Pledge of Allegiance (24/24 Taking Replacements)

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Sat Apr 24, 2010 5:37 am

Pledge of Allegiance

This is a collaborative effort by Vi, SpyreX and Zoraster

There have been lots of games designed that have given players control over the role they receive. But there have been, to our knowledge, no games that have given players the decision over the
side
they want to be on.

This game does just that. After sign-ups are full, everyone will have the opportunity to choose whether they want to take a Pledge of Allegiance for the Town, Mafia, or Other side. And they'll be placed on that side!

After this, the three mods involved will design a set-up completely determined by
your
selections. Every attempt will be made to make things balanced and interesting. The process of collecting people's choices and making a setup will take a bit, so do not expect the game to start immediately when the roster is filled.
Expect about a week turn around time from when choices are made.
Not even the mechanics will be decided on until the game goes up as to give us the best ability to design a setup that may not be traditionally "balanced" in terms of numbers.

Disclaimer:
In order to achieve balance, there may be bastard modding elements used.

Requirements to join the roster

1. You must have completed at least two games.
2. You must not have ongoing problems with the mods or players involved that would derail the game from what it is designed to be: fun.
3. Hydras and Alt Accounts that don't otherwise meet the first criteria may not join.
4. If you have not completed enough games, you may sign up to replace in, but those with two completed games will receive priority.

Roster:
  1. farside22
  2. DrippingGoofball
  3. UncertainKitten
  4. Zorblag
  5. Shotty to the Body
  6. xvart
  7. Jack
  8. VP Baltar
  9. Ellibereth
  10. Nicodemus
  11. charter
  12. d3x
  13. popsofctown
  14. Cobalt
  15. LLamaFluff
  16. imaginality
  17. fishythefish
  18. ojanen
  19. phate
  20. Gammagooey
  21. Jazzmyn
  22. RedCoyote
  23. Debonair Danny DiPietro
  24. Parama

Replacement List
  • Sotty7
  • Albert B. Rampage
  • StrangerCoug
  • Plum
  • Twomz
  • Chronopie
  • Lowell
For those interested, I'll (Zoraster) be the lead mod and will handle the day-to-day operations of the game.

that puts us at full, but I had a couple of pre-ins tell me they might not be able to play if it starts quickly, so I could definitely use a couple of replacements -- it's likely you'd be able to pick your side and everything.

Sorry, but I cross-replaced into a large theme, and I don't think I can handle more than one large at a time.

Expect about a week turn around time from when choices are made.
(Bold in original)
From your choice PM wrote:Finally, just to let you know about our time line: We’re expecting it to take a few days to gather all the selections, and then it’ll probably take up to a week to get the setup, mechanics, etc. hammered out. So at a best guess, the game will probably start around May 4th, though we hope to run ahead of schedule.
We're still waiting on a few selections. May 4th still sounds like a pretty good date.

Remember that we have to design a setup here. We don't have one prepared for every one of the 12144 combinations that could conceivably come up, so you'll have to wait while we devise a setup. We have ideas, but I think waiting a week is worth the payoff of not having a shoddily constructed setup, especially when it's possible the numbers will be significantly skewed from what is normal.

Question: What if >50% of the players select mafia from the get-go? What would happen then?

A setup unlike anything you've played before, probably.~

Lol, just one dayvig?

Also, I think I'd be willing to replace into this, i'll probably be reading along if I have enough spare time after finals ;).
