The MafiaScum Minecraft Thread - AllTheMods 9!!! - NEW Vanilla?

Minecraft
is a sandbox video game released by Mojang in 2011 and purchased by Microsoft in 2014.
It is the single best-selling video game of all time
, selling over 180 million copies across all platforms by late 2019, with over 112 million monthly active players.

In Minecraft, players explore an intentionally blocky, pixelated, procedurally-generated 3D world, and may discover and extract raw materials, craft tools, build structures or earthworks, and, depending on game mode, can fight computer-controlled foes, as well as either cooperate with or compete against other players in the same world. These modes include a
survival mode
, in which
players must acquire resources to build the world and maintain health
, and a
creative mode
, where
players have unlimited resources
. In the
Java Edition
,
players can modify the game with mods to create new gameplay mechanics
, items, textures and assets.

Minecraft has been critically acclaimed, winning numerous awards, and has been described as one of the most influential and greatest video games of all time. Social media, parodies, adaptations, merchandise, and the annual
MineCon conventions
played large roles in popularizing the game. It has also been used in educational environments, especially in the realm of computing systems, as virtual computers and hardware devices have been built in it. A number of spin-off games have also been developed, such as
Minecraft: Story Mode
,
Minecraft Earth
, and
Minecraft Dungeons
.

Server rules:

  • NO griefing, NO stealing, NO PvP without consent.
  • Respect your fellow players and the server.
    *See below!

  • Try not to build ugly stuff where people will see it.
* This can be broken down in a bunch of ways.
Generally, in this community we support the following:
  • Respect each others' space for mining and building.
(Ask! Don't just intrude on somebody's building project/mining operation/automated farm, etc.)
  • Respect communal spaces like a Nether Hub or Spawntown, if they exist.
(Ask before "improving" communal builds, and please fix things if you break them!)
  • Try to reasonably limit looting/destroying generated structures.
(Ask if anybody needs extras you've found; no need to hoard. This matters a bit more in Modded than in Vanilla.)
  • Respect the other players and their choices.
(Ask before just killing the Ender Dragon! This matters a bit more in Vanilla than in Modded.)
  • Respect the server's hardware.
(This one is tricky, but discuss with an admin if an issue comes up.)

Spoiler: Past Server Files/Info
MOST RECENT VANILLA INFORMATION:
This is the Minecraft server currently running the most-updated version possible of the original game client and server. Cutting-edge, and just as Notch and Jeb intended. We update with the newest Release version available for both client and server from the Mojang developers blog, so please check the thread for notifications and announcements.

To connect to the Vanilla server, download the "New" Minecraft Launcher.
This link is for Windows. This link is for Macintosh. This link is for Linux and everything else.

Once you have the Launcher, double check that your version (in the bottom right hand corner) matches the server version.

Here's some handy advice from Mojang on how to use snapshots, if you haven't before...
On their site, Mojang wrote:To get snapshots, open your launcher and press the “New Profile” button. Call it “snapshots” and check the box saying “Enable experimental development snapshots” and save. To switch to the normal version, you can select it in the dropdown at the bottom left corner of the launcher.
...or (if ours is the only server you care about having the version for, or you just don't want a new profile or something) just go to "Profile Editor" in the launcher, double-click on your active profile (which might be the only one there) and select "-----" from the dropdown menu under the "Version Selection" section.

MOST RECENT MODDED INFORMATION:
This server runs a custom modpack that adds many fun and interesting features to the base game. You are likely to find things like machines that can double output, auto-smelt, store, auto-craft or place/break blocks, large-scale auto-mining tools, MAGIC, jetpacks, airships, AND TONS MORE!

The best way to find help getting started is to visit us on the IRC channel (#mafiacraft) at http://webchat.esper.net .

Took me forever to explore the Town enough to find the Cobblestone Factory...
There should be better directions here! Haha

Also, a P.S. Maestro Manor is being built to the left of the Spawn House and through the fence, on the cliff. Visitors welcome but DON'T DIG UP GRASS. In some places it is only one-layer thick because of some serious terraforming I did yesterday and today all by my lonesome.

Love the server guys! Great work!

