HOW DOES THIS WORK?
- This is based on the Battle Factory from Pokémon Emerald's Battle Frontier, and will operate similarly (particularly with the rental mechanic).
- Battles will take place on Pokémon Showdown using the SV OU Singles format. Match-up winners will be decided by one game.
- When it is time for your first battle of your run, you will select three Pokémon (with predetermined moves, stats, items, etc.) for your team, from a randomized group of six Pokémon.
- Each time you win a battle, I will share the loser's sets, and you have the option to trade one of your Pokémon for one of theirs (but you don't have to).
- When you lose, your run is over, but you may sign up for another run immediately (with a new set of random Pokémon to choose from).
- There will always be one Champion, and every new entrant will challenge the Champion.
- If the Champion is defeated, the person that defeated them becomes the new Champion (the first Champion will be the winner of the match between the first two entrants).
- Game replays will be shared publicly, but teams are not public. This means that after the first game, at least two out of three of the Champion's Pokémon will be known (swaps will notbe publicized), and challengers will have an informational advantage.
- I will be tracking win streaks, and there will be a leader-board of the longest win streaks.
TEAM SELECTION
- I will randomly select six Pokémon from the Pokémon with OU sets listed in Smogon's SV Strategy Pokédex. Please note that this includes "Other Pokémon with Strategies," not just OU Pokémon. When the 10th generation games come out, I'll try and figure out what the best way to go about updating this is (if this is still around).
- For each Pokémon randomly selected, one of their listed sets in the Strategy Pokédex will be randomly selected.
- If a set lists multiple options for moves/EVs/etc, the option picked will also be randomized.
- Once the randomization process has been completed, I will come up with silly nicknames and send you a PokéPaste containing the pool of six Pokémon.
- You should then inform me of your three selections, and import those three Pokémon into a new team using the Pokémon Showdown teambuilder (I can assist with this if you need it).
ACTIVITY EXPECTATIONS
- Failure to play a match in an appropriate amount of time (we'll figure out what this length is together, but there will be warning prods so no one is caught off-guard) will result in a streak ending disqualification, but it will not be counted as a win towards the advancing player's win streak.
- Champions may step down without ending their win streak (keeping their team), but must wait in the Challenger queue to face the current Champion when they reenter.
- If a challenger is unable to play when their turn comes around, but they want to keep their spot in the queue, they can let me know and I can move on to the next challenger(s) until they're ready.
OTHER RULES
- Do not alter sets. You may edit nicknames.
- No collusion, no coaching during games.
- Play to win to the best of your abilities.
- I'll be lenient if someone forgets, but I'm asking that replays are saved and posted in this thread. If a replay isn't saved/posted, I will share the three sets used by the winner in that game, which would provide a bit more information than a replay.
