Well, here's how it works:
1) Sugar decides if people actually qualify for some title and then makes a list of the people and titles
2) When the list is big enough an admin enters the ranks in the list of valid ranks and then assigns them to people, it can be a little bit of a chore, so it doesn't happen every day

So either your title was refused or Sugar hasn't made the list yet, either way the list isn't big enoguh for me to assign titles.)

Titles are not just given to anyone who wants one (even if they have 100 posts...)

You can search the site, one of the threads has the story in it... but basically mith owns mafiascum.net and felt Antrax has overstepped his bounds. Somewhere in there mith commented that it wasn't a mistake that Antrax wasn't an admin, but it turned out that there was a fluke in how Hy transferred the users and Antrax was stuck at admin (he didn't know he wasn't supposed to be). He went in and changed his title before I unadmined him. I figure mith is OK with it or else he would have gotten rid of it or asked me to get rid of it.

I think it's sugar and Jeep. Sugar makes the list when there are lots of people. When Jeep sees the list, he copies it into the title.

Sugar makes the list and then either mith or I change the titles... it's a pain in the ass to change titles, so it doesn't happen very often.

And, yes, I understood that "no accepting..." was a typo... but with the elmo avatar, I thought it was good.

Titles are NOT a right on this board. Sugar decides who gets what and if it's allowed. Mith can override Sugar's decision, I suppose, but I doubt he will. I will occasionally take liberties, but I will certainly not be offended if Sugar or mith override me in those cases.

Agreed. Notice that I don't have a title, even though I'm certainly eligible for one.

I am going to implement a post count system that counts the number of posts in the mafia game threads... and it's going to have some spam protection. Probably a limit of 2 "points" per day or something similar. We'll see how it goes over.

Sugar has final say over titles as far as I'm concerned. Mith can override anything he wants to, but I'll fill in titles exactly as Sugar says, except when I don't. And when I don't if S tells me to, I'll change things to be like it is supposed to be.

Always. My role in this site does not extend to making policy about things like this. I can certainly refuse to implement a title or abuse my powers to add a title, but if Sugar insists on anything related to who gets what title, I will yield. I can exert some influence, though.

Sugar sent me a list. I haven't implemented it yet because I've been busy with other things. I don't intned to implement new titles for a while yet. I told Sugar that if she felt I was getting WAY too far behind that she could poke me and I'd go do titles. She told me to take my time.

Currently there are three of us who can implement titles: mith, Q, me.

Jeep - you should probably just appoint someone as you'd have to teach them what to do anyway, and act as their back-up if they fall behind.

?? Why would I get stuck as backup? So here's the training:
Collect and make decisions on who gets what title

Then, when I (or mith) get around to it we assign the titles to people. It's quite a chore, so it happens rarely. I'm in the process of making it so that I can assign a "title fairy" role that can assign titles directly, but that is not done yet. (That will shift the labor off to someone else.

Done to this point, the new code doesn't affect my ability to do titles...

This included two changed titles. I did not delete the old ones, so they are just clutter in the database now.

Also, Cam, I'm too out of the loop to know the details of everyone's names... please try to include full names, when you know them. Titles are already a pain in the ass without having to search on partial names.

So, yeah, there is a difference, even if it's not obvious to the casual observer.
