a requirement to have played Resident Evil: Village or even understand the story, it is recommended if you wish to avoid minor and/or major spoilers as this game may include details similarly related to the story itself, to watch a youtube of the game, or maybe even play it yourself, it's fun!

As this game is ANONYMOUS, please do not mention to anyone outside of Malkon, Silverclaw, Aronis, Monty/PrivateI, Ambic or Ariel that you plan to apply as that could be gamebreaking <3

Sign ups are now open and you can apply HERE.

You have until June 23rd at 11:59pm EST to apply.

(expired on 2023-06-23 23:59:00)

Rules are below, please do give them a look before you sign up, if you would be so kind.

Spoiler:

{GENERAL RULES}

{01} This is a game. The main objective is to have fun; so no excessive flaming or spamming.

{02} This is a game. The secondary objective is to win.

{03} If you think we made a moderating mistake, please point it out privately and we will fix it if needed.

{04} We have worked extensively to produce a game that is enjoyable for all of you. As such, we promise to offer each Agent respect but expect to be shown the same in return.

{05} Survivor: Village is ANONYMOUS. All Agents are strictly prohibited from so much as hinting to their own identities or implying another Agent's identity. If you are talking with other people outside of this forum, you must not state or imply that you are playing in this game (unless you put them on your do-not-cast-with list). If you are talking with other Agents on this forum, try not to say anything that would allow people to easily ID you. Communication outside the private message system is also forbidden unless otherwise stated. Failure to follow this rule can result in a variety of consequences ranging from a terse warning to one's elimination from the game. We reserve the right to determine the severity of possible infractions.

{06} Exercise common sense. If you're not sure if an action violates the rules, ask. Yes, this is a competition, but do not attempt to undermine challenges or game mechanics for your own gain. This violates both the spirit of the game and common respect mentioned above.

{07} Private communication with Agents outside of your Tribe or eliminated Agents is strictly prohibited unless otherwise specified. Any Agent found in violation of this rule will be penalized.

{08} Any and all posting about this game outside the provided forums unless SPECIFICALLY STATED is illegal.

{09a} The posting of Private Messages (whether via text (paraphrasing is fine) or via image) in a public forum or in Private Messages to other Agents is explicitly disallowed. You may, however, post them in your confessional. You are also prohibited from taking a screenshot of private messages and showing them to other Agents. Forwarding is not allowed. Quoting is not allowed, nor is pretending to quote. You may paraphrase, and you may quote very short snippets of up to 10 words, like you might in a real conversation. A series of such snippets is not an acceptable way to circumvent this rule.

{09b} Don't show other Agents screenshots of anything in your confessional, any challenge scores, or any game information they do not already have access to. The one exception to this is that showing the image files of any items or powers you possess or are pretending to possess is allowed -- but still don't take a screenshot of your confessional to do this as that would be verifiable.

{10} The Commanding Officers may discipline any Agent that breaks the rules however we see fit, depending on the specific situation. The punishment for breaking the rules depends on the infraction. We also reserve the right to implement new rules if needed.

{11} Although this game takes place on an off-site forum, that forum is considered an exclave of Mafiascum.net. All MS conduct rules will apply.

{GAME MECHANICS}

{12} PMs (Private Messages) are only to be used for communication within your Tribe unless otherwise specified.

Immunity Challenges

{13} Every round will possess an Immunity Challenge. Winners of the Immunity Challenge will be safe from elimination that round and cannot be voted out at a Council of Four Houses. Note that giving away the Immunity Necklace is allowed, but only for the first 12 hours of a Council of Four Houses, and once passed it cannot be passed again. If this happens, the deadline will be reset to 24 hours.

{14} The outcomes of all Challenges are final, except in case of incorrect tallying by the Commanding Officers.

{15} We appreciate the fact that prospective contestants will enter this game with a range of skills. With this in mind, understand that we as Commanding Officers can't cater to all Agents' needs and time constraints in challenges.

