I think you're attributing some of your own preconceptions of how to play, if that's what you think. I don't think you would be so antagonistic as scum but not everyone plays like you. I noticed you thinking earlier about it being worse for scum to act out aggressively, but that's totally the opposite of how I think. I've played with people whose behavior I don't like and excuse their behavior much more readily when they're scum. Think LLD in Star Trek, I'd have been a good bit less inclined to avoid her afterwards had she been scum.

I sometimes make the mistake of assuming what people's characters are like and I use that perception to determine to what extreme they would go as scum. But I don't really know people so it's not a very good strat. It's almost instinctive though. It's a bias I have to check
