Open 240: Mayhem Clinic- Everyone died.

It was a cold night in Mayhem. The kind of night where the air is still and you can feel the eeriness in the air. The soundless streets are disturbed only occasionally by the wind. No one can sleep. A gunshot rings out in the dead of the night, and all the town lights up. No one dares to venture outside though. There is no courage in the face of darkness. The night takes forever to end.

The sun rises like a demon from hell as the town ventures into the daylight. Everyone gathers around the central monument. An obsidian pike that symbolized power is red with blood. The rising sun creeps up the spire until it reveals an impaled body on the top of the monument. The bloodied body of Mayor Tranquil is found. The town of Mayhem goes into a berserk fury. Everyone takes up arms. Everyone shouts accusations. The balanced town of Mayhem has descended into chaos. The void of power at the top is a vacuum sucking all those in into a blood frenzied conflict for domination.

The town gathered around the statue, arguing among themselves. The man blaming god was surrounded for his delusions.

"Are you trying to run away from your problems? This isn't a matter of gods or devils, this is an issue of men."
"Or could it be that you are trying to hide away while we argue amongst ourselves?"

They pressured the man. They asked him what he though of those among them, and he seemed confused. Pushed up against the statue they threatened him with death.
"What do you want from me? I know only how to fight! I'll take down the evil in this town with my own hands!"

The man began punching. A left hook to the chin knocked Nikanor out cold. The man continued to kick and flail at those around him. "You think you can bring me down!?"

But the rest of the town overpowered him. They pinned him to the ground. Robocop reached into the man's pocket and found a gun. He fired three rounds into XScorpion's exposed chest.

"You, you killed him?"
"I don't know."
XScorpion bled out in all directions onto the concrete.
"Yep."

Everyone roamed the streets of Mayhem that night. They were furious at the chaos, and all of them felt responsible for the death of an innocent earlier. Roaming the streets, some looking to fight, some looking to kill, some looking to protect.

Knives clashing and gunshots rang out in the night sky.

When the sun finally rose it was like a spotlight from hell, revealing the evil in the world.

Gandalf stumbled backwards on a roof-top. The sunrise showed him the face of his attacker.
"Heh, after all this, it was you."
He let himself drop off the ledge.

Tanstalas seemed to have put up much less of a fight. He was found dead in the alley behind the pub. He seemed to have died while drunk and unconscious of what was going on around him. The lucky fool.

Nikanor woke up from being knocked out the previous day. The sun was shining and his head was throbbing.

"Oh fuck, only nine of us left? What the hell happened? Ok... everyone claim what you are capable of."

Everyone claimed that they were trying to protect people at night. Except one who claimed to have a gun.
"You fools keep trying to get them during the day while they were masks, I'll get them at night when they show their true colors."
The one who shot Scorpion also claimed differently,
"I can protect people. But I didn't. The hells the point? There's nobody worth protecting in this god damn town. The more the dead, the better chance that we'll root out the evil."

As the day went on, the group surrounded a particularly odd fellow. He had on a hat with a windmill on it, and was playing in a the fountain of a broken hydrant.

"The fuck are you doing?"

"Water fun!!! Weeeeeeeeee"

"This useless fool needs to die, he's probably pretending to be this way. No one can be that useless..."

"You guiz upset!? S'ok, it'll get bet-"

Nikanor turned the hydrant to full blast. Shattered was slammed against a brick wall. Yes, he did shatter. But they didn't find any guns near his remains.

"...or maybe they can."

Mayhem was a terrible place at night. Shots were constantly ringing out. Windows were being shattered. Lives were being taken.

Some fought valiantly to protect others.
Some fought valiantly to kill evil.

...and a few continued their plans to wreak havoc on the once peaceful town.

Nikanor trudged through the main street, clutching his bleeding stomach.
"Finally, death. Sweet sweet peace. Heh, at least god won't be able to use my life for his own personal kicks anymore."

He was smiling as he collapsed.

smashbro's body flew through a window and crashed into a dumpster in a nearby alley. He went down fighting and his hands were almost unrecognizable from the punishment he took.

The day begun quickly. With so many innocent dead, the last of the town of Mayhem had gone into a frenzy.

The two innocents tried vainly to see through the deception of those around them. People were dying at night that should have been protected. People were claiming to be lone killers, and everyone was confused.

"How about him over there! He was supposed to be protecting Nikanor!"