{16} Unless explicitly stated, DO NOT use outside resources for challenges.

Council of Four Houses

{17} A Council of Four Houses is where Agents are typically eliminated. Before the merge, only the losing Tribe or Tribes will visit a Council of Four Houses, and will vote one Agent off. After the merge, all remaining Agents will go to a Council of Four Houses, including immunity challenge winners.

{18} A Council of Four Houses will last 24 hours from the end of the challenge unless the mods specify otherwise. If an Agent fails to submit a vote within the given time frame, they will receive a self-vote. In the event that an Agent knows they will be unable to vote by deadline, that Agent may notify the Commanding Officers and cast a conditional vote to avoid penalization.

{19} The results of a Council of Four Houses will not be posted before the deadline, except during revotes after a tie. In that case, results may go up early if all votes are in.

{20} The modification of votes after they have been submitted is allowed. Agents are able to change their votes as many times as they want until the deadline expires. Please make a new post instead of modifying your existing vote, as otherwise we may miss it.

{21} If an Agent has failed to vote three times, the Commanding Officers may choose to eliminate that player at their discretion.

{22} The outcomes of a Council of Four Houses are final, except in case of incorrect tallying by the mods.

Breaking Ties

{23a} In the event of an initial tie, a revote shall take place. Agents may only vote for one of the tied Agents, and all tied Agents may not vote. Reward items may not be used in this revote unless they specifically say otherwise, but any reward items that have already been played WILL remain in play.

{23b} If a majority is not formed in the revote, all tied Agents and immune Agents become instantly immune and the remaining Agents will draw rocks for elimination. Note that this applies even if, say, a three-way tie becomes a two-way tie. In a Final 4 Council of Four Houses, rocks will not be drawn, and tied Agents will participate in a tiebreaker challenge.

Powers

{24} There may be items and powers in this game which can give Agents advantages in the game. The use of all powers should be posted in your Discard Thread, but we will accept other means of communication as well. One type of item is the Hidden Immunity Idol, which is a special item guaranteed to exist in the game. The rules for how these advantages work will come with them.

{25} Hidden Immunity Idols can be played at a Council of Four Houses to nullify all votes against a given Agent. You may give them to another Agent at any time. You may also play them on other Agents without their consent, as well as on yourself.

{26} Conditional idol and power plays are allowed, to simulate the way it works on the show. You can play idols or powers in response to the playing of other idols or powers (not in response to votes). For example, you could write, "play my idol on myself if an idol is played on Mia or a power takes my vote away." Note that some powers may not be possible to respond to, such as an extra vote that is not announced before the reading of the votes.

{27} The Commanding Officers will not answer hypothetical questions about any item or power which is not guaranteed to exist from your point of view. That is, we will answer questions about an item or power if you have ever possessed it, or if its existence is public information (as in the case of the Idol).

{28} You may transfer items to other Agents unless they specifically indicate otherwise. Ordinarily, you may transfer items only to Agents in your Tribe. However, you may transfer an item to an Agent not in your Tribe by posting in bold in a challenge thread while the challenge is ongoing, "I transfer an item to (Agent)." In essence, it's like you're blatantly walking up to them during the challenge and doing something suspicious where everyone can see you. You are allowed to do this and then not actually transfer an item, but it allows you to transfer an item to that Agent at any time until the challenge ends.

{Unusual Rules Specific to Survivor: Village}

Guns

{29} In Survivor: Village, each Agent begins the game with a standard handgun. These items act like a single vote nullifier in normal Survivor, with one major exception (see 31).

{30} Guns can be played at a Council of Four Houses by saying in your confessional that you wish to play your gun and specifying who you wish to play it on. All guns played will be revealed at the deadline along with the votes. Any gun that is played will be used up, but you can change your mind on whether you want to play it or not at any time up until the deadline.

{31} After the guns have been played at the Council of Four Houses, the Agent who has the most guns played on them will have one vote cast against them negated. If this is tied between two Agents, both Agents will have a singular vote cast against them negated. But if more than two Agents are tied, no votes will be nullified. All guns played are used up regardless of whether they had any effect.

