This. People are supposed to voice their opinions on titles here, and I've voiced mine:
The fact that dana has run one mini game based on superheroes and has one ongoing game based on superheroes and has plans to do a third in the future, based on superheroes, does not warrant a title. The current site meta for titles is exactly what Oman quoted Shea: "Yup, that is definitely X!" When people look at me, drunken/sex posting is what they think of. Anyone who's played with Ythan knows his obnoxious playstyle. Even people who have
played
in dana's games are gonna be a little bit like… "Huh?" when they look at that title. It's not a good title, and it's not a good reason to give someone a title.
Oh, and for the record, you can go fuck yourself, too. Don't launch into an attack on my personal life just because you're butthurt I'm not on board with the whole LOL DANA LIEKS SUPARHEROZ HE SHUD GET A TIETUL gangbang.
MoI wrote:If that’s the standard than titles need to pretty much be done away with. Because, deep history or no, the vast majority of titles here mean VERY little to anyone but the player themselves, and perhaps their personal circle of internet-friends. Does anyone who never sets foot in General Discussion care one bit about Reck’s title or why he has it. No. That doesn’t mean it isn’t something Reck should have. Titles can’t be all things to all people.
That's why it's a GD-related title. I mean, for fuck's sake, my title essentially references a site-wide meme that got so overspread and out of control it lead to Shea posting a thread in GD telling people "Reck's gay, we get it, can we not harp on it anymore?" The fat of the matter is, MOST people get the reference. The ONLY people who would get dana's title are the ones who have played in his games before, and guess what? I've played in one of his games, and I still think it's a stupid title/reason to give him a title.
dana wrote:Hahaha. Love the discussion on a title for me. Just for the sake of information, in about two or three months, I will have run 4 superhero-themed games, with a total of around 50 different players, I would guess. The total number of players will be around 80, but there'll be a lot of overlap. So I would certainly not be opposed to such a title. And btw, xRECK, until I did some investigation about two weeks ago, I had no clue what YOUR title meant.
Then how about we wait until there's enough of a mass recognition for your apparent superhero hard-on to give you a title instead of trying to ram this down everyone's throats before your second game is even completed?
shaft.ed wrote:I think this fits his GD persona well and the PM exchange with Ythan was hilarious. The title makes me laugh and thus I think it's a good match. Could be altered to astoot to be more "acceptable"
This is actually a decent title. The wordplay has two meanings, it generally references his behavior in GD, the word itself sounds funny, and the whole Ythan/RC exchange was hysterical.

That should cover the super hero angle I know him for and references the fact that he gets called a girl a lot because of the name dana.
(
Secret Mistaken Identity
works too.)
The name is better, but the reason for a title is still forced and stupid.