The group converged on a silent man, sitting with his back against the monument. A smile shone through the shadows on his face.

"Hehehehheheh. I can protect all right. But I would NEVER PROTECT THE LIKES OF YOU FOOLS! THIS TOWN IS OURS!" He pulled a gun out of his jacket, but Scott had sprinted up to him. He kicked Wings' gun and it fired upwards. Scott then wrenched it out of his hands and shot Wings three times.

He looked back at the group, they were all smiling.
"Which of your smiles are real? Only one of you is with me."

Finally evil had been slain. But that did not stop the killings.

"Scott's a killer, drmy's a killer, nopoint's a killer, they're all killers to me."
"They all have guns! I can't trust anyone!"
"But there's no one worth protecting right?"
"That's what I thought! And that's what I'm sticking too! YOU'RE ALL OUT TO GET ME"

Robocop rocked back and forth in his room talking to himself. There was a loud knock at the door.

"NO. NOOOOOOOOOOO. I WON"T LET YOU KILL ANYONE ELSE. I"LL PROTECT EVERYBODY"

He jumped out his fifth story window.

He was full of holes before he hit the ground.

Drmyshotty slumped against a wall, clutching his chest.
"Hehheheh. I'm a serial killer all right. A lone wolf baby. I don't need anyone."
The grip on his gun weakened and it clattered on the pavement.
"...anyone..." he closed his eyes to rest. Forever.

The last three stood in the center square. The crimson spire shone in the morning sun.

It was a beautiful day.
It was a tense moment.

Nopoint drew his gun and with his other hand threw a knife at Sawyer. Sawyer's gun was deflected and hit nothing. Nopoint turned and pointed his gun at Scott. Scott fired twice and nopoint dropped.

Scott spun to shoot at Sawyer, but he had ducked behind the monument. Sawyer began shooting at Scott from behind the monument. A bullet flew right through Scott's right leg as he was running for the edge of the square. His body twisted as he hit the pavement and his momentum carried him behind a street lamp. He emptied his clip in Sawyer's direction but all he did was chip the spire.

Both were out of bullets.

"Heh, its been fun. See ya next time around..." nopoint had crawled toward the spire for his final resting place.

Sawyer picked up his gun and started walking toward Scott.
"Well well well, looks like the good guys don't always win."

Sitting with his back to Sawyer against the street lamp, Scott clutched his leg. "Work this one last time for me buddy. Justice is counting on me. Everything I've ever known or loved is counting on me."

Sawyer stopped a few paces before the lamp.
"I want you to see this, get up."

He walked over to Scott and pressed the barrel against the back of his head.
"Get. Up."

Scott's left hand shot up and grabbed Sawyer's arm. He pulled himself in one motion and plunged a knife into Sawyer's heart. Sawyer's eyes went wide and time slowed down as he fired a shot and looked at the knife penetrating his chest.

Nopoint had slid Scott his knife.
"I don't like to see anybody win. Let's all go together, hehahaha...."

Scott walked toward the monument. "Nopointinbeingalive anymore... Everything's finished."

Only the cruel spire remained.

Thoughts: I'm inclined to think the XScorp lynch didn't hurt town that much, even though Robo's hammer was so anti-town. It basically confirmed Scott early on, and allowed him to make it to endgame.

I think the Shattered Lynch was the reason town lost, even when Sawyer and Drmy were being incredibly anti-town as well.

Also the outcome of the game was changed when I extended the night deadline N2, which made scum both block Scott's kill on drmy AND kill Nikanor. With the original deadline, they had neither actions submitted. I think the extension was the right move as most normals have 72 hour nights anyway, and I didn't want this game to be swung in either party's favor due to activity requirements (aka town winning just because scum didn't send in a kill, instead of winning on their own merit.)

As for the flavor at the end of D3 which basically "confirmed" Scott as town, I would've apologized and ended the game due to mod error if any of the scum PM'd me actually wanting to counter claim Scott at some point in time (tantoumant to suicide, but whatever).

I was rooting for nopoint, who had Nikanor convinced early on that he was town. Ah well. The game ended fittingly for a game with four potential night kills flying around, everyone died.

I have no idea why drmy bussed Wings like that when a nopoint lynch looked plausible. Also, Nikanor did not submit a protection either N2. I was pretty frustrated that half the game hadn't submitted actions, and extended the deadline at the 48 hour mark when I noticed the thread still said D2 and I thought maybe that was the reason.
