I'm fine with skipping too if you prefer, I think 2 successful guesses is like the "expected" average per turn so we most likely aren't losing too much momentum by skipping and can re-adjust our current reads next round based on the blue clue.

That said, I think for the same reason that limming every day in mafia is good, choosing a thing that is definitely not assassin is better than skipping as it reduces our PoE even if we miss.

and there's a certain meta around "unlimited" clies

plus, a larger pool of words to filter from hurts the other spymaster

the game theory isn't the same as mafia, imo

It's definitely not the same. I'm fine with passing, as I said. But there are merits to guessing which include lowering the PoE of words related to our clue. I personally think that guessing OLIVE and hitting neutral helps us more than it helps the enemy team.
