All right guys, here's the skinny. I lost my job sometime in the middle of February. I was able to pay for March, but barely, and I just won't be able to pay for April

Therefor, I am now making this a donation-run server

A: Once Bukkit is released, and we get mods and usergroups, there will be a special Donators Usergroup with their own set of powers and commands, which you'll be able to enjoy for the month in which you donated

Alright kiddos, gather round. It's time I reveal the deep, dark secret of The Official Mafiascum Minecraft Server

There are two very good questions that have been asked and that I avoid answering
1) Where's the updated map?
2) Why dont you have a better backup than 3/1/11

Here's the short and simple of it. The world is actually broken. Like, very very broken. And until the griefer attack, I was content to just let it ride while I try and find out how to fix it.
This is the world as of 3/1/2011

I used 3 different map generators, and all 3 gave the exact same image. This told me that we actually have almost half of the world's chunks not in the world folder, and I'll be damned if I can find where they are. (Neither do the server admins know btw). I shrugged it off, it wasnt a big deal, we could still run the server while I investigate. But I also quit backing up when I discovered this anomoly.

So then, when we got griefed this week, I went ahead and made another back-up, and then made a new map. The map was identical to the previous month's world. This means that I cannot make backups of our world, I cannot upload any backups I do have without destroying half the world never mind erase a months work, and, ultimately I am truly and totally incapable of fixing any kind of future problems we may have such as corrupt chunks, griefs, whatever.

Bottom line is, I have to wipe the server and make a new world. This one will be gone by the end of the weekend.

2 Topics of discussion for now
1) Suggestions for what seed to use
2) Bukkit is installed. Start naming off mods/plugins you want. I can currently upload 5 without everything going haywire (depending on the mods. Some of them are...intense)

the April Fools Joke was the world being broke. I had actually fixed that a long-ass time ago. (the 1.3 update changed the way the worlds were saved, and my mapper didnt know this)

The real reason I'm creating a new world is to accommodate new changes, griefers, and to celebrate the implementation of mods

Is the sanctuary there, but not visible? Or is the sanctuary not even there? I'm using a mod that "records" maps from multi-player servers, so if I didn't get close to the sanctuary, it could simply not show up.

Turns out it was a 64-bit OS issue, and installing 64-bit Java has (so far) fixed my out of memory issue.

I think we could "crop" the existing world to the smallest developed areas - but we can't simply erase all of the undeveloped areas, else we would have big gaping holes in the world

So there was a disagreement on whether or not I paid this month's bill. I remember going to paypal and doing it, but my lack of receipt + nothing in my bank statement saying I've done so leads me to agree with them

Anyway, by the time I found out, they deleted the server entirely, and now I'm wondering if I want to keep doing this or not.

The first world was run by someone whose name started with a k, and died when (s)he quit the site for personal reasons and also hMod died. I know mine started sometime in January '11, because it coincided with a new job I started.

Then the host deleted both the world and the auto backups I paid them for when I missed a bill that shoulda been transacted through autopay, then again when I ditched that host for good. I cant remember if I gave the server to Claus in April or May, but I thought it was May.

@Eek, Scot's Art Gallery was the world before the one that got griefed, but it was during my tenure (I still think the griefing was hilarious, tragic though it was. Some guys thought they were griefing someone elses server entirely)
