What is Music League?
Music League facilitates anonymous submissions and voting on songs without a mod and utilises an integration with Spotify. It is kind of a cross between Song Contest and Walrus: everyone gets to send in music and everyone gets to vote, and there are multiple themed rounds per game.
How to Join:

- It will prompt you to either sign up or log in with Spotify. (Each Music League account is tied to one Spotify account)
- Post /in in this thread or otherwise make sure we know it's you who joined
Basic Format:
- First, join the league to participate.
- Rounds: Each round has a theme for the type of songs it should include. (e.g. Round 6 isI'm Thinking Of The End of Things: Songs for the end of the world, universe, etc.)
- Submit Song(s) Phase: 72-hour phase where players who have joined the league can submit their song pick by either searching for the song name in the search bar or pasting a link from Spotify to a particular track. This phase is extra long at the very start of the game.
- Voting Phase: 1-week phase where the song submissions are revealed and you must spread all of your upvotes among other players' submissions.
- At the end of Voting Phase, everyone will be able to see the results, including who submitted what, how everyone voted, and all the comments. The next Round also begins. This Debut League will last 6 rounds.
Guidelines/Etiquette
- While the player whose submissions receive the most votes over the course of the game will be declared the winner, the primary goal is to share music you like with other people and hopefully be introduced to some new music.
- If you choose to participate, please take the time to listen to and vote on the songs in the Voting Phase. (You can skip out on any number of rounds if you think you won't have time or don't like a theme.)
- You're recommended not to reveal which song submission was yours until the round is over.
- Please be considerate, including when leaving comments on other people's submissions.

Q: What do I do if I want my ML name/photo to be different from my Spotify account's? Or if I want to get email reminders through ML to vote/submit songs?
A: In the top-right corner of the Music League site is a button with 3 lines. Click that, view your profile, and then edit your profile. Note that you have to actually input an email address into your ML profile to get any notifications.
Q: Why are there songs in the Spotify-generated playlist that I can't vote for?
A: Music League automatically generates a Spotify playlist at the start of the Voting Phase that can be used by players. The Spotify Mobile app may insert additional songs in the playlist for listeners with a free (non-premium) Spotify account. These inserted songs will not appear in the list of songs that you can vote for in Music League. You can only vote for songs submitted by other players.
Q: In Spotify, how do I exclude the playlist from my taste profile?
A: On Desktop, right-click the name of the playlist and choose Exclude from your taste profile.
Q: When I'm submitting a song, what is the deal with the "Share some thoughts" text box and the checkbox option to "Show comment to others when they're voting"?
A: This is a way that you can leave a comment with a song. You might use it to explain why the song fits the theme or to share a bit of information e.g. where you know the song from. If you have the checkbox ticked, it reveals the comment during the Voting Phase without revealing your name. If you do not have the checkbox ticked, it will not show your comment until after the round is over. So, people would only see it when they're looking through the round's results.
Q: What happens if someone enters a song but doesn't vote?
A: To discourage entering a song but not voting, they will not earn any actual points from the upvotes other people gave them.
Q: What is the maximum amount of votes you can give to one song?
A: The league admin can update this, but for the debut league it's currently set to 5. Downvotes are also turned off for the debut league but are a possible option.
