Multirole too.
Those aren't open setups... :)

Chosen: Each player gets several possible role PMs at the start of the game, and chooses one of them. It's a lot of fun, but requires coming up with 3-4 times as many role PMs as you will actually use, and it's probably impossible to balance well.

Multirole: As above, but you don't pick a PM; you get
all
of them at the same time. Basically the same as everyone having a ridiculously complicated role. Also a lot of fun, also requires a lot of role PMs, and also impossible to balance.

Lyncher (7+ players):
1 Lyncher
1 Jester
1 Serial Killer
X Townies

Day start, no shared wins. The Lyncher's target is one of the Townies. If the target dies at night, the Lyncher becomes a Townie.

Timebombs! (8 players)
2 mafia
6 town

Nightless. Any player may post
Timebomb: Name
in the thread once during the game. The bomb explodes and kills the target one real-time week later. Mafia win if they have equal numbers to the town, even if some townies still have bombs.

Has anyone suggested a smalltown setup yet? How about this...

1 Cop (gets innocent on SK)
1 Watcher
1 Vigilante
1 Jailkeeper
1 Faith Healer (50% doc)
1 Martyr (doc who dies if he stops a kill)
1 Suicide Bomber (day ability; kills the suicide bomber and another player)
1 Copycat/Mimic (duplicates any other player's night action to a target of the copycat's choice; can duplicate mafia kills)
1 Double Voter
1 Bulletproof (2 uses, doesn't stop SK)
1 Vanilla
1 Super Backup (gets the role of the first player to die)

3 mafia, 1 SK, 8 town. Day start.

A couple of setups inspired by both Vengeful and Assassins in the Palace. The first is a mountainous setup with a handicap for the mafia, while the second is interesting because
both
teams are distinctly lacking in information (although the scum still have more than the town).

Godfather 12

9 Townies
2 Mafiosos
1 Godfather

Town wins if the godfather is lynched. Mafia wins if they outnumber the town. All the mafia know who each other are, and can talk at night.

Rebels in the Palace

8 Rebels
3 Guards
1 King

The rebels have broken into the palace to overthrow the corrupt and evil king. Unfortunately for them, the king and his guards have disguised themselves as rebels! The guards only know who the king is, and the king doesn't know who anyone is. The rebels win if the king is lynched, while the king and guards win when they equal or outnumber the rebels. No night kills.

Scum are told who has what roles at the beginning of the game. Roles are not revealed on death, only alignment.

I'm not sure what the best combination of roles for this is, but since the whole point of the game is the idea of letting scum choose roles rather than players to die, the town should be extremely strong.
The town would mass claim on day 1. The scum would lose shortly thereafter.

I guarantee that no matter what the scum claim, there's some way of arranging all the night actions to smoke them out quickly.

Norinel wrote:The Day 1 massclaim makes it essentially Smalltown though, right? If there were some reason for the town to not massclaim D1, the town would probably need less power than they get in a Smalltown setup.
Nope - the mass claim lets you work out the distribution of the scum (for example: one claimed doc, one vig, one townie). That immediately clears at least 2 players. Plus, the remaining players have much more power than you find in a smalltown setup.

The cop will be overpowered, since he can share all of his results with each player he finds innocent. I don't think the presence of the godfather is enough to shut down that strategy.

Start with the person who wasn't targeted by a jailkeeper/roleblocker and work down the chain. It's easy.

For example: Jailkeeper A targets jailkeeper B. Jailkeeper B targets C. A wasn't targeted, so he jails B, who is now blocked and immune to kills. Since B was blocked, nothing happens to C.

Lyncher 7

1 Lyncher
1 Serial Killer
5 Townies

Lyncher's target is one of the townies, only the lyncher knows who. If the target is nightkilled the lyncher becomes town. If the last two players are the lyncher and his target, town wins.
