2163, 213 (x, z) Village!

Tried to create a neither portal in the village. The resulting other end (auto) is above the lava. (i.e Floating).

Guess I'll have to assemble one by hand later.

EDIT: Created a pathway through the neither from my home portal to the village. Follow the cobble stone road.

There's a mineshaft running underneath it! Including

Harvested my crops. Took me a day, a night and then another day to finish it up:

Already had the bread in my inventory, so my farm outputs:
1027 Wheat
+-690 Seeds (that's after seeding my farm)

Here's a small adventurous tale.

Spoiler: eek goes on a trip

So I thought 'gee, I want to see some 1.8 stuff on the server'.

Screw this boring pre-1.8 terrain

So I went to the nether and went pretty far.

First punch of many

Enormous lava ocean I nearly fell into.

After dealing with several Ghasts and other lava seas, I reached 100, -1000. I built my portal right there and activated it. And then I teleported.
Server hiccuped a bit and when the world loaded, I was drowning. Yeah, great.

I assure you, the other side is also an endless ocean.

So, I made my way over to a small island and started island hopping.

Land ho!

Night fell and I had reached a bigger island so to be safe during the night:

I miss my palace...

Awfully cosy though.

tl;dr:
Went to 1000, -8000, found enormous ocean biome, I'll be back with some Melon seeds.

UT: Well, you can always use the slime finder to find slime chunks, and build a slime room around there... I managed to find a few that way.

Anyway... notch was thinking about making the default moon round. That cannot be! The square sun/moon is one of the most charming things in Minecraft!

what is the slime finder?

Slimes only spawn in certain chunks. The slime finder is a tool that, given the world seed and a set of coordinates, tell you which chunks will spawn slimes. So you just build a large, lit room under Y = 20 in these chunks, and eventually slimes will spawn there. It still takes a while, I suggest building a waiting room nearby, and trying to find 2-3 slime chunks near each other. Remember that no mob will spawn closer than 24 blocks from you.

I don't have the link with me right now, but if you google "minecraft slime finder" you should find it.

I'm most excited about the enchantments. I was a bit skeptical about the experience, but this system of using the experience to power up breakable tools is great. The variety of enchantments is also really nice. Check out the "axe of silk touch" (when mining a block, gives you that exact block back -- glowstone, webs, redstone/lapis/diamond ore yay!)
