Mitgation > stam. Are you dodge/parry capped, are you blockcapped? And are you a DK, warrior, druid, or pally?
Wait mitigation is the new tanking stat? I know for a long time that stamina gave the highest effective health (Right behind bonus armor of course).

Also dodge is still better than parry, correct? (Since parry resets the swingtimer for the boss and your toon that parried, it pretty much gives a reroll on the attack unless it's been changed)
I speak only for warriors here:

Stam > Mastery > Parry > Dodge

Stam is the same on all pieces of gear in the same slot and iLvl. All 346 Tank Headpieces (plate) will have the same amount of Stam. So while Stam is best, you can't gear for it unless you just go upgrades.

Mastery is +Crit Block, and the best mitigation stat you can have. Each point in Mastery (1 point = ~179 mastery rating) gives you an extra 1.5% chance of blocking and critically blocking, starting at a base of 12%. Critical blocks reduce the damage by 60% as opposed to the generic 30%. Mastery, as I understand things right now, is the only way for a Warrior to increase their block chance against boss mobs.

Parry and Dodge are both about equal mitigation stats if you look at the raw numbers. However, Prot Warriors
should
be specced into Hold the Line, which grants +10% critical block for 10 seconds after every successful parry.

I'd say where my stats panned out, but I'm only in 336 average iLvl equipped, and I haven't gemmed/reforged my tank spec too much, I've been waiting to get gear to do that.

Also, you should get your expertise then hit capped (26/8 for prot warrs).

I don't keep up too much on other specs/classes atm. I just know that Fury Warr's hit cap is outrageous.

Well I'm still a relative newbie and I haven't read that much, but:
Tank like a girl
Sword & Board
Warrior Tanking
The Dead Good Tanking Guide (has useful-looking cheat sheets for Cata dungeons)

They're mainly written from a Prot Warrior viewpoint. Kadomi's blog has a couple of links for DKs, but they don't seem to be especially up-to-date or tanking-specific.

Two questions:

1) For healers, it's Int > Haste > Spirit > Stam > Crit/Hit/etc, right? Or am I close?
2) Why does WoWHead have a giant "PLAY RIFT BETA" background? =/

Well, as a Resto Shaman, I get 50% of the mana regen from Spirit during combat. So yeah.

I know Mastery sucks noodles though, apparently.

It depends on what Mastery. Prot warrior mastery is practically the most important stat following stamina. Resto shammy mastery sucks balls. Enhance shammy mastery is actually better than crit or haste (not that that's saying much).

SHAMANS GETTING 15% BUFF TO PURIFICATION
Blizzard wrote:Since the release of patch 4.0.6, we’ve been keeping an eye on healers and how they are performing and are currently in the process of making some additional adjustments.

Priests

The cost of Power Word: Shield is being increased by 33%. While we wanted Discipline priests to be able to utilize this spell more often and with better results, we also did not want it to be the main spell (and often the only spell) used while in groups. We don’t find this to be a particularly compelling playstyle and have found that it encourages players to avoid using other spells such as Penance. We believe that using a shield in a tight moment is totally appropriate, but we don’t want it to be incredibly efficient to do so with more frequency than that.

We realize that by making Power Word: Shield slightly more expensive for Discipline priests to cast that it might cause Holy priests to avoid using it. To that end, we are adding mana savings into the Body and Soul talent. The tooltip will not reflect this change until a future patch, however. Ideally, Holy priests should not notice much of a change to the Power Word: Shield costs.

Shaman

We are also applying a hotfix for Purification for the Restoration shaman passive from 10% to 25%. We think that shaman healing per second is not as competitive with other healers and while we hoped to bring down Holy priest and Holy paladins (in particular) in 4.0.6, which we did, shaman still appear to be behind. In this case, it is simply easier to buff Restoration shaman rather than nerf everyone else or rebalance the encounters.

In Addition- Restoration Druids and Restoration Shaman

We agree with the sentiment among some players that Restoration druids and Restoration shaman are lacking in the healing cooldown department. The shaman buff and Power Word: Shield adjustment above should bring all healers reasonably close in terms of throughput. The decision on who to bring then might end up being dictated by the strong cooldowns offered by paladins or priests. This isn’t the kind of thing we can address via a hotfix, but it is something we are looking at for the next major content patch.

What AGar says is accurate for warriors. For Pallies: each point of mastery increases block chance 2.25% (we don't get critical block), I believe that Mastery > Stam point for point. I also believe that the idea is that tanks wont be
forced
to gem/enchant for stamina, although Jewelcrafters certainly can, with +101 Stam gems (which are sexy as fuck).

The reason that Stam is not as important as mitigation is due to the change to healers. Having never been a healer, correct me when wrong. The change was to mana starve healers more, partially through spells costing more, partially through having more damage. If healers were forced to use their major spells the whole fight, they'd oom pretty quickly.

So the idea is to reduce the amount of damage you take to reduce the amount of healing required. Stam is just a safety buffer.

This isn't quite accurate. As a healer, I can fairly sustainably heal through my tank/raid taking constant small to moderate amounts of damage (although healing the entire raid drains me faster than healing 5 members and then another 5 members just based on the spells i have to offer). The way to make your healer go oom is to either 1. take spike damage (mmm, restoring mana OHSHITBOMBWITHHEALS...damn now i have no mana left) or 2. have 3 or 4 members of the raid taking tank-y amounts of damage (standing in fire, cleave, etc.). Alternately you could just die and make the druid dps go bear, which will also kill my mana pool :P

So basically, the best thing a tank can do for their healer is have 100% chance to block and 100% chance to critically block, dodge and parry be damned. Stamina is kinda nice but only really necessary for boss gear checks, but the situations are few and far between when you will go "man, I wish I'd had 50 more points of stam."

I use Dominos. It's benefits basically are: It takes away all the...Texture stuff (Not sure how to describe it, but think those dragon things on the side of the actionbar) and leaves you with nothing but the actionbar itself. Each bar is customizable for scale, opacity, length, and something else I can't think of. Its not as important, but it also allows for much easier bindings than scrolling through the key bindings options to find the right bar, it allows you to hover over a button and add the key-binding right there.