Maestro wrote:Maestro Manor is being built on the large unoccupied cliff to the left of the Spawn House. The current network of guardhouses and walls is Cobble, while I expect to build the inner Manor House out of Birch/Jungle Wood. Through the Nether Hub/izak's house, I've finally gotten to a sustainable Jungle Biome that I'm going to farm the living hell out of so it should work rather well. Don't worry - if I find anybody is using things in there, I'll leave their trees alone (like the one with the giant-ass ship on it) and replant all the time. I've got Bone Meal too, so I'll be replanting Giant Jungle Trees whenever space provides. I've also found another Jungle biome across the ocean by boat, which took awhile to get to, so I might make a Portal down form there and then connect it back to the hub so others can use it. I hear Jungles are rather rare...

Also, I think I said this in the thread, but I think the Blaze Farm and the Cobble Factory are ingenius. As is izak's house - that place is a work of art. I also really liked UT/IUT's plantation, and your floating island is pretty damn cool as well. The aesthetic things I liked were the simple but epic EnderDragon Memorial, the Lava Creeper in the cliff-face below spawn, and whoever's wooden house it is that looks out on the beach in front/to the left of your island dock. Whoever it was had a realistic bathroom using a glass walk-in shower, a cauldron for a sink, and a couple well placed blocks of iron + a trapdoor as a toilet. That was just one of the many things that amazed me about that one.

All the community farms and helpful signs really make this one of the most welcoming servers I've ever been in. You guys got somethin' really good going in there, but it seems kindof...empty without actual people there.

Sent this to Om of the Nom and he suggested I share it with you all. :D
I mean every word. Also, if Rhinox is around, may he not smite me dead for using one his chests for storage while I build...I left him a little sign to let ihm know there was nothing in it beforehand...sooo...yeah. Anything else I can do to help around this place? Any clean-up that needs doing? Haha Maybe I can manage the spawn house. I'll work on replenishing the Newbie Kits and adding some basic supplies to the house, as well as a second floor and a fireplace - all after I'm done with my Manor.

OH MY GOD HOW COULD I FORGET!

fishy's Biosphere Temple is one of the other coolest things on here. Love it - my favorites were the Nether Room and the Jungle room - both spot on miniatures. I'm building one of those automated Lava walkways too...

And a short story: we were pranking izak by leaving him a luxurious gift in his Production wing, and I got some lag so I logged off in the center of his sphere near the Monster Grinder. When I reconnected, I spawned INSIDE the dark cave up top...because Om had placed a block or two right where I'd logged off. I don't know how (maybe the players are hardier than the Monsters) but I ended up surviving the fall and we laughed enough I thought I'd share it with you all.

Melons. Melons save lives, folks.
Peace out.

Hey guys! I've come to ask for some random person's help. I'd really like to get somebody's help checking the port-forwarding on my new Minecraft server. It's completely setup - some minimal Bukkit plugins as well - but I've only played over LAN with my brother so far. Any number of people can help out, feel free to come to the server whenever it's on (which might not be that often, unfortunately). It'll be up for the next couple hours though while I test and build, so shoot me a PM if you wanna get on the whitelist. Thanks!

@izak: Sorry I missed the games but I've been busy this week registering for classes and such and I've never done intense PvP before. Definitely put me down for the next round though, sometime next week, next month, next year...whenever.

Can I just say that your posts in this thread make me smile everytime?

Haha sure you can say it. Doesn't make much sense to me though.

Just remmebered I had some volunteers for the servertest...if any of the 3 volunteers are online now, I should have your UN's on the whitelist. If you could try logging into my server that'd be much appreciated.

Alright, so a little while back I posted asking for help to check that my new Bukkit server was working correctly...Xalxe and izak each graciously spent a good chunk of their time today putting up with my flailing whilst trying to get this to work, and I think I finally have. If anybody woud like to help me test it out at this point, the current IP is

72.81.181.159:25565

I have it set to a user maximum of 10, but I doubt you'll all be flooding it so that shouldn't be an issue. I've also removed the whitelist so if you get an error regarding that let me know. I will be updating this IP so if it works (which we'll find out) and people actually want to start joining then feel free. Please shoot me a PM or leave a sign in the basement of the Lighthouse with any comments on the server, etc.

Thanks!

It's weird that I just noticed that both of your Avi's are Mario-related. I mean I knew they both were; Xalxe's obviously a Koopa Mage and izak'sthegoomba,
but I guess I just literally never put 2 and 2 together. Let's all laugh at this.

