I shouldn't have bought the cheap one from ebay but I'm getting a not-shitty one from amazon with free 2-day shipping now so hopefully I can play tomorrow.

Beating Terratron and getting the first score achievement was worth it for me, it was pretty fun- There are actually 3 levels of the Lost Viking score achievement though (which I didn't know until after I got the first one) and I'm not nearly good enough at it to get those.

It's easy if you recognize a few key points:

1. The upgrades cycle through all the possibilities when they appear. If it gives you something suboptimal, you can wait and let it change.
2. Drones effectively give you extra "life" on top of the added offense. Always max drones if they aren't already maxed.
3. Bombs grant short-term invulnerability. Use if you're on the verge of death. You can also use it if a free bomb appears, since you'll have free reign to grab it to replace what you used.
4. Plasma is better than side missiles for bosses, and not much worse for other stuff when you have 2 drones doing side-damage, anyway.
5. You can also use WASD to move around.

Knowing this, you can prioritize upgrades by going dronex2 (the black one) -> plasmax2 (the one after that) -> bombs (the blue one) to infinity, and then just replenish drones as necessary. You have to screw up 3 consecutive times to lose a life, so you'll easily get extra lives well before you lose them.

I got the final achievement when I beat the 3rd Terratron in Level 9. Finally died on Level 11, but I wasn't really as focused anymore. ^^~

Next order of business is In Utter Darkness on Brutal with the research upgrade. O_o

I may finally give in and get the research afterwards on Normal...just two DT walls was enough of a pain to manage on Hard.

It took me a while but I eventually beat that on Brutal with a fairly mixed army (decent number of carriers+void rays+ dark templars, stalkers, and about 6 colossi) and tons of photon cannons, when the nydus things appear make sure you target them down first, they'll absolutely maim any photon cannon defenses with never-ending broodlings if you don't.

And my laptop is finally back up and running so STARCRAFT TONIGHT.

So since nobody else showed up me and Zito 2vs2'd to PLATINUM LEVELS. AS IN WE'RE 2VS2 PLATINUM NOW.
We almost went 5 wins out of 5 games but the last one had two zerg that kicked our ass- it's a pretty nice consolation prize thouggh.

Are the players who said they were awful a long time still bad? I feel like I'm late to the bad-at-real-Starcraft party. :(

There's definitely improvement, but also a lot of players still in bronze/silver.
And being hilariously bad and winning anyway is much more fun than being good.

I did it on the first try with pretty much just a DT wall and phoenixes to snipe overseers. I had to load once when the enemy brought in 3 overseers from one side and one from the other simultaneously, but that's all. I replayed it on Casual after that to pick up the research and actually scored less well. O.o

I think photon cannons might actually be counter-productive in this stage. I think the enemy may send more zerglings if you take too long to finish a wave, and the DTs are perfectly capable to kill anything provided you wall off and overseers die.

The GSTL games "tonight" are awesome, one back and forth game with void ray colossi vs. infestors and a bunch of ultralisks and one void ray with 60 something kills, and the next with the same protoss making 5 nexuses at his opponents base for shits and giggles while murdering everything he had.

I made bad decisions beforehand (ground mission instead of air mission, no perdition turrets) and never beat All in on Brutal.
GOOD LUCK.

First off IPL season 2 is soooo goood.

Re: All in If you removed the air units then all in is ez pz no matter what research you have, Pforts make it even more lulz easy. If you removed the nydus worms then it's hard as long as you didn't get the mind control towers, if you got those then all the broodlords do is give you a steady stream of reinforcments and the broodlings they spawn just clog up your ramps and mess with the enemy AI.

If Kerrigan is the problem then A) Have specters just spam their nuke on her and instakill her, B) Wall with Pforts, have marines in bunkers kill her or C) send in some sacrifical units to burn her spells and then snipe her with mass ghosts or just bum rush with marines.

I hadn't tried yet when I posted that. Yeah, I got it on my second try (had to load once because Kerrigan Psi-Storm'd all of my Banshees).

Now I have to play the REAL game, though, and my computer is too iffy to do that very well :(

I guess I could stall by playing Aiur Chef or whatever.

Planetary fortress is actually the way to go IMO. You can easily block off the left side with 2 of them and some SCVs. The right's a little funkier, but the AI mostly stands and tries to kill the thing, so it doesn't matter.

I cheesed for my 100th win since Shattered Temple PvZ on close position is impossible to win for a protoss. The guy was a little bit mad though I did screw up he destroyed my probe twice. Poor guy. I should get out of bronze league on the 20th after that I'll play random.
