but no matter how many times I tried, I always saw my style as imperfect, scummy in different ways. Meaning that I would've failed that hypo-game, regardless of alignment.

This is a fallacy. I always read ABR as scummy but he's a damn good mafia player. I haven't played with you, but based on your writing style in this thread, I think your problem is verbal diarrhea. It takes you way too many words to say what needs to be said.