P.P.S. I will also PM this to Om of the Nom, but if you go up the giant staircase near his house (in "Omnomia"), through the Nether Portal in the sky, along the Minecart track in the Nether, and through the other Portal at the other end...there is a house floating on a cobblestone island about 50 blocks above the ocean with no recognizable features in sight. Whose is it? It is awesome and I don't want to leave lest I not want to find my back to say hello. Also your farms are sad and lonely so I'mma replant them as a salute.

Emp...ress? I'm confused.

HAYO, I just spent the night in a newly crafted bed on the ship in the jungle out back from izak's house. Great view!

P-Edit: That reminds me... I have to /out of Xalxe's PvP tomorrow because it turns out I'm working, on Labor Day, when all I want to do is sit inside on the (probably) rainy day and shoot all of you full of arrows. Or get shot full of them myself...either way...

Oh, well, you could just fly up Xalxe. No problemo for you. :P I kid...just make sure you stare straight up to find the path up through the vines. Should be easy enough if you look for places where the vines will drop you off on the leaf platforms. That's what I always look for because I know that's the only way people would've been able to get up to build in the first place. Try it again...?

@Andrius: I enjoyed it very much. I logged off up top so once I'm done with some actual work ("LAME") I'll relish logging back on to the view form the glass cabin.
Also, I'm guessing maps are tied to playerslots. I'd never thought about it before in all my time on MC, but it makes sense and would explain the map in your chest being completely empty.

Jungle Temple or Desert Tomb? The Desert Tomb has much better loot - and if you didn't solve the chest puzzle in the Jungle Temple then you would get shit.

Eh, I know. The XOR was what I thought you called the dual-switch.
I later learned that it doesn't have a name, it's just a double switch.

izak...if I made that thing don't you think I know what T-flip switch is?

There are tons of little holes in the plains biome you spawn in that dump you out in an underground cave system that is massive and rich.

I'd watch videos of somebody playing the seed just for the personal nostalgia. Check it out. Have fun!

That was always possible unless you were sending to multiple recipients.

Yeah, but it's more convenient now AND you can tell with the multiple recipient PM's too...

Agh, I love having an established base and just going somewhere totally untouched.

Also, dunno why, but I followed the Cobble path as far as it went from the Hub, but it just dropped off onto Netherrack.
How do I get to the portal to the surface from there? And do you have a base set up by your exit portal Fishy?

P.S. jmj3000 and I held an exhibition spleef match last night. Fun stuff, but that guy's a little too liberal with his shovel...
  I believe it was an even 1-1 when you had to leave, right jmj? I'd be down for that kind of thing some other time too.

Hey Xalxe, I should've said something awhile ago, but I got creepered RIGHT outside Maestro Manor. The hole's only visible when you're visiting me, and it's actually right where I was going to ask either you or izak to come flatten out the terrain. It's just within spawn protection and it was bothering me. Also I can't fix it because of spawn protection...sorry. Not a huge deal, just lettin' ya know.

Oh right, aren't you two brothers? Shoot me a PM/email right beforehand.

For a prize, I suggest some nice marker or sign of some kind that can be moved and placed in one's base as a trophy of sorts.
I saw a Minecraft Wipeout Course where the prize for completion was a "Tower of Pimps." (4 Gold Blocks stacked on top of one another)

Some fun trophy like that.

^ I saw! The proportions are a lil' off but I approve. :) Mind if I fix it next time I'm on?

Also, I am hereby announcing Maestro's Redstone Realignment Service.

The first target will be the Glowstone doors to Vanilla Town - I will be working on them sometime tonight EST to improve efficiency and reduce the ridiculous amount of Redstone they use up. Please take this into consideration when navigating within Town limits. I might also be "upgrading" them so if there's anyone willing to donate a stack or two of GS dust, PM me and I will be thankful. I will try and keep GS door down-time to a minimum, but the balustrades/battlements on top of the walls of Vanilla Town can be easily scaled to provide transportation. (I do it all the time, the doors are too slow to me.)

I'm also thinking of reviewing the partial construction of the railroad outside OmNomia. Who was working on it? I'm guessing Om of the Nom.

I didn't, I've been busy in the Desert Tomb that Fishy found and that we're calling Home for now.