{32} All unused guns will expire at final 6.

Twists and Other things

{33a} There are other twists planned that are not associated with the above. When those twists are ready to be revealed, those will be added as addendums to this section, starting with "{33b}" As to not reveal anything, no one will have advance notice of these rule changes. Planned rule changes have been vetted by our reviewer in advance. If there are additional rules to existing twists or mechanics, those will be added as addendums to those sections.

{ACCOMMODATIONS}

{34} If you need an extension at any point in the game please inform a Commanding Officer and we will do our best to accommodate you, no questions asked. Please inform us at the earliest possible time, but please don't abuse this rule. If the request comes in less than 2 hours before results (whether challenge or a Council of Four Houses) we may not be able to accommodate this. Likewise, if you know you're going to be away from the game for longer than 24 hours please inform us so we can plan ahead.

{35} If for whatever reason you cannot do a challenge please inform the Commanding Officers and we will attempt to find a suitable alternative or stand in if we can accommodate. We ask that you contact the Commanding Officers directly so that we can plan accordingly.

Lady Dimitrescu is barely impressed with all of you filthy man things. She doesn't see much of a challenge in anyone and is prepared to tear you to shreds.

Let's prove her wrong by signing up for Survivor: Village!

Deadline is tonight at 11:59pm EST TODAY!!!

In addition, the game itself will start July 1st.

Finally, Silverclaw has joined the moderation team due to extenuating circumstances and we are very grateful to have him aboard.

I hope to see a few more of you apply! We are VERY close to filling the minimum.

It's been almost 2 months, but we are now in the process of determining a winner for
Survivor: Village
. A record 28 contestants entered, and only 3 remain. Which will get the opportunity to take down Mother Miranda and claim the title of
Sole Survivor?

Image

Will it be Billie Wesker?

Image

Maybe it will be Sheva Alomar?

Image

Could it be Excella Gionne?

Find out on August 27th at 6:30 PM Eastern, live in the MS Discord! If you want to watch it go down live, feel free to contact the mods.

Hello Agents,

Mialkon here. Just here to report how pleased I am that you all worked together to help me rescue Baby Rose! A job well done by all.

I truly am so grateful that everyone who played this game and spectated made it possible. I came up with this design a couple years ago and it became very personal to me. Unfortunately, it sat dormant for a year and in this time 5 of my other projects I'd been planning for MS died. I was very very disheartened because I put a piece of myself into the games I design, however none more so than this one. This game honestly was so special to me but I debated giving up on it as I just thought it was another dead project.

However, just when I was about to give up on it, Cephrir approached me to ask how things were going with my projects. I explained what was going on and that I was pretty upset about everything, but then he gave me the idea to cut my losses and focus on just one thing. Once I had this and I asked myself "what do I actually care about", I realized the answer was simple. There was only one game left that I actually cared about enough to want to continue.

And this was it.

I've already spent time commenting on the design portion of this game and how intimately connected I am to it, so I won't go over that again. You can read this here: https://survivorvillage.freeforums.net/ ... 893/design

What instead I want to do is focus on everyone who made this game possible.

I have to start with Cephrir who basically gave me hope when I had none. Thank you Ceph, you are essentially the reason I didn't give up on this game. Thank you friend.

Secondly I want to give a shout out to everyone who helped me in planning and executing this game.

My original co-hosts were Aronis and Sirius9121. Aronis was so so integral to helping me talk out advantages for this game, helping solidify my design choices, and created quite a few unique challenges for this. So much of Aronis was present and left in this game that even after he vanished as we were entering the final planning stages, I left him on as a co-host in name because this truly would not have happened without his support when I re-explored finishing this game. I don't know where you are Aronis and please reach out to me if you see this, but thank you my friend. You were there when I needed you to be for this game and you meant so much to its success.

