It's very rare that people have resolutions at or below 1024 x 768 these days.

Except on mobiles, but it looks okay on Mobile Safari. Can anyone report back with Android?

I think it degrades more gracefully if the role is on top and the WC is underneath. Then if a multi-line role pushes it into line wrap, the related stuff is more likely to stay 'in' the bracket.
