also i’m still confused about my redirect ability @sircakez

kinda seems it’s rand! where i could use it effectively. making it very hard to time a good redirect

Same confusion for the role block, really. I was rather surprised to see a roleblocker in this game given the nature of the calls and actions tied to them. Would it block calls if submitted before the call itself was? Or just call effects? Meaning we'd get to make a fourth call after all if the timing worked out where a call went through but not its effect?

Just wanted to say I'm really impressed that this game did not have any replacments. As someone who hoped to be able to replace in at one point.

yea i can see the confusion actually . i think its the same with any ability that has an effect on calls. if calls are not all done at the same time; then it just renders the ability to be effective based on randomness; it limits the role ability drastically and makes it hard to use such ability effectively if you don't know if someone had already made a call or not

Moment of Brilliance
2024/08/31 Jingle Taly/Firebagel/Fireisredsir Scream First of all, this game was probably townsided by mechanics due to some faulty assumptions about town paranoia getting in the way of good PR usage. But then a bird came in and shat all over the scumteam's plans. D1 was pretty standard fare of a powerwagon on a townie for a bad response to pressure, but town did not misstep again. Taly ran back to back to back eliminations on Pooky, Skygazer, and Immortal Technique, accurately locktowning a bunch of suspected slots at the same time. Bagel as cop cleared STD to powertown, Fireisred, who turned out to be our vig, and me while communicating the chain of clears with a plan started on N1. Not only did she plan this out, she was able to pivot away from investigating Cephrir/TenebrousLuminary into investigating me based on accurately judging that fire was going to shoot ceph by dayplay and without any form of hidden communication, helpfully derailing any future attempts to make me a lim target through paranoia. And fireisred took the shot to kill scum's best positioned member, meaning when GPa woke up D5 he had to contend with like 6 conftown and a protective role in a game state of confirmed 11v1. Town played a hell of a game here, but without those three scum would have had a chance due to the combined skill level of that stacked as hell scumteam. Those three just kind of wrecked the game, and did so in a way that was pretty much all masterclass skill, not taking advantage of minor game design mistakes.


Mad Scientist
2024/08/31 Jingle SirCakez Scream I can't in good conscience say this game was a Rube Goldberg level one, because there were some design issues. Town had a bit too much power. The framer ability was a little obvious as a fake guilty. Flavor breaking was probably reasonably likely given a lack of fakeclaims for all but one scum. But Mad Scientist? Hell Yeah. Cakez put together a game where mid-night resolutions not only made sense, but worked. He put himself in a position where he'd have to ferry up to 63 private messages per night phase (anyone who has run a PT or message heavy game knows how rough that is) and then PULLED IT OFF. He made roles that felt like they made sense with the call mechanic, and yet didn't beat you over the head. He instilled just enough paranoia that town could definitely choose to shoot themselves in the foot in the fear of accepting the wrong call, and then enough scum power punishing accepting the wrong call to make that fear entirely reasonable.
