I only played a couple games online.. way back when the game first came out.. 2010 was way too busy with games. So far 2011 seems rather bland until November anyhow when UC3 and Skyrim come out.

Upload some replays for us to look at. In my experience in asking people advice it's hard for them to give you advice that'll actually work for you unless they can see the whole picture. It's improved my game quite a bit (even if I haven't had the time to play to prove that).

If it worked for JDodge - what are the chances I could upload a couple of my 1v1 replays and get critiqued? Is anyone willing to help poor ol' Quag?

I know I'm still terrible, but I might be getting close to 'flatlining' without some help by the good players.

I'm not exactly "good" myself, but I'll totally take a look too. If we all help each other get better, we can eventually all become pros and make a Mafiascum Pro team.

In order, not really, playing a bunch of custom games against mid level ai with each and just building shit, zerg is good at macro but weak in small numbers, terran are all ranged, pretty hefty but certain comps can be immobile and they don't get as beefy as maxed out toss, protoss have super long and distinct tech trees, but ball up enough high tech toss troops and you can break p. much anything (except terran entrenched positions).

The campaign is fun, but really won't help you in the long run. If anything, hit up the challenges off to the side of the single player menu. They will be much, much more helpful than the campaign. They will also help you with the other two questions for that matter.

That and what Shanba said, basically. AI games are a good way to start practicing a build order and figuring out hotkeys and stuff.

Oh yeah no reason not to do the campaign, it is pretty good fun, just don't expect it to help you with multiplayer.

Quag, from the game we played (which I watched the replay later). here are my hints.

Right now, you need to "automate" the things that can be easily automated: for instance, you can rally your nexus to the mineral line, so that when you produce a probe, it goes directly to mining without you needing to look at it. You can also hotkey multiple buildings (like gateways) to the same number to produce from all of them at the same time (I know that for protoss this gets obsolete with warp tech, but I'm sure it works for other buildings like robo. There are probably other things, but this is what I remember the most, and I believe in the "one improvement at a time" routine.

It has been a while since I saw that replay, but I will take another look at it and comment more. If you want to post other replays, I would certainly watch them too. If other people want to see this replay, it is in the BSL thread.
