on the other hand jigsong was won by a team that to my knowledge contained no LSG regulars who invented a novel strategy to do it much faster given the team structure that to my knowledge hasnt been used before on a jigsong so that was actually super super cool.

I finally got a chance to watch the closing ceremony, and omigod, this is incredible. Thanks so much to the mods for all your hard work, patience, and creativity. I think the teams + no-elimination mechanics really worked out well.

Can you remind me of where this came from? (Someone needs to make a list of all the references in that video that may have flown over my head, because the ones I caught were hilarious.)

In post 24, Thestatusquo wrote: There were certainly games that LSG folks had advantages in just because of their familiarity and how often they have encountered them before in LSGs, jigsong certainly comes to mind.

I don't think hivemind was one of them though, I think we won that one or at least did very well and we didn't have any special strats for it.
Excuse me, please don't take our one and only challenge victory this entire event away from us!

But yes, I can confirm that the winning strategy didn't involve any meta strategies beyond roughly averaging out all four of our initial gut instinct answers and using common sense (unless you count stuff like "the mafiascum userbase probably has a higher-than-average proportion of people who'd want to vacation in Japan and have played Final Fantasy games").

I went back and checked after I said that and saw we came second and you came first and then deliberately chose not to correct myself.

I was thinking more, "here are all the little in-jokes we crammed into this video," since I'm sure there are references I got that others didn't, but it's probably not feasible anyway.

FU, you wish you could be as middle-of-the-pack as we are. (We'll take your first-place trophy off your hands if it helps.)

Well so the song playing is my teams song that beat yours for the taskmaster challenge, in case that was one of the neat little references you missed.

This one wasn't in public but during the crusswurding round, mist thought it'd be funny to tell us mods repeatedly (like 5 times) that they were boycotting the challenge. Mist was also the one assigned to do the jigsaw for that round so we had a pleasant little worry session in the mod discord wondering if mist was actually boycotting or just messing with us. Mist did do the challenge, eventually.

I made that part of the video well in advance of knowing what the final order was going to be so I decided early on I was going to just grab a random ordering from a previous round that had the Puppy Palooza in the front, with a backup Choir And Capstone ordering on deck if I needed to swap it out.

huge congratulations to winners!! y'all did some incredible work.

also thank you so much to the blues for running this. the whole event was a treat. i really appreciate the efforts put into making sure it was as fair, consistent & accessible as possible. said as someone doing a fair few of these from a phone, while away from home and living on the moon.

I think the general sparsity of hiccups in an event this long is really impressive. So kudos to the mods. I'm still quite impressed with e.g. the success of simply managing to schedule the Azul games, just that in isolation of everything else is a significant feat.