Spoiler: Fishy & Maestro's Desert Tomb Base
*We closed up the front entrance, I also closed the side entrances and built a trapdoor entrance which is protected from Monsters.
*I expanded the main section, including taking out unnecessary walls. Lots of extra space now. Fishy and I each have beds and chests in there.
*My side of the main chamber now has a lot of chests with materials I brought from Maestro Manor. I practically moved in...
*I set up an auto-harvesting farm in a Smooth Sandstone greenhouse out back of the Temple. It's attached by a corridor; the whole thing can be reached from the main chamber without risk.
*Built a spiral Jungle Staircase down to the trap level of the central shaft in the main chamber, then dug down to bedrock where one of the chests was. Wonderful mine going now...already paying for itself. (See previous screenshot.)
??? Thinking of expanding the farm even further back/to the sides. Pumpkins/Melons/Sugar Cane, etc.
??? Thinking of expanding the main building but I'm waiting for Fishy to look over what I already have. I'm also leery of deviating from the actual Desert Tomb, just because I think it's so cool to have a self-sustaining base inside one of these things and I don't want to lose the look.
??? Next thing on my list is a safe-passage type deal from the Portal to the Tomb.
??? Related: finish securing the Nether Path to the area...which will take forever and might never happen.

PEOPLE SHOULD COME VISIT ME AND FISHY.

Go to the Nether Hub, go up the Cobble steps that aren't above the Vanilla Town Nether Portal,
go through the Cobble Doorway, keep going for a while till the fork, take the right path...and go one forever!

I'll put up signs when I come back to town to fix those doors.

@Xalxe: I'll probably tear myself away from the area sometime tonight...interesting in helping out...?
Also, if you let me know when you're going to be online, I'd love that creeper hole outside my Manor to be fixed. When convenient. :good:

I didn't find one...where I said I did. I'm new to reading the dynmap and I had just found the Temple. After you left I went straight in one direction (away from spawn and the Temple) and kept the dynmap on cave view and I found one. I'll show you next time Om. I'm thinking another repo base is in order. This one can be ours.

P.S. I know how to freakin' diamond mine. :P I said that when we started...

Told Xalxe I'd post about this in-thread:

So I'd been mining for about an hour and a half in the giant multi-ravine mine underneath the new Desert Tomb base, and I'd been coming across a variety of minerals, including some diamond. I decided to /home and do some house cleaning on my inventory. Then I patched together a couple diamond picks and went to the Blaze Farm to exp. spam and get some enchantments. On the first pick I got Eff3 Unb3 but on the second one I got Unb3 Fortune3 Eff4. Went back down deep into a different mine...found a dungeon...and starting finding tons of diamond, just randomly, without any tricks or strategies on my part. I had 43 in a stack (mostly thanks to the Fortune) by the time Xalxe got on to say hello, so we deicded to try a little game. He gave me a block face (0,1,2,3) and I would dig in that direction ad we'd see how long it took me to find diamond.

It took me less than 5 minutes to find a maxed out 2x2x2 block of diamond ore - for 8 total - and with my Fortune pick I ended up getting 13 diamonds out of it.
I was freaked out at this point but Xalxe thought it was cool, so he gave me another rock face to see if I could find some more before he logged off.

I mined less than 6 blocks from the 2x2x2 block and found 3 more diamond ore.

Just in case anyone's reading this: I ended a simple 1-2 hour outing with 61 diamonds.
It was a freaky day...but Xalxe and I are going caving soon to test out my luck a couple more times. We will be searching for an untouched cave system so we'll probably be out by the Desert Tomb if anybody cares to join us (probably) sometime EST/EDT tomorrow.

About 20 blocks from the last place. When will it end?

P-Edit: 48 blocks or something like that...? I'm not the most familiar with Portal mechanics. I should probably educate myself.
I do know that you mainly need to watch out for how close together they are because it might just link up with the other Portal's Nether exit...but like I said I'm not sure how you'd prevent this without building much farther away than is probably convenient.

but that would also drop everything everybody else's put into theirs. Not a good idea.

So few people were even loading the chunk where I died that after I

Yeah...sorry I'm an idiot. I'll be at an Orioles game all of tomorrow evening, so probably the earliest I'd be home is around 10:30 or 11 PM - which would be either really early or really late for you.

