While not particularly novel, another analogy that finds a lot of use for me is how in the card game Hearts, after someone plays a heart everyone is then allowed to play hearts. Surely there's a lot of different ways one can analogize a situation like that, but that's the one that comes to my mind most easily.

Of course the idea of "shooting the moon" is also ripe for analogy but I don't go as often to that well.
