Updated Mod Eligibility Rules

After discussion with the List Mods, we are implementing the following "simplification" of the rules regarding mod requirements/eligibility, effective immediately:

  • First time mods can run a single game, either an Open or Mini Normal.
  • Mods with one game experience
    can run a single game
    , either an Open, Mini Normal, Mini Theme, or Large Normal.
  • Additionally, mods with one game of experience may apply to the Newbie Queue, though preference may be given to more experience mods depending on demand. (Newbie Games do not count against Mod limits, and do not count for Mod experience.)
  • Mods with two or more games of experience can run two concurrent games -
    one from the Open/Mini Normal/Mini Theme group, one Large.
  • Mods with five or more games of experience can propose Special Games.
  • Mods with a significant body of work on another site can ask to have that body of work counted as one game of experience here.

Probably something like 'team mafia' which is significantly different than most mafia games I would guess.

Things like Parallell Universe, and California Trilogy by mith also seem to fit the bill.

So, to clarify, moderators cannot, without prior approval from mith, run two concurrent large games or two concurrent mini games?

Also, I think this thread is an appropriate place for me to present a question whose answer I've pondered for a while now: Why don't Newbie games qualify for game limits or mod EXP?

Personally, I'd prefer 6 months + IC status as the requirements for first time mods. I don't know if others would agree with me here.

Just for newbie games, or for ALL games, Hoopla?

Also, is there any likelihood of increasing the amount of Large Themes run by one mod to TWO as opposed to one, especially if he or she has multiple equally-qualified backup mods and/or is not backup modding for someone else's Large Theme? I think for mods who have already run X number of games, this should be an option.

What about games you have replaced the mod in? (If it's a yes, it will bring my grand total for modding up to 15 :D But only 5 of those count as me actually modding something :igmeou:)

TBM/Richard: Correct. It's a matter of not clogging up the already-clogged smaller queues.

Haylen: Backing up still is allowed, of course, but if you have to take over it might delay you starting a new game of your own, unsurprisingly.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I was referring the whether that counts toward modding experience, not the amount of games a person can mod.

My prefered pronoun set is "cie/cir/cirs[elf]" but they is more than acceptable.

Ah. Situational, mainly depending on how much of the game you had to takeover, but traditionally it's counted for about half a game, IIRC.
