Read that last line, bud.
Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

^ gotcha

I assume that "Factions can communicate during the day" implies that there are more factions than just the scum. Since there are so many people revealing themselves as House Argelev, I guess they all know each others identities. At this stage I think the roles are broken down into;

House Argelev Rightful
House Argelev Traitors
Loyalist Houses
Disloyal Houses
Third parties such as Gandalf.

The scum are the House Argelev traitors. The House Argelev rightful would be town special roles and the House Argelev traitors would be the scum special roles. Loyalist houses are VT and Disloyal houses are goons.

Does this seem pretty right to anybody else?

I'm not saying it's conclusive, complete or accurate. But roughly. What of it do you think is incorrect?

Having the goons and the power roles of the scum faction seems to be awkward and we've already had someone claim loyalist, Argalev PR

I'd probably go:
Argalev Claimants and some others as a group. ~ Mason/Scum Group/s
Argalev Loyalist non-claimant houses. ~ Mason Group/s
Argalev Loyalist non-housed. ~ Town
Non-loyalist claimant houses. ~ Scum Group/s
Non-loyalist non-claimant Houses. ~ ???
Non-Loyalist non-housed. ~ Third-Parties

For one, lynching me now is a guaranteed mislynch. I'm currently town. And yes, lynching a survivor has the same effect as leaving him alive. If you leave him alive, he quickhammers in LyLo( which granted, could lead to town winning, but unlikely unless town is VERY organized). If you Lynch him, you waste a Lynch for certain. So it's smarter to leave him alive unless you think he's lying. Likewise, if you leave me alive, I MIGHT switch to scum, giving you one less day to Lynch the scum. Or you could Lynch me, and you'll definitely lose a day. And for the record, I'm not a very useful scumbuddy. Whatever faction I latch onto, they won't be informed, and I'll only know the alignment of one person on my team. So I'd argue that I'm actually LESS harmful than a survivor.

I'm also getting bad vibes from Shinki. MD, can I have a link to another game of yours? I want to see something.

EBWOP: one that's completed, obviously. Don't talk about ongoing games and whatnot.

Can you change factions at will throughout the game? Or is it a one-time only switch?

Once I switch from town(or choose to stick with town) I am stuck with that choice. One time only. In case you're wondering why I would ever lock in until LyLo, I am given a reward for making my choice. In addition, my method of choosing my alignment is not foolproof. If I make a mistake I might end up on the wrong side. It's not as simple as just telling the mod what side I want to be on.

It's a minor benefit. No matter what alignment I end up, it isn't as useful if I claim it, so I won't elaborate, sorry.

Fair enough. If it was something that would change the game, we'd of course be asking you to join Town purely to avoid a lynch. I recommend deciding soon, as while I don't support a D1 lynch, if you continue to sit on the fence, you're still a threat to Town.

I know. And I'm aware that the longer I stay without an alignment, the less likely you are to think I'm telling the truth. I call it Lost syndrome. :D you can ask vezok about that one. I'm pretty sure that's why he's voting for me.

My alignment change is dependent on my night action targets. If I want to end up town but I misread someone and the person I pick is scum, I'll end up scum. And I may or may not be able to pick the "obvtown", as I can only pick certain roles.

When you say certain roles, do you mean that if you target certain roles, you simply won't join an alignment that night, or will it give you the opposite alignment from what the target holds?

I have a power that has a traditional use. However, if I use that power to target a certain role(my pm suggests there are several eligible roles) then I latch onto their alignment. So if the person I Target is town, I'll end up town.

Fair enough. I assume that means the power has a dual-use? As in, it'll do something if you target someone who doesn't hold a role you can latch onto?

Yes. And even if I do Target a role I can align with, the power still performs its normal function.

Hmmm....... Apparently I lose my power once I lock in. So I'd rather not try it tonight. I'll use my power for a couple of nights first.

Seven pages in and it seems like a lot has gone on.. but it really hasn't.

- SK fakes a daykill and tries to bait people into claiming alignments.
Anyone who buys the daykill is an idiot.
Anyone with half a brain should've read the OP and the sample VT role PMs and would've known "Hey, don't claim shit."
- DX tries to latch on to these as "scummy" plays and comes up with a million and one bullshit reasons as to why we should lynch SK, none of which are valid.
- Gandalf claims survivor bastard
People try and push to lynch him based on the fact that his alignment *might* change. They are stupid.

Townie brownies go to SK, Otolia, Gand, and NC for what they've put in.
Scum cum goes to DX so far. Vezok and shinki can be added to the list of borderline scumbags.
Ski mask? Check! Sawed off? Check! Guilty conscience, fear of death? Check! Check! Check!

Get to know me. Or don't. I won't tell you what to do. I'm not God. Or your father. Or your boss.