Also @OP's or UT: has a warp actually been set up on UT's New Continent? I personally would like to see it.

What Modded server? I would like in on that if/when it is open for business again.

But yeah Maru, that sucks about the Diamonds. I'd be glad to donate some of mine if you need them for something, but the most foolproof (and honestly the best way in general) to store valuables IMHO is to use Ender Chests. (See my earlier conversation with Om of the Nom.) Since the Ender Chests all contain what each individual player puts into them, the contents are also linked to each individual player (I imagine it's saved along with their inventory, etc.). Thus, it's even more difficult to access somebody else's Ender Chest (e.g. impossible) than it is to access somebody else's inventory without killing them.

In conclusion, Ender Chests are the winners.

P-Edit: Jeez...I'd definitely be willing to donate any or all of the above if you'd like some replacements from a good samaritan, but I don't even know where your house is...

Maestro's FIND THE BLOCK Contest

Attention everyone! A single
Block of Diamond
has been hidden somewhere in the SpawnTown!

It is not covered by any solid block (Glass, water, etc. are fair game) and will only remain in its current location for 1 week as of this post! I will be checking on it every day to make sure it is still there - the first player to find it must PM me with a 3rd-person screenshot of them and the Block. They will then be given a super-secret-prize for finding the Block and 1 hour head start for the second "Find the Block" contest!

NO PRIZE WILL BE GIVEN IF THE BLOCK IS STOLEN, ETC.
Don't be a dick.

Suggestions for prizes, hiding locations, and future Blocks-to-Find will be taken via PM!

P.S. izak, I'm online for a while as of now. PM me when/if you have time to Spleef.

Maestro's FIND THE BLOCK Contest

Attention everyone! A single
Block of Diamond
was hidden somewhere in the SpawnTown! Our winners were speedy and strategic in their searches, and they have all uploaded pictures of their victory!

Suggestions for prizes, hiding locations, and future Blocks-to-Find will be taken via
PM ONLY
!

Spoiler: FIRST PLACE GOES TO PIZZADUDES7!
Image

Spoiler: SECOND PLACE GOES TO OMOFTHENOM!
Image

Spoiler: THIRD PLACE GOES TO MARUCHAN!
Image

Round 2 will commence after I can be reasonably sure that nobody is logged into the Dynamic Map watching me...Pizzadudes7 will be notified when his 1-hour head start is to begin. I'll obviously need to make the next Round a little harder......

PM ME IN THE NEXT 18 HOURS TO SUGGEST STUFF/CLAIM YOUR PRIZE!

@Everyone: I'd love to hear the answer to T-Bone's question as well...

The Winner Records Building for
Maestro's FIND THE BLOCK Contest
has been constructed!

Its coordinates are -457, 65, 254 and it is located on the West side of SpawnTown.
(It's just inside the Glowstone Door that would lead out to UT/IUT's Plantation.)

Image

The winner's names will be added here and new floors will be built as Rounds are completed. This will be a WHENEVER I FEEL LIKE IT Challenge. (Times when I will hide the Blocks will vary, depending on when I can safely assume the server is empty...or when I know I can hide amongst a crowd.)

Maestro's FIND THE BLOCK Contest

ROUND 2: AlloftheLapisarebelongto...

Attention everyone! 5
Lapis Lazuli Blocks
have been hidden somewhere in/around SpawnTown!

The only specifics I will give out are that
ONE FACE OF THE BLOCK IS VISIBLE WITHOUT BREAKING ANY BLOCKS
, and they are all labelled with a Sign that reveals something about their location - the first player to find at least 1 Block must PM me with a 3rd-person screenshot of them and the Block (or a screenshot of them as close as they can get to the block). Once all Blocks have been found, the Winner will be the player who found the most out of the 5 Blocks. If there is a tie and/or not all Blocks are found by 7 days from this post, more Lapis Lazuli Blocks will continue to be hidden in pairs until the tie is broken. The Winner will then be given special designation in the Winner Records Building, a prize to-be-determined between them and myself, and a 30-60 minute headstart on the next Round.

NO PRIZE WILL BE GIVEN IF THE BLOCKS ARE STOLEN, ETC.
Don't be a dick.

Suggestions for prizes, hiding locations, and future Blocks-to-Find will be taken via PM!

