The last time I played minecraft was around 2015 (holy shit that's 9 years ago), what's a good way to learn about all the new features and have an enjoyable survival mode experience if I wanted to get back into it? Also are there any good guides on what to actually do in survival mode to progress?

Honestly, I would just jump in and try your hand at it. If you want to learn more about some *thing* you saw, you can either ask one of us or search through the MC wiki (not the fandom one) to find more info. The best thing about most of the content updates is that they mostly didn't add anything to change the basic progression of the game.

The standard or unmodded way to play the game! We would love to get the

cross-platform, all-inclusive, Bedrock-enabled

"vanilla" server back up and running ASAP, but I need help from players who own Minecraft on PlayStation, XBox, or Nintendo Switch, who would like to play on the server sometime and would be happy to help assist a bit with the set up process. Let me know if this is you, either in-thread or via Private Message (a.k.a. "PM" - you can just click the link to the left by my picture, if you're new to the forum).

We're hoping to keep the Vanilla Server up-to-date with the most recent version of PaperMC, which is Minecraft server "backend" software that adds useful commands like "/home," "/warp," "/spawn," and many more, up for change and debate as players need. All of this info is to help players become acquainted with what could be their first log in to a Minecraft server - believe it or not, still possible in 2025!

Modded Server(s?) Update

The "modded" (as in, "with mods") way to play the game! We have a somewhat-humble modded server up and running as we speak. All you need to do to log in is download a third-party Minecraft launcher that can access Curseforge modpacks, but I recommend and can provide some limited support for PrismLauncher, the most easy-to-use and feature-full launcher I've ever personally used.

Once you have your launcher and your Minecraft game itself installed ( see post 0 and click "Past Server Files/Info" if you need some basic instructions for installing the game), you need to log into your Microsoft / Minecraft account in PrismLauncher, go to "Add Instance," look on the left for the "Curseforge" tab, and search for "

AllTheMods 10

" - that's the modpack we currently use. It should be able to run with a few GB of RAM on a decently-capable laptop computer!

Finally, server donation info will be coming soon. I'd love to set up systems (starting with this post, the Discord pins, etc.) that help the server continue even if myself and everybody else currently here drops off the face of the earth. In other words, REDOWNLOAD ya nerds - maybe we'll swap from AllTheMods 10 to a custom modpack, in the future? I'm eyeing something that could be more beautiful-building-or-harder-core-survival-focused, since there's as many options for resource acquisition and logistics as there are "magic" or "tech" mods.
