Honestly I got nothing out of the first post but I've been vacant from the mafia scene for a long while now so it is possible I missed some meta for them. I did not see any flags from it at all.

How do we win without our shot and with mafia parity?

I've been trying to find an answer the whole night phase.

The shot being gone at parity means we lose at parity as with any other game. I thought it was nightless, I somehow thought we had no scum kill. This changes things to a no win.

We should have NoElimmed D1 or had the person at E-1 vig to become an IC.

If they didn't vig then they get hammered as scum since scum cannot vig.

The only way the game is still up is if we retain our vig at this point because them we can still hit scum.

I think this would work okay nightless with no scum kill or if we retained our vig at parity.

I wouldn't mind making edits to this as suggested, I think it works then. But yes, it is broken right now. Mislim on D1 and that is a scum win every time. Either make it 7p, lose the factional kill, or retain the vig at parity. Those are the fixes that would debug this.

Technically, no wincons have been fulfilled yet but assuming scum don't mess up, it will technically be over.

If scum don't vote each other they win, which means they either win or are playing against their wincon which is against the rules. Therefore they have already won.

Which I get. But maybe the vig should be deactivated by the death of the flagholder regardless. Make them an enabler role. Then it is up to scum to prevent this my sacrificing them to save the goon.
It adds a cool mechanic to the mix and some dramatic decisions to be made for scum, whether to sacrifice to get rid of the enabler or leave the vig possibility alive. I'd say it still is a 1-shot that is shared, it just created a different way for scum to deactivate it.

i guess the setup never took into account the idea that there would be a dayvig that doesn't get used day one

which tbf probably wouldn't happen in a regular paced game

when you have only a few minutes to think about it though, things get overlooked

But a proper setup does consider this possibility. If it is broken so easily then it was never proper to begin with. That's part of game creation and balancing and is integral to creating a game.

If it were considered, there are plenty of fixes that could be offered. I mean, we just workshopped a bunch of them! The setup is easily salvageable with a tweak or two, and can become pretty nuanced very quickly.

also note the dayvig is as good as having your role card revealed and that somehow was overlooked

Are you guys up for another game? I would like to run a variation where town has exactly one Dayvig and it never gets disabled unless mafia achieves 1v1 parity.