Sirius9121 was present in the initial stages, but unfortunately as life took me other directions and I dropped the ball initially on this, by the time I was ready to revisit it, Sirius had left the site (so far as I know). Although you didn't have a huge impact on the game, you did help design at least one of the challenges and one of the advantages, so thank you for being initially interested and voicing thoughts early on.

MontyWhittaker has been the Listmod from start to finish. You kept checking in even during the period this game was dormant and you were someone I could bounce ideas off of in terms of what it was I needed to be successful in this game. When complications arose during the game, you helped give us confidence we were handling them correctly and additionally you took on behind the scenes things that I'm grateful you did. Thank you Monty you were so helpful and I very much appreciated your input. You also acted as a second reviewer and helped me to flesh out some of the things that could really have been problems at game start. Thank you for the invaluable advice.

As the game progressed, two other hosts came onto the project as I needed them. First was Ambic, and during the sign up process, Silverclaw (+ the rest of the Den) joined second. Ambic where do I start? You breathed new life into this game. From the advantages, to the challenges, to the avatars, and your general enthusiasm. You were such a delight the moment you send me a DM stating your interest. I'm so happy you joined this project because just as I was feeling like maybe I was going to get overwhelmed, you helped get me to the finish line. If there was something I needed, you hopped right in. If there was something that needed to be fixed, you fixed it. Your integration of unique challenges, using autocorrects to run challenges, and revamping the google docs to work for us in ways I've never seen before were all so crucial in the efficiency of this game. Truly you are the brain and the effort of this game. Thank you so much. I'm beyond thrilled to have worked with you. Thank you for putting up with me at my crankiest and at my best. You were such a trooper. I hope you can now go focus on your new family and that everything goes smoothly there <3

To the Den, you were so incredible. If Ambic was the brains, you were the heart of this team. You truly brought such a breath of professionalism and enthusiasm for the game and it's players. I don't know why the thought ever crossed my mind that I could run this game by myself. I truly could not have, and you shouldered a lot of the burden of handling questions and dealing with day to day tasks that I was otherwise unable to get to myself. it truly meant the world to me that you dove right into this and helped me to make it the success it was.

And finally, no good game is without a fearless reviewer. Ariel, to you I extend my heartfelt gratitude. I knew there was no way you were going to play this and I had a very tight turnaround for a reviewer and you met this challenge with amazing speed and incredible insight. You really helped me remove some of the excess fat and helped me hone in on the ideas we had. When I was overwhelmed, your words and thoughts helped craft my ideas into viable mechanics that worked soundly and solidly for this game. I owe much of the success of the overall flow to your review.

No game can be successful without a dedicated spectator base, and a number of you truly stepped up to the plate to be thoughtful and active throughout. Thank you to everyone who spectated this game because your support meant people were invested in this game, and there would be good discussion post game for the players to view in retrospect. Congrats to Mother Miranda for winning the Fantasy Draft, to Dr Salvador for winning the Eliminator Draft, to myself (teehee) for winning the mod Fantasy Draft, and to Ethan Winters for winning Spectator/Pre-Jury Survivor. It was truly a fun spec lounge with people who were invested from start to finish. Appreciate you all.

Thank you to everyone who helped test challenges. This includes kdowns, petapan, tris, haschel, vash, ndmath, Het and MURDERCAT for your services throughout. If I've missed anyone at any point, please forgive me there's a lot I wanted to say in this post. I also want to give a special thank you to haschel who also served as a proxy for a challenge when someone's power went out and participation was crucial to the results of the challenge. Thank you my friend, you continue to be a large presence in my life :)

The final set of thank you and congratulations go to the players.

To the pre-jury, so many of you went on to be active spectators and were enthusiastic the entire time. I appreciate all of you. I know how much it sucks not to make merge of a game, so the fact that so many of you were active even beyond your demise means so much to me.

