C9++ question

C9++ is a semi-open setup that's generated with a described algorithm. There is, however, a minor ambiguity with how it's described on the wiki.

https://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=C9%2B%2B
Powerroles are inserted into the setup depending on how many of each letter are generated. For example, when looking at the "C" list, look at how many Cs you received. If you get no Cs, do not add any roles from the C list (exception: "T" list has a set of roles to be added if 0 Ts are generated). If you get three Cs, look at where it says CCC and add the corresponding powerroles into the game. In this case, add a Cop and a 1-Shot Cop.
The maximum number of the same letter you can generate is 7. But only the "T" list describes what to do when you get 7 of them. All of the others stop at 4, 5 or 6.
C = 1-Shot Cop

CC = Cop

CCC = Cop, 1-Shot Cop

CCCC = 2 Cops

CCCCC = 2 Cops, 1-Shot Cop

CCCCCC = 3 Cops
What would you do as a mod if you were in a situation like this? Would you default to the largest set that's included in the list? Continue the obvious pattern up to 7? Or reroll the setup entirely?
You can call me "Willow".

The chance to roll 7 C's is roughly 0.00017% (that means you'd roll it once every 500,000 games, rounded down due to laziness). If you are concerned about dealing with that, well, I think you should be more concerned with how to spend your lottery winnings :p

That being said, I'd probably just continue the pattern.

Note: you are actually more likely to roll 7 C's than win the lottery, the above is a joke.

Given that Blocker goes up to 4, Mason/Vig/Doc goes up to 5, and Cop goes up to 6 we'd argue you shouldn't go past the cap (Though whether the remaining letters that go past the cap should be left as is, converted into T's, or reroll the setup is up for debate)

If we were doing it we'd announce pregame that any undefined setup like this would just get rerolled before it even comes up and just reroll until we got a defined setup

B has 0.000031% chance to roll 5 times. I think the reason this wasn't continued to higher number of letters is simply the designer didn't care enough to deal with something that will happen less than once in 100,000 times. Because the setup isn't going to be run over 200-300 times in MafiaScum's lifespan.

I think python's point though about how it is different for different letters suggests it is intentional and could be for balancing purposes.

Ok, I did the math.

Game with...# in 12800000001 in ##%
7 "C"s21875852770.00017
6 "D"s80641587300.00063
7 "D"s128100000000.00001
6 "V"s80641587300.00063
7 "V"s128100000000.00001
6 "M"s80641587300.00063
7 "M"s128100000000.00001
5 "B"s75811688430.00059
6 "B"s13396240600.00001
7 "B"s112800000000.00000
Total34478371250.00269

So the chances of getting any of the undescribed games is about 1 in 37125, or 0.0027%.

Yeah, I'd rather hunt for shiny Pokémon.
