People, but that can create problems when you are sitting in the Irc channel (#Draft4you on Solidirc.com) waiting for more people to show up (it seems as though you are always stuck with either 5 or 7 people)

Based on personal experience, I can say that while its real people, most netdrafters dont know what they are doing anyway.

I'll do this when I get home (I'm kind of at my boss's house dicking around with the new company laptop right now). chamber took at look at it and laughed at me for having Endless Ranks of the Dead but I <3 my ERotD!

probably doing my first draft tonight. This is the only game shop that has a late draft (11PM) as opposed to one at 6:30-7:00PM. any last minute tips? I'm nervous as shit

Don't overcommit to a colour or colours too early, look for a cohesive plan, draft based on strength and not rarity. Don't forget to try and get some removal.

When I draft, I usually pick the best card from pack 1 and build with it, unless I see nothing useful in that colour by pick 3 or 4.

In DKA/INN/INN, tribal drafting can work, but it can also be really hard if someone else tries it. Don't underestimate things like Feed the Pack, those outright win games.

And for the love of god, don't talk while you're drafting. Yeah, it's fucking fantastic that you pulled a Snapcaster pack 3 or a Sorin pack 1, but the rest of the table doesn't need to know. (/petpeeve)

When is it okay to go for those rare cards like Sorin or Garruk or Lilana? I likely won't be building a deck around them in draft play, but they're kind of worth it, right?

A decent rule of thumb is to just snap-take any card worth enough money to pay for your draft.

Oh they're usually worth it, even if you just splash for them, but don't JUST take them because they're expensive (This is also assuming you want to win rather than break even money-wise).

Also, don't forget that hate-drafting (picking a card you don't want to see against you) is an entirely viable tactic, even if it'll get you hated by the rest of your table. Don't do it if it'll hurt your deck, but if it's late in the draft and the rest of the pack is useless to you, then you take that Bloodline Keeper so no one else gets it.

P-EDIT: I agree with Sens, to a point. Taking a Snapcaster Mage in a late pack is entirely correct, since you just paid for your night.

From the top down:

UW Fliers
WB Humans
RB Vampires
RG Werewolves

These are what I’d consider the Tier 1 archetypes, which doesn’t mean that they are always better than the others, but that they are better more of the time. There exists a nut version of every deck, but it’s pretty hard to go wrong while drafting one of these combinations; they are open more often, and better when they are open.

To me, this says "Go for white if it's open." Is that fair? I hear white is pretty stronk in the current format.

Thinks like sorin/liliana/garruk should almost always make your deck. You winmill slam them anyway for the money (or, at least I do) but you can almost always fine room in your deck for a card with that kind of power level.