To the jury, you were such a thoughtful bunch. There probably aren't many groups of people I would say that MS should allow to discuss an ongoing FTC as to not "influence each other" into voting a certain way, but you all handled this so well and truly did explore so many angles of the finalists before forming your own independent thoughts. Shout out to the experienced jurors who helped sort of show the inexperienced jurors the ropes and truly did help foster a very positive environment so everyone could learn and start seeing things from different perspectives. This was a unique game and I hope it inspires future games with a well-rounded group of people <3

To Sheva, I actually think you played a pretty incredible game. I am super partial to messy villains though and you hilariously kept me going from start to finish. From the Lottie rug, to poggy wog wog, to your incredible grenade launcher block of Angela at final 9, you had a game that I hope you are super proud of. I know it's a little discouraging to go through so much time at FTC thinking people have written you off and I think it got to you. I hope though that you can take some confidence from this knowing you have what it takes to not only succeed in games, but win them! I thought from merge on that you had the highest odds of getting to the end and winning, and you were probably very close to proving me right.

To Billie, you EARNED that 2nd place. My god I thought you had next to no shot walking into FTC, but you went in guns blazing with one of the best FTC performances we've had in recent history. It was gold from start to finish and you did so much to change minds and make people open to how you played the game in a way that did give you merits to being the winner. You were the ONLY person all game to never be voted out, and you were arguably on the right side of most votes this game. I think with another move or two on your resume you would have 100% won this game, but you did so well with what cards you were dealt and your case was so strong. I absolutely loved your speeches and the dedication you had to this game. Also kudos for finding an idol that no one else even found the clue for. You have so much you should be proud of this game.

To Excella, my god I still am reeling from the fact that this was your first game. You played like an absolute god damn pro. You sure you haven't somehow been playing these games subconsciously? Your intuition and instinct is second to none. You played with such openness and such candor which translated so well at FTC and really told a story of someone who learned, adapted, and grew. You played a game so many people could only dream of, and you defended that game very well. There are people who have yet to do half the things you did this game and you did it with class and grace. You are the epitome of an incredible winner and you should be so so proud. Also I am taking notes for how to organize a confessional for future reference. It was honestly pretty amazing what you did from start to finish and how much insight I was able to glean about the happenings of the game from yours specifically. Truly a spectacular performance from beginning to end.

I have further elaborated how I feel about everyone who played in the spectator Torchwalks. I highly recommend giving them a read if you want to see how I feel about you individually.

Last but not least, thank you everyone for taking a chance on this game. It was better than I expected and it reminded me why I love hosting. I'm my own worst enemy and my own worst critic and there was so much that could have gone wrong this game and very little did. I'm so pleased with the experience and pleased with the result. Truly was an epic game from start to finish. So many good tribals, so many good strategic and social plays, and so many OMG?! moments. This was a game jam packed with some of the best in players and in moves. And I owe it all to you who helped me bring it to life.

Thank you everyone. I do not plan to host another long term LSG after this, I can't think of a better way to bookend my hosting time on MS. I might host a short term/marathon esque game or two when the mood strikes.

I am infamous though for un-retiring...so who knows...maybe some day I'll have an itch I need scratched...but for the foreseeable future I think it's best to refocus my energies on other areas of my life.

Appreciate you all being part of my journey. Here's to the future and for me getting to be part of your journeys going forward <3

Hi, good game all. I gave my eulogy on the forum but basically this game helped me get a monkey off my back I've been carrying for 8 years and I'm grateful for everyone who helped make that possible.

In post 17, Malkon05 wrote:To the Den, you were so incredible.
Thank you for having us, Malkon. We truly enjoyed getting a chance to leave a lasting impact on your last hurrah, and putting our all into something like this was only natural with the amount of excitement brought around by the people in the game, as well as those around it.

A very quick thank you for using our system name to thank us all, as that means a lot more to us than I believe you know.

Maybe this game cured Shrek’s gingivitis, but you know what it didn’t cure? Our collective desire for rocks.

It’s time to change that by signing up for ROCKSvivor 2: viewtopic.php?t=91486