You will not be told who the winner is until all Blocks have been found and you will not be told whether the Blocks you fund have already been found.

Apparently I'm a dick when I give people tons of stuff.

In other news,
@UT/any visitors to/residents of Vineland:
I've completed my second Wheat auto-farm right next to Hindu's ongoing construction project. Go out the Western door of the Vinelands warp building (following the Cobble path down the mountain-face) and you'll hit the Stone Brick building that I'm referring to. The top part is unfinished as of right now, but I'll get to it eventually. I might also build a small "summer home" up there.
@Xalxe
: though it's slightly more improvised than the one you saw in my Desert Tomb, I think the design for this one turned out even sexier. :P

The update is about placing: the Diamond place winner will be the one who found the most Blocks after the 7-day period, but all other placings will also be determined by the
NUMBER OF BLOCKS FOUND
, not the speed at which you find them. Again, if there're ties, I'll just add more blocks.

There's enough empty space, but Claus made some comments a little while back - try and stay close to others because the server's getting huge. (Which is awesome in its own right!) If he doesn't mind, I'd suggest building in UT's "Vineland" continent, or carving out a new area for yourself somewhere closer to spawn, OR you could join myself and Fishy out in the Desert Tomb base. Try and stay with others, venturing out on your own when new sucks anyway, when there're so many other people/things on the server. Good choice though! :D

Xalxe. I'm going to have to have to abandon my current idea for the dueling arena...what I have in mind is just too epic. I spent a while in Creative Mode on a Superflat in SSP just building the frame and getting the Redstone circuit that powers the Exhill Doors to work correctly. It was going well but I was in Creative and even then it was intense. Maybe if I win the flying we could build it...but we should just flesh out a simpler arena in the meantime.

You down?

Wow...just like to say how very impressed I am by Reck and Grimm.

2 quick things:
1) Whoever, even accidently, messed up the gate out fron of my first house...please don't do that shit. It was a much easier fix than I would've ever believed but please...don't do it.
2) I've started work on my build for Chevre's contest. I'll point it out on the dynmap when it is le completed...MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

What's this chest in the middle of the forest I'm hearing about?

I am currently working on a Skeleton Mob/XP Farm just East of Om of the Nom's Mt. Fail. Please just take a look if you want, but know that it is neither completely safe or completely finished at this point. I'd like to finish it on my own when I get back. Reck/Grimm/others are definitely going to be welcome to use it once it is complete. I'll provide instructions on how it's going to work to all who can't figure it out. A whole section (e.g. non-drowning water elevator) is missing at this point, but it will be implemented soon. Hooray for nicely placed Skelespawner Dungeons!

P.S. FUN FACT: Didn't know this, and it's w/e to most people, but apparently all Dungeons spawn with exactly 45 Moss Stone.

P.P.S. Round 3 of Maestro's FIND THE BLOCK CONTEST will begin after I finish the Mob/XP Farm. Cheers all!

But izak, I accidently broke through into it once and I could tell it wasn't working properly, but I had no idea why.
Also I asked this question a while back - why doesn't the Skelefarm in town work.

Getting back on to work on my new one now if anybody wants to help...

.....That is definitely not what I got out of that. Especially given the part where he mentioned "multiplayer creative."

At Siv: so I hear you liek Tekkit - ISO or ask Maruchan for more information.

P.S. Maru...the people on your server are sortof self-absorbed, no offense.
They completely ignored Kc and myself when we logged on and tried to figure out where everybody was the other day...

Wut. More than 258 layers.....?

P.S. Xalxe, Y U taunt me? I am about to perform the ritual cleansing that we spoke about earlier.
Would you not like to be witness to this glorious act of liberation for the server?

Nope.

Xalxe, really quick. It'll be over before you can say "checkmate."
I've set up a chain reaction of TNT throughout the chambers. It'll be quite a show!

Anybody who wants to watch should log on and tp to me.

I usually do accomodate the "zzzzzzz", in fact I usually lead it.
Sorry T-Bone...yeesh...also yes. Nothing non-chesskid was destroyed in the making of this entertaining ritual.

And it's outside the limits of town anyways sooooo.....
(and I had permission from Xalxe
SOOOOOOOOOO

I was. That's his only area, AFAIK.
Why is that an issue? Nothing inside the Spleef Arena or connected to other Town buildings was destroyed.
