Based on this game. Our role was Tyrion Lannister, who is nicknamed the Imp in the books the game was based on. Macavity played a good scum game and deceived the town with some excellent lying and fakeclaiming. Would be a good memorial for a good performance.

Many titles are based on a single game. Additionally, the title is a nod to his ability to play scum well, which he has proven in other games. I'm not sure what makes this nom "kinda silly" in your book.Parama wrote:Titles based on single games are kinda silly unless they're absolutely hilarious titles or especially noteworthy ones.YOUR AD HERE

It's ok....I think if you know the joke it makes sense, but for the random person seeing it they will probably think I have slipped into some weird parallel universe of posting titles that they can't reach. Hunter of Scum is ok too, but worries me for the same reasons.Nicodemus wrote:VP, how do you feel aboutScum Hunter?
I'm sure there is some more obscure HST reference to make, but then people really won't get it. I don't know, if I think of something I would definitely post it here, but it's kind of hard for me to assess how the community as a whole perceives me or my presence here...if that makes any kind of sense.YOUR AD HERE

Nominate Zachrulez forFlaming Viking
Zachrulez is a huge Minnesota Vikings fan and can have a fiery temperament at times in games when he's playing aggressive town. Plus he's been on site for quite awhile and deserves a title.YOUR AD HERE

The first portion is related to his posting style on MS and the second portion is related to his love the Minnesota Vikings, which if you have spoken to him is obvious. Avatar relation is very mild and unnecessary.Ythan wrote:That title would make zero sense without the avatar.
@CES - Generally the thought process for finding someone a title is like this: "oh haaaaaaaay, this person doesn't have a title and I feel they are a part of the community that deserves a title. I wonder what title would FIT him/her. Hmm, I shall think of one. Ok, that might work. Post."
So, yeah, it's still a dumb point unless you believe in metaphysical title creation.YOUR AD HERE

Wouldn't want you to get dragged into the "completely retarded" argument you began, but I again ask you what you know about Zach's personality to justify saying it doesn't fit. I stated why it does suit who he is and what his presence here on MS is, and your refutation is based on what you believe is proper titling policy rather than being related to the actual forum user in question.YOUR AD HERE

My general feeling is that it's good to discuss the validity of a title in relation to the user. The point of a title is to sum up the user's presence on these boards, correct? Therefore, titles should be discussed in relation to this. However, in this instance and in several past instances this has not been the case. People come and they say "Herpa Derp rules about avatars" or whatever, which is a null point to the overall intention of a title first of all and second is most certainly not an equitably enforced rule. A title should point to something unique about the user and be a badge of acceptance into the community, be it related to an avatar or not. That's the ultimate goal. This was my point to Ythan, but he doesn't address it because he is incapable of doing so. He, like CES, is repeating the same tired rules that the GD/Scumchat frequenters cite ad nauseum without actually thinking about the title at all. Or turning to insults in a feeble attempt to prop up the nonsense he's pushing and save face and ego, but whatever. Perhaps Flaming Viking isn't the perfect title, but the point of this thread is to discuss titles and come up with something worthwhile, not to waggle your finger at people having the audacity to try and include others in the elite world of MS titling. So if you don't like a title, that's cool. Try to come up with something better and stop fooling yourself into believing there is some magic rulebook of standards that is strictly enforced on site, because there isn't.YOUR AD HERE

I'm not being tongue in cheek at all.
But in seriousness, someone coming to the title thread and saying 'I've been here 6 months, title me now!' should not be given a title as a matter of policy. I'm pretty sure Oman would agree with me on this, even though we tend to disagree on his titling policy at times.YOUR AD HERE

It is so boring to hear this 'titles all have a deep meaning' argument again and again. No they don't in many, many cases. Titles either work for a user's persona or they don't, and that's what judgement of their quality should be based upon. This BS about holding up the integrity of titles is such tired rhetoric.xRECKONERx wrote:Look at the people on this site who have titles. They're not just handed out like candy, usually. Hey, look, I'm modding an entire SERIES of games on Lost, maybe we should make me a title to reference Lost! /sarcasm
You, Vi, have a title because your mafia play is well-known.
Shea has a title because he's known for being a grump.
I have a title due to drunken posting antics.
Flay has a title for being so heavily involved in coding/site management stuff.
All of these things are what people are generally well-known for...it's what gives their title character. Nobody, except for the handful of people who have actually PLAYED in DKU's superhero games (and I'm one of them, for the record) would know/get/appreciate his title.
Kise has an entire series of games based on Square-Enix, where's his title?
Dramonic has an entire group of games based off of obscure/not amazingly popular JRPGs, where's his title?
I could pull out a thousand more examples, but you get it.YOUR AD HERE

That's not what I said at all actually. What I said is in accordance with what you are quoting from Shea. My problem is that the new titling policy seems to dogmatically criticize titles out of the gate without discussing their actual merits whatsoever. This tired shit about titles can't spring from a single event (or an avatar or modded games or whatever) is idiotic because there is no precedent for titles NOT being given that way. Titles can spring from these singular events and be acceptable IF THEY FIT THE USER'S FORUM PERSONA. So, to say dana's title is bad because it's based on some games he modded is a shitty argument and signs of a terrible titling policy being enforced. A much better approach would be to say, 'I don't think that title quite fits dana because I see dana as XYZ and not just the guy who only mods super hero games.' or something of that accord. Placing arbitrary rules that the title must represent a player's presence in X number of threads, or whatever subjective criteria is being pushed this week, makes absolutely no sense as a titling policy.Oman wrote:And people have said to me that they don't want titles being handed out like candy (VPB obviously believe otherwise).
Further, I find dismissals like Reck's completely arbitrary because it is seems like made no effort whatsoever to even look at the games MoI posted to see if they were representative of dana's persona. Nor did you I'm assume. Maybe more effort should be put into actually thinking about the titles instead of finding bad reasons to laze about. Just my two-pence.YOUR AD HERE

Nominate Sotty 7 forMrs. Hogan
In Newbie 1029, one of the scum team members had this to say about her and Zorblag:
Which is both funny and true. Plus everyone knows she married her husband because of pro wrestling. Also, I don't know if you realize it but Troll and Sotty are two of the strongest players on MS, I mean they are like Hulk Hogans -- a casual glance by both of them almost completely cracked this game for town.YOUR AD HERE

Actually, it's a reference to the overall quality of her play, which carries a heavy rep on the site. But let's have this argument again.
For the record, I don't think the title is perfect, but I think the reference is humorous and applicable. I'm sure something better can be worked out.YOUR AD HERE

I think the Hulk thing kind of works too in the sense that Sotty is pretty old school here, having been around since 2005. Shrug. I'm trying to think of something better than Mrs. Hogan and I'm drawing a blank at the moment. I'm not sold on any of the other suggestions yet.YOUR AD HERE
